ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:None

Pros:Fast response timeStable connection
Comment:
Impressively really fast wireless response time when you click on an internet link, play online video, open up new internet windows, etc. Literaly everything loads instantly. And everything else about this router is fine and works just as it's advertised. The original firmware is outdated and slow, but really showed its potential when upgraded to lastest version. Not sure about whether it will last long or not but it seems rock solid. Very satisfied and will buy another one.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:none

Pros:Awesome aesthetics, easy connectivity, good price, good warranty coverage, comes with new "ribbon" network cable.
Comment:
Using this ASUS RT-N56U for my home network. Couldn't be happier. Internet's snappy (responsive), and my TV and Blu-ray player deliver updated content (trailers, advertisements, etc.).I really appreciate how easily this router installed. Easy, breezy, beautiful.(Remember: "reset" your ISP's modem to clear out prior router's MAC address)

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:cant hang it on the wall

Pros:nice finish looks elegant
Comment:
Awesome. Best router I have ever owned and I have had about 2 different ones including one $100 router from linksys which failed on me last. It can transfer data at through gigabit ethernet computer to computer which is awesome. The wireless is showing full power to the laptop in my house where with my last one they were only at about 0% signal and stays at 150mbs connection with them (the highest my laptop can do) always. The graphical interface is very nice as well. Not just a bunch of text to read threw for you settings. If you need a new router, buy this one, hands down.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:No DD-WRT build (yet?)Blue lights are hard to focus on and bug my eyes.

Pros:Excelent router, getting up to 75Mbps downloads throught it, and torrenting doens't kill it.
Comment:
I went through four or five routers after my WRT54-GS died, but this one is awesome. Totally worth the price.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:Wires pulling it back form its precarious balance.

Pros:Easy interface to setup
Comment:
All I wanted in a router is in there. Easy install, quick setup, nice monitoring of bandwith and users. It's quite a change from my old D-Link DI-524!!! I saw complaints about the time it takes to apply the changes... true its slightly long, but how often do I change those settings?

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:UI is very irritating compared to Tomato on my WRT54GL

Pros:Quick to setupMuch smaller than my WRT54GLExcellent signal strength/penetrationUSB ports are a blessing for my Brother HL-2140 Printer.
Comment:
Took a little fiddling to get the USB network printing to work correctly but once I've gone through the process it's fairly straightforward. Good range and reliable signal (so far!) Highly recommended, will most definitely update  review as time passes!Bought this in anticipation of Broadband 100 from Shaw, my Area is DOCSIS 2 and doesn't have the new speeds yet. ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:Poor instruction on attaching a usb printer

Pros:Work as advertised
Comment:
Overall it does what adverised. However the instruction on attaching a usb printer is very poor. Here is what should be done. Make sure you have your printer driver already installed or available. 1) Connect your USB printer to the USB port on the router. 2) Go to Add a printer (in window). 3)select  "add a local printer". 4)select  "create  a new port: Standard TCP/IP Port" 5) Type router's IP address in Host name/IP address. 5)Follow the onscreen instructions. All should be fine.

Pros:Too many to list. Refer to review.

Ok, so here's the deal. I read on a few sites that this router is very fast. I just upgraded to BB100 through shaw and hoped it would assist in delivering that speed a little better than my aged DIR-655. Well, in as few words as possible, it cant.Let me tell you why. I connect all of my devices in the same manner as my old router. Turned off all of my devices. Unplugged my modem. Then I plugged my shaw modem in and let it come online completely. After this I plugged in my devices, and powered them on one at a time.Well, right away there was an asus router page telling me to contact my system admin because my dhcp assigned address was incorrect. Huh? So I disabled and re-enabled my adapter to try and get this fixed. No go. Only a reboot would fix it.Ok, so I get into the router and start to set it up. Every change takes approx 60s to take effect, well there are a minor few that take less time, but they are few and far between. My wife and kids are in a panick because they want to get on netflix, so I quickly set up the tv and get it going. Ok heres the crappy part about this, many minor changes cause netflix to disconnect, and they are not happy. I am talking simple things like checking the client list or refreshing the same list so that I can add in some static dhcp clients. Not good.Ok so I get to the point where I have 8 reservations, well, when I go to add in the 8th, I get a message saying a max of 8 can be set. What? I had many on my dir-655. This isnt very good at all.So After less than 24hours, a firmware upgrade that didnt change anything, and no internet 80% of the time its running, I have decided to throw in the towel. And before you say its pebkac, Let me say that generally I have no problem at all with anything related to computer tech. My dir-655 went right back in without any issues at all.BTW. Making a mistake on the order id, should not erase my entire review. Cant you be a verified owner if you bought in store? I would give this product a one star if ncix would allow it without an order id. As far as I'm concerned this sytem is skewed. 1 Star piece of junk.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:Would be great if it could be mounted on the wall.

