Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power Power Supply
Comment:
Modular, incredibly straightforward to install and quiet. The availability of SATA and dual 6-pin connectors avoids needing any adapters. All the cables are nice and extended so they reached everywhere in the case as needed. None I saw. This is my initially time getting a modular power supply and I'm quite pleased with the flexibility it gives me. My case is so considerably much less cluttered considering that I didn't have to discover a location inside the case for a bunch of unused connectors.

Installed pretty straightforward, though the match was a bit different than the existing provide, modular cabling was nice, runs very quiet compared to the old provide (but the fan had been going out for awhile and was producing a racket like a diesel engine). All in all, no challenges None so far. Purchased this energy provide a single year ago. Installed to replace the 300something watt PSU that shipped with my Dell XPS400

Installed this in my Cooler Master Storm Scout case (a bottom PSU mounted case). Never ever appears to get hot and runs reasonably quiet. The modular cabling is good while given that I'm operating five difficult drives I have to use all the cables anyways. The tweed cable can be your buddy & enemy as it supplies for a much more rugged yet stiffer sleeve. The biggest stretch was for the CPU power connection (since it's in a bottom mounted case) but it still reached. Seeing as I leave my computer on a lot for rendering, energy efficiency was a ought to. The only con I could see is if you have a bottom mounted energy provide and a huge graphics card in which it might be difficult reaching that CPU power pin. Working reliably so far with a mildly overclocked PhenomII 955 and a 6850 videocard. The fan is not silent but nonetheless relatively quiet. It does the job, so it's really hard to be unfavorable.

Very quiet, created for bottom mounting, clean with modular wires. mine came with a faulty power switch. Once I turned it on...it's stuck and can't be turned off again. Not a big deal, but adequate to loose 1 egg.Antec case with cable management, but the Antec power provide has quick cables that can't make a great deal use of that space. Perhaps Antec could anticipate individuals installing a modular PS in a case with cable managment.

It does what it's supposed to (power your system) and the modular power cables do aid cut down on clutter in your case (which is the key cause I got it) The fan is louder than I believed it would be. I used to have an Antec Truepower that was extremely quiet (I'm utilizing it in an HTPC) and this was a quite noticible bump up from what I expected.I can live with the elevated noise but if you're searching to get a thing for an HTPC, this may possibly not be your ideal selection.

Modular Defective fan out of the box -- creating a ticking noise; from time to time loud sometimes soft. Probably a defective bearing and the fan will probably cease functioning soon. I will have to rip it out and RMA back to Antec -- not a entertaining job. Not sure what is suppose to run my personal computer in the meantime. Guess I'll have to go waste my funds on a different power provide. Thanks Antec. This was my last effort at giving Antec a different likelihood. I use to buy their energy supplies with just about every make and they would generally only last about a year. Believed I just got unlucky due to the fact they have a excellent reputation. I feel soon after I get this refurbished one particular back, I'm going to sell it, cut my losses, and by no means look at Antec once again.

Reasonably quiet. I have it in the SilverStone GD04B case (HTPC setup), and while the program is audible, it's quiet enough that I won't bother figuring out which fan is making the most noise. It's not completely modular. No gripes about the motherboard connector, but the PCI-E could've been modular. Still, it leaves lots of room to perform with in my certain box. It's not as great as a larger-end Corsair I purchased for my workhorse machine, but it was drastically much less high priced. Quite affordable deal for the cost.

Great Antec modular power supply! I really like being in a position to pick the cables that I will need. Genuinely helps to do away with the clutter inside the case. The supply is installed in an Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower case, and it fits perfectly. Pleanty of power to run most anything that I opt for to install, although providing power for future installations. In common, I have constantly gotten great service from Antec goods. None so far Modular cables are genuinely good.

Stable, Rather, no difficulties so far A sad attempt at becoming modular. I purchased mainly because I was looking for a great PSU that was also modular. What I got was half-modular. This PSU has a 20Ʋ Mobo power, fourƲ CPU power, and 6ư PCIe power hardwired. There are only five modular cables, two sets of four molex, two sets of four SATA and a 6 pin PCIe. My make has 2 SATA HDDs and an SATA optical drive but the optical drive was just also far away from the HDDs to use only one particular of the SATA energy cable so I was forced to connect both cables. I'm also utilizing a Mobo with an on-board GPU so I have no need to have for the hardwired 6ư PCIe cable (what a waste). The cable may well be handy when/if I upgrade to a discrete GPU but until then I would have favored the capacity to get rid of it. I would like to have observed much more flexibility in the modular design. a better design would have both PCIe cables modular and possibly 4 sets of two Molex and 4 sets of two SATA. I'm still giving this 4 eggs mainly because it is a stable and really PSU (that's what's important in the end), I was also capable to leave off two of the modular cables so some space was saved. It will serve it's purpose, hopefully for a lengthy time.

-three HIGH amperage 12v rails ྶ, 22, 25 = 828w obtainable)-Substantial 120mm Fan blows out (won't blow hot air into your case)-Modular cable system, great cable length and easy management-Antec reliability None so far You have to be cautious with PSU's, so quite a few men and women affordable out and get affordable, no-name brands that have 2x 14a rails (or worse, 1 16a rail), thinking that just because it says it can put out 500w that it will be a great PSU. Antec is a trustworthy and constant brand, and this unit is in particular beefy in their mainstream lineup. I paid about 50 bucks for it and it's worth every penny.

Great upgrade for my Dell XPS 420. Had a 375W Dell OEM PS and needed to upgrade for my upcoming GTX460 1GB GPU upgrade.Modular cabling is great. Nothing at all hanging about unused in the case. Unsure why they include things like the molex connectors, but I suppose some men and women are nonetheless clinging to their old tech. Fan helps tremendously in the XPS 420 case and blows cool air straight on the GPU. Took my MSI 8800GT 512MB down 2-four° C. Cables are a touch brief for the XPS 420's lower-mounted HDD bays. I made it operate, but the cables barely created it below the CPU heatsink/shroud assembly. It doesn't match the stock Dell OEM PS perfectly in size, and is a bit smaller. There is a 1ǚ" gap amongst the PS and the back grill, but the great news is that the PS fits. Much greater to have a smaller 1 than bigger one, where you may well have to modify the case. ;) Taking the old Dell OEM PS out is a cinch. Just remove the GPU, CPU HSF/shroud assembly, and unplug every thing (I even unplugged my SATA I/O connectors just to get them out of the way but this isn't necessary). Now just unsnap the cable housings from the chassis and pull the cables. Lay your new cabling into the cable housings and snap them back together. Replace the CPU HSF/shroud assembly and GPU. Hook up your power. Voila!

Modular, and a good cost Mine has started to make a static like zzt noise, that comes and goes randomly. Checked it in two distinct setups/cases, and its certainly the psu and not the fan. This was my initially antec psu and most likely my last. So im going with a corsair 650w instead. Of course could have been a undesirable lot. So i am getting type best get as an alternative attempting to RMA is annoying, and if i have troubles its a uncomplicated return.
