ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:-Limited print server

Pros:-Price-Print server
Comment:
This unit is really great for it price! I had problem connecting my canon all-in-one MP140 printer and a imac, so I drop  the print server (!). I think with a standard printer, it will work as advertised. But beware if you have a mutlifonction printer!Anyway, the wireless work better than my old Netgear product, so I keep it. And for the price, it's really a good deal.Lot of configurations. I didn't try the easy setup, because it's seem too simple and I like to set my own configuration.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:Had some trouble getting ip from my modem sometimes. Easily fixed by sequencially turning on modem then router.

Pros:Good SignalCheap price for Printer ServerContains all the options that we mostly need
Comment:
Very good product for its price. The printer server worked for me in 3 mins by following the instructions. Even though there is a small delay for printing, it beats turning on another computer. The signal is pretty good. Everything connected in seconds. I'm using mixed b/g and mixed wpa/wpa2.The only nippy thing i saw was that part of the casing wasn't snapped on properly so a small edge of the router is kinda popped out. no biggie though :)

Cons:the printer server is hard to setup, not able to stop the wireless signal to use only the wire

Pros:easy to use, great signal, printer server at low cost

Its working fine but I had some problems setting up the printer server. And its still not working with my second computer with winXP.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:AC adapter on the plug.

Pros:Range, ease of use.
Comment:
I bought this for my home network to add a WAP and replace my modem/router/wireless router all in one.I test the range and even in my old house with thick walls, I can go everywhere from the basement to the second floor, on the front and read balcony. I really liked the intergrated WAP options, all I needed to do was acces the webUI and switch it to wireless access point mode, since it's been running perfectly :DThe only main drawback for me was that the power cord was just a little short and I needed to add and extension, but the AC adapter on the plug caused some problems because I needed to route the wire in a tight space...

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:The antenna is a little loose on mine and I keep having to tighten it up to maintain really good signal strength, minor issue that might be a fault on my part but a weakness nonetheless. Antenna on WRT54GL was much more secure. It never drops connections though. Flashing DD-WRT was a bit harder with this router than it was with the LinkSYS WRT54GL.

Pros:Fast, reliable router that's even better with DD-WRT. No dropped connections after days of heavy use. It looks great, much better than the WRT54GL. The built-in user interface isn't that bad.
Comment:
An excellent router that's fast and very reliable. I like it much more than my old LinkSys WRT54GL. For maximum results, install DD-WRT on this router.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:The EZsetup thing is more or less easy.

Pros:Signal Strength is excellent
Comment:
For the USB print server, it works for HP LaserJet 1020. Installed on the bottom floor of my house and still received Excellent signal thru 3 floors in a townhouse crowded with other wireless routers from neighbors. The first time I changed the admin password, it had to restart and I waited and waited...and finally it came back, but I couldnt connect anymore and I had to do the EZsetup again.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:-no manual

Pros:-price-print server function (hopefully it works well, as I have yet to set it up)
Comment:
Overall, setup with this was fairly easy. It did not play nice with an older Shaw cable modem, but upon upgrading the modem to a newer Motorola, it seems to work quite flawlessly. Setup one Mac to it wired, and one laptop PC on wireless; seems to function reasonable well, and range is quite good. Given some of the reviews here, I didn't bother with the EZ setup function, and instead did it the "old fashioned way" manually entering settings.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:Way too user friendly to the point of being stupid

Pros:Small, Cheap and works (eventually)
Comment:
Well, first. I must say it took me a couple hours to get this thing setup. I know what I needed to set, I know what I had to do. Except in this unit, the standard interface software was so freaking user friendly that it had next to zero options at all.My end goal was to simply have a wireless access point inside my network. My printer wasn't listed on the officially supported list, but I was going to try it too.First, it defaulted to having it's own subnet, different from mine, forcing me to do a bunch of network config just to initially connect to it. Then the "wizard software" was so freakingly stupid, it was about 2 clicks, and it said "done". wtf. This software seemed to have no way to actually configure this little unit. Now, the full manual was only on the disk, the printed manual was just as useless as the initial tool used to "set it up". After looking back at the disk for more, I found a 2nd more fuller manual which allowed me to properly get into the router and change the settings I needed.Lastly, it came time to setup the printer. The printer detected automatically by the unit. But geeze, the printer share is pathetic. You have to go through about 20 "wizard windows" in windoze just to get it to work by opening up ports, knowing the exact name without the ability to browse etc. What happened to having a network path for the printer, just like any other typical shared printer on a windoze network. I've never in my whole life seen printer setup steps that convoluted. In the end, a PITA to setup, but it does work. Lesson for anyone getting this unit. Unless default settings are fine for you, skip all the extreme-user-friendly garbage. Go get the fuller manual so you can easily set it up the way you want it.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:poor/'non-existent' paper manualuseless 'EZsetup' software

