This is a great little device for this price. I have a laptop, desktop, and a smart phone, but yet still I find utility of this device - when I am say, at a conference, or just chilling on the sofa.

Just received this in the mail this morning. And have spent all morning playing with it. This puts my TF201 to shame, it's much smoother and the back actually is pretty nice; easy to grip. The portability given by the size is a major plus, with no resolution loss to boot.Only gripe would probably be that there's no way to expand the memory with microSDs, but I'll live with it.

Without a doubt this is the best Android tablet there is and it eclipses even those tablets that cost nearly twice as much. The Nexus is just the right size to be a completely casual and portable device and it seems to always be either in someone's hand here or on the nightstand. If you have an Android phone it's great to have all the same apps available and even use Tablet Talk to make calls or do texts.But it's not without it's faults, and in fact the biggest reason the Nexus 7 is so good is that all other Android tablets are so fail. In an overall sense I felt that the Nexus does everything, but it doesn't do it as well as it should. Seeing as this is a content consumption device I would have hoped for better sound quality. The speaker level is very low and it doesn't have the power to drive my headphones. If you listen to music this may be a disappointment. As far as video playback goes it's pretty good. Watching Netflix in landscape mode on the Nexus is almost as good as watching it in portrait on the IPad 3. The IPad is definitely better, but it is also more expensive.One thing that is a major disappointment to buyers who are not in the USA is that we do not get access to all of the Google services and this cripples the tablet somewhat. If you are in the USA you can use this with Google Voice and pretty much use it as a phone anywhere you have Wi Fi. Our masters in Canada have decided we can not do this, or even upload our songs to Google music.

This is a great device. I tried the playbook, which was a horrid disappointment and I hate it to death. Then the Envizen, which was better, but a bit slower. Now the nexus. Best tablet I have ever used. Great for reading, browsing, YouTube, movies, or music.. loads of free apps, unlike the playbook. I can't say enough about the nexus. I love it.PS: this review was made on my nexus. ;)

Tried many different tablets, and this is the best 7 inch one on the market. Didn't have the screen issue that some are having, and don't miss the rear camera. Screen is sharp and responsive. Really like the textured backing, makes it easy to hold. Overall, an excellent product and highly recommended.

I love my Nexus 7. I use it every day. It's my favourite Android tablet that I've ever owned. However, I have to say that manufacturing issues mar an otherwise fabulous tablet. The biggest annoyance for me is the often-discussed screen-lift issue. Put simply, one side of the screen (the left side) has some give - when you press down, the screen 'creaks' a bit and depresses. Touch performance is unaffected, but it's distracting and annoying while using the tablet. The price is great, but I can't help but feel that the quality control is lacking on this device. When stock levels go up, I will try to RMA my device. I've heard of people getting replacements with backlight/worse lift issues, so I'm going to wait a bit before RMA'ing mine.Otherwise, the tablet is fantastic - smooth, responsive, great battery life, good weight (only 340g).

Ever since I saw this device on youtube, I know I was gonna pick one of this up. At this price, I feel like I stole it. Bigger tablet are too heavy for long period of reading and has a keyboard that is awkward to type on. In portrait mode the Nexus 7 is pretty easy to type with. I can game on it for hours at a time without my finger getting tires and I've been reading on it for days at a time. If you can live with the limited storage, and no Video out, I highly recommend this device. I am the occasional gamer, Avid reader, and browse the web with it for hours at a time. Perfect for daily use.

In the first day of owning one the screen started to lift up very slightly (< 0.5mm) so I took it back to NCIX and the tech took it out of my sight and crammed it back into place and then told my there was nothing wrong with it. If you get one and the screen pops take a picture and be careful with the tech taking it out of your view.Aside from the minor screen lift it's been a great device. Very good touch response, Jelly Bean is great, the Tegra 3 processor makes for some very smooth graphics, and the battery lasts for an impressive length.