Pros:Looks great. Small. The LEDs are so bright that the light up a room (Unlike the Dlink)
Comment:
Not sure why this router is getting such a terrible rep. I have have frimware 1.0.1.4 and it has been rock solid. Both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are working perfectly. I have a Samsung ML-1610 Laser Printer on one of the USB Ports and my WD 750GB MyPassport Hard Drive on the other USB Port sharing music, videos etc flawlessly.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons:-Takes a while time to apply changes to settings compared to most routers-Lack of 450Mbps support-Finger prints really easily

Pros:-Fast and easy set up for even the unexperenced home networking users -Lots of advanced options-Looks great-High Throughput-Great Wireless Range-Stable-Small Size
Comment:
I cant say enough about this router. I don't know why so many people are giving it a bad rep, with the latest firmware this thing is rock solid. It also looks great and After owning/setting up my fare share of "performance" routers. It's one of the best I have used/set up. The Set up was really fast and simple, even someone with no networking experience could do it. How ever it also offers alot of advance features for more experienced network users. It's also supposedly able to take DD-WRT when a build becomes a viable for it.The only down side to this router for me is that it has a lack of 450Mbps support which most new routers have. It also takes longer to apply changes through it's interface when compared to other routers, but that don't bother me one bit a small trade of for such a good looking and stable router.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons: Broken default DNS, but can be fixed through special settingsTraffic monitor data resets when restartedNo guest mode

Pros: Very fastLots of nerdy settings
Comment:
So yeah - bought this guy for 110, got home, all exited, plugged in and for some reason it took 10 seconds to look up DNS for any site the first time. After that, it was very fast. Put in the DNS manually as 8.8.8.8(Google DNS)(can also put in your provider dns if you want to or change router dns settings) and voila - all works. Also great QoS, really helps me keep those pings down when playing LoL and someone decides that they really need that new 2 gig movie right this moment and hog up the whole bandwidth. Set them to low, set P2P traffic to low priority...???...PROFIT. Also mind you, firmware is released often by ASUS so make sure to update  to the newest one - they constantly fix stuff.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons: Can't steath port 21, only close it.UI is clunky and not very user friendly

Pros: Throughput seems very good. Set up was not difficult.EzQoS works well and was EZ to setup.
Comment:
So far, I'm most happy about the devices ability to handle P2P traffic while surfing the internet. With several P2P files going, my old WRT 610N would grind to a crawl. The RT-N56U seems to not notice, at least I don't notice. The QoS has been set to prioritize my Web traffic. The wireless through put is about the same as my old Linksys WRT610N.UI is not very well designed. Everytime you click apply it brings you back to the main page. And if you don't click apply and change tabs, you loose your settings so far.One big weakness, I can't steath port 21! I can only close it. Shieldsup reports a fail! I understand that it's closed but every other router I had could steath it, even the cheapest 20$ router. I'm very disappointed in this.Tried to get support on Asus' site. The contact tech support form doesn't list this router.I sure hope they come up with a firmware fix for the port 21.

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons: Slow, VERY SLOW, horrible UI, horrible support(no 1-800#)

Pros: Strong Signal, Small footprint
Comment:
This is the worst product I've ever purchased... updated to latest firmware, which has helped. However, I cannot stealth port 21, only set it to closed. I can't get any VNC connections to work on the LAN. The web-based UI is incredibly slow, and if you move too fast for it... it locks up and reboots.I can't be bothered to call ASUS support as they don't offer a 1-800 line, only an 812 number to Indiana. From what I've read they don't offer much, so why should I waste even more money on this worthless product. Shame on the review sites for promoting this device so heavily, as I definitely feel robbed. I wonder how much ASUS paid them?

ASUS RT-N56U Dual Band Multimedia Ultra Slim Wireless Router
Cons: Worst ASUS router EVER - the firmware is total garbageNo third party firmware (where are you, Oleg's firmware?)Not nearly as good as they promised it to be

Pros: SmallTwo USB ports
Comment:
Welcome to latest and greatest ASUS router. I went thru bunch of routers in years, including high performance ones - but this one is a total joke. You update  the firmware - and guess what - you cannot login to router anymore! the 192.168.1.1 times out without login prompt. ASUS does provide firmware recovery utility, but that one craps out during recovery...ASUS, why your stock firmware is SO BAD? Don't you have QA anymore???
