ASUS PA238QR 23IN Widescreen LED Backlit LCD Monitor 1920X1080 6MS 50M:1 HDMI DisplayPort DVI-D VGA
Cons:A little pricey (you get what you pay for!)Two of the USB ports are on the back.Less features than the PA238Q
Pros:Fantastic colour reproduction and the sharpest display I have ever owned.Stand is totally adjustable and the screen can rotate.Comes with VGA and DVI cablesHas DisplayPort and HDMI ports.Four USB 2.0 portsThree year rapid replacement warranty (with free two-way shipping) Comment:
After installing the monitor the first thing I did is turn the brightness way down to 50%. The colours on this IPS screen are so much more vibrant than my previous monitors. The controls on the right side of the screen are easy to use. I have no dead pixels and I see no sign of any bleeding that some have reported on the web. I was a little hesitant about paying the extra over a similar sized TN panel, but now that I can compare LCDs side by side, the extra is a worthwhile investment. My next monitor purchase may be its big brother, the PA246Q with a P-IPS display and a 10-bit LUT (1.07 billion colours!) |
Asus did it again! they just keep on impressing me. I've been a loyal CRT fan for the last 10 years and always been reluctant to switch over to LCD technology. I've been around LCD's for quite a while at different work places and they just never appealed to me with low viewing angles and bad color representation. Finally, I made the jump cause it would be nice to have a 23" widescreen instead of a once considered big 19" 4:3 screen.I tried a few different panels including Samsung's latest and greatest TN panel, and some from LG. There's an unmentionable local store that probably hates me cause of all the monitor returns :)Anyway, long story short, this Asus monitor is an amazing value for the money!!! its an entry level model with the IPS tech and let me say that it makes a WORLD of a difference compared to TN models. this monitor actually brings me back to the CRT days. accurate colors, ridiculous viewing angles, and even the refresh rates are great (I've played a few FPS games on it without noticing any refresh problems). On top of that Asus decided to throw in a fully adjustable stand that swivels, changes height and also rotates the monitor 90 degrees. This is hands down a 5 star product when looking at quality and features vs. priceOnce you go IPS, you never go back!