This really is a game changing device. The 7 inch size looks like the ideal compromise between usability and mobility. It is about the size of a paperback book but can do so many things beautifully. Only wish it were a little lighter.I found the IPS screen to be crisp with vibrant colors. The hardware is very responsive, thanks to a quad+1 core CPU and Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean). Video playback is flawless. I also ran a game on it (ME Infiltrator) without a hitch. So far, it doesn't seem prone to overheating.This tablet has been criticized by some for carrying no rear camera, but this actually suits me. I would never consider taking pictures with a tablet in the first place and I don't have to worry about smearing the rear camera lens with fingerprints when I hold it.Of course, you shouldn't expect perfection in a budget tablet like the Nexus 7: the screen resolution could have been even higher; 16GB of internal storage is enough for me but a microSD expansion slot would have been handy; Google obviously sought to save a few dollars by foregoing 5 GHz Wi-Fi support, which is unfortunate as 5GHz hotspots are getting more common. This is also apparent when you find out that even cheap earbuds aren't included with the tablet.But don't let these minor drawbacks steer you away from an awesome little tablet.

I've been waiting for a true budget alternative to come out in this price range. What surprises me though is the level of craftmanship and quality evident throughout this unit. On top of the latest version of Android what can I say. It's not an Apple. That should be reason enough!

Although a great device, many problems have cropped up since launch, namely, screen lifting problems, screen flickering and tearing, dead pixels and screen bleeding. If it wasn't for the poor QC, this device would be stellar.

The best tablet I have used so far. 7 inch form factor is perfect for reading and playing games. Overall much much smoother than previous Android tablets. My original Asus Transformer Eeepad now seems unbearably slow in comparison.

Overall, I love this little thing. It does so much really well. It's a great browser and email checker. Bluetoothed it to a mouse and keyboard - works great. All in all, I'd have to say I am more impressed with this than my first iPad and it's less than half the price. WiFi is great too. Never seems to lose connection and speed seems fine also. Apparently you can expand the memory by using a micro USB OTG adapter and plugging in a usb thumb drive. I ordered a couple from Deal Extreme and am waiting for their arrival. We'll see if it works. Keeping my fingers crossed. Would be nice to have a 32GB drive loaded with movies etc.All in all, I am totally thrilled with this thing, especially at the price. Google/Asus did a great job with it.

I've been using this tablet vigorously for the past 11 days that I've had it so far. I must say Jelly Bean OS is pretty smooth and fluid on the Nexus 7, just as on the Galaxy Nexus or slightly smoother because of the CPU I think. I have had no heating issues, no screen bleeding issues and the screen/bezel popping up issues that many users have been reporting and complaining about. I guess I was the odd one out that has not had the issue *Knock on wood*That being said, it would have been nice if Asus had put a micro sd card slot for us heavy storage users, but I guess the whole point they did not was to cut cost and make the tablet affordable. Of course there are always Cloud based storage and using a usb flash drive/sd card via rooting the device, but who wants to do that right?Having no rear camera is not an issue for me, as who takes pictures with their tablets? You'd be a fool to do so. Just kidding. I haven't played any games on it yet to test out the CPU and 12 Core GPU but I am sure it should be flawless based on the Google I/O demos that they had. Overall, I definitely recommend this tablet to anyone out there that's looking for a cheap 7" tablet that will suit their budget. Heck, since its $10 more than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7". Yes that has a micro sd card slot and rear camera but its SO slow compared to the performance of the Nexus 7. I am waiting to see how this will pair up with the Nexus Q which I have pre-ordered. Might pick up another one when NCIX has more in stock, and use that as a development tablet/play around tablet with customization, etc.

Great device, great price, ASUS build, Corning glass, awesome resolution, 25$ on the play store upon activation... list goes on.I have an 8gig one which I received from the play store. I mostly stream things on the device so I do not cap it's storage but at 8gigs it would be rather easy. Unfortunately there's no expandable memory.Jelly Bean is awesome, I've gone from 2.3 on the phone to this and the only thing I miss is the option button. I wish I'd have that instead of the switch button (alt+tab like).Love the rubber back.Highly suggest!

Overall a very good tablet for the price point and comes with many features that many tablets at the same price don't have. It's also a nexus product meaning that there will be quick updates to the latest version. Unfortunately no sd card slot means no additional storage but there are other Web based options for that. Also no rear camera which is slightly disappointing but I hardly would use it anyways.

I receive mine from the first batch, and the left side of the screen is delaminating from the frame. Also the display is shuttering. After some research, it seems like a common problem of the first shipped out batch. Check yours carefully.