Pros:fastgreat config (once you get the router installed)
Comment:
This seems like a good router; the config (via web browser) is nicely laid out. Given the lack of a good paper manual (the one supplied only outlines how to install their 'EZsetup' software, which in itself is useless), it would be nice to have some (hard/paper) documentation worth reading.I must add that they did include a PDF version of a more 'complete' manual for the router on the CD they include. If you're planning on getting this router, reading the soft manual is a good plan.I had to install this router without the help their 'EZsetup' offers, as it did not help me at all.In summary..EZsetup grade: poorRouter grade: good so far

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:Horrible documentation, somewhat confusing UI

Pros:Price, compact design, decent range, built-in print server
Comment:
Having had good experiences with a WL-520GU for the last few months, I bought one for use with my parents' new iMac. I read on various sites that they play nice with Macs. Well, it's true. I had it up and running in 5 minutes.Another positive point is that it has good signal strength and range, and the connection is very steady. Before the Asus, I had a Linksys WRT54G that would constantly drop out. Very frustrating. So, I'd recommend the WL-520GU. This review was modfied by poster @ 03-28-08 09:15 PM

Cons:Had to download a proper instruction manual to use print server properly

Pros:ValueEase of usePrint server!
Comment:
After reading forum posts about people not being able to get the print server working properly. I was second guessing myself on making this purchase, but I thought "what the heck, at least its a cheap router". It worked like a charm, took about 5 minutes to setup the router, and 10 minutes to figure out the print server. Works great with my Canon i960 printer, no issues yet. Was a smooth, quick install, and for the price, I couldn't argue with this purchase one bit, I'd buy it again!

Cons:QOS doesn't work great for voip.

Pros:Looks nice, has build in print server and QOS
Comment:
This router is okay, not great. I use it now because I bought it otherwise I really would just use my old d-link di-524 as it was better. The QOS really sucks and doesn't work all that great for voip. This was one of the reasons why I bought this and it doesn't seems to prioritize traffic that great. I used the manual settings as well as the guided ones, doesn't make a difference. The print server only works with very few printers (all of which are 5+ years old it seems). However if your looking for a router that preforms decently without those features, this is a great basic router.

Pros:very easy to setup, cheap

Last summer I installed a linksys router for my sister and I have to admit it took me a while to figure out how to setup the thing. I was looking into another brand for my own router in the hope it would be easier to setup. I found my answer with the WL-520GU. The ezsetup application is user friendly and network illiterates like myself will have no problem to set it up. The range covers the entire apartment whitout a problem. I have just started to explore the advance settings and there seems to a lot options available.I didn't try the printer sharing thing. The sale price was great and the PP price is great too. I would totally recommend this router.

Works strait out of the box. Very easy software but quite frankly, too easy. It gives you no power user options on setup. It's meant for first timers but it definitely works. Good packaging, would buy it again.

Pros:Easy to setup, many config options, print server.
Comment:
I was just looking for a router/access point to compliment my new EEEpc, and am totally impressed with this buy. I didn't use the EZ setup, but configuring was easy and surprisingly well layed out with plenty of options. The bonus to this router is that it includes a USB print server (expect to see this standard on routers in the near future). I get great reception throughout the house with the router in the basement, which was a big concern for me. Overall very satisfied, no complaints here (other than it's the only white component on my desk!).

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:- Can not print to Dell 1110. Print hangs the AP. Job prints after the router restart;- Almost all settings config change require AP to restart (30 seconds)- Problems with VoIP box

Pros:- universal (110-200) power adaptor;- cold (compare to Trendnet, that most likely died because of it);- overall good manufacturing quality;
Comment:
Unable to print via Dell 1110. Only very small print jobs (small single page text) are printing. Anything bigger makes AP to hang and not respond even via Web interface. Print out comes out after the AP restart. But after power restart another problem occurs - my VoIP DVG-1120 can not connect to provider. It obtains the IP from AP but unable to connect to provider. It connects only after AP web-restart. So I have to go to any settings, and do Save&Restart even I didn't change anything. After that VoIP works fine. It did work fine on the same settings on Trendnet TEW-431BRP At the opposite, Trendnet TEW-431BRP needed to be restarted from time to time (~2 times a week) due to connectivity problem with the notebookSoftware is buggy and needs much to be done. I reported the bugs to Asus. No response but I hope they'll look in to it. This review was modfied by poster @ 09-19-07 10:59 AM
