Antec Sonata III 500 Black Computer Case
Comment:
Reasonably quiet, but not "whisper" quiet, as some claim. But overall a quite nice case. I'd obtain it once more. Lots of sata energy cables....very cool slide out drive trays. A piece of the plastic cover (that locks out access of the dvd drive and On button) broke on the very very first time I swung the cover on its hinge. Time to get out the crazy glue! But this is the only con, so far.

With the front door closed you couldn't ask for a much better office machine case. Very quiet, quite neat. Integrated power provide is ultra quiet and hugely rated. It has all the cables you could possibly want, even E-SATA. Reset/off buttons behind the front door.Rear three speed case fan is just a manual switch. With the front door open, it looks low-cost, bay covers don't match snugly.Otherwise I would give it 5 eggs. The fan operating on the slowest speed is inaudible, middle speed produces a quite slight hum, high speed is somewhat noisy. The old turbo-jet that I was utilizing does color my perceptions a bit, this sucker is dead quiet in comparison ;)

I got a Sonata III v2, appears like a revised version. Integrated the newer green-case 500 watt Earthwatts power supply, 80 plus bronze, also on Newegg. PS fan is quiet. HD mounts have thicker grommets for lowered vibration than my original Sonata. This version eliminates silver faceplate for gloss black, appears superior to me anyway. I've experienced no static discharge like some have reported with the front USB. I tested a few distinct external devices with front USB, no difficulties. Front USB cable uses regular Intel connectors for mobo connection. Sufficient area for all elements, Radeon 4850, 4 HD, 1 optical drive, stock i5 heatsink. Door more than optical drives appears solid enough. Antec tri-cool three speed case fan is quiet on medium, quite quiet on low. Front Audio jacks perform fine, but I have to push challenging to get the connectors in appropriately. Case fan was mounted directly to the case with screws. I replaced the screws with rubber lugs. You have to open the case door to turn it on, a bit annoying. Power button feels like it could be a small flimsy, but we'll see. Seems to be a grounding lug on the floor of the case, but it's not connected to anything. Possibly for eliminating static difficulties in earlier revisions. Below the tough drive rack there are 4 raised bumps with screw holes on the floor of the case, possibly for mounting a 2.5 inch drive, but I'm not confident. I liked my original Sonata, this new case seems to be a good evolutionary improvement more than that one particular.

1. Great Hunting. Not a Neo-gothic comic book gamer case.Appropriate for any designer pad or high finish workplace. 2. Quiet, but not silent when paired with Earthwatts 500w Energy provide.3. Roomy with out having to get a Mongo Complete size.four. Removable/cleanable Dust filter truly assists. Wish it came in other colors such as a Navy Blue or 'Aluminum-appear' non-shiny silver. Purchased the pairing as my decision in a custom technique three years ago. No troubles. Running sturdy and without scratches on case.Roomy mid without having getting to get monster.Removable Dust fitler really helps. My old situations were often dusty inside. You know, clinging to some diffcult regions no matter what. Now, regardless of the reality I have my case in a carpeted dusty corner under my desk, this case's importrant locations on the mb remain immaculate except for the unimportant locations close to the intake side.

Quiet, nice-hunting, room for all of my components. The rubber gaskets on the drive sleds are good. A tiny tight, even if anything fits. Cabling is a mess, but that's my fault so no egg off for that. This case houses my hackintosh method.

Good case. Fantastic flexibility and slide-in trays for HD and DVD.The slide in trays speed up the make and this final one was only about an hour. No wicked sharp edges to slice you up. Massive fan with 3-speed switch. Energy supply is nice and stable with plenty of connectors. The complete thing is pretty quiet. I like the locking door on the side that keeps prying fingers out of the unit soon after it's up and operating. Just about all cases that I get are dented somewhere. The Antec situations (my 2nd one) are extremely nicely packaged and the carton wasn't damaged. This means that this went in the carton with a ding in the best. Appears to me that the Chinese are struggling with the notion of quality manage. Is this part of why they can make factors more affordable than the rest of the manufacturing world?? This is a new build for our shop but if I had been buying this for myself I would be upset about the dent on the top rated in the front. This looks to have happened before it was painted. I would give five eggs if not for the dent.I am now standardizing the builds for our business and I will be employing this case from now on. They aren't the least expensive out there but when you figure you get a fantastic good quality power provide with the case the price tag makes more sense. I watch for these on sale now.

straightforward to install almost everything, effectively laid out As mentioned in some of the other evaluations, there is a large challenge with static discharge. For me, it specifically happens on the front panel USB ports. The very first time I noticed it was when my screen went blank upon plugging in a USB flash drive to the front panel. Had to reset CMOS prior to my pc would reboot. About a week later, it happened once more, only this time it zapped my difficult drives. I lost a huge iTunes library and some documents. Large discomfort in the rear to recover files, reinitialize hard drives, and reinstall windows. Now I've disconnected the front panel from the motherboard and have tape over the panel just to be on the secure side.I'm purchasing for a new case now.

Antec Sonata III 500 Black Computer Case
Cons:Case temp may get a little hot, better ventilation design is restricted by its rather compact design. It's a tradeoff. Not recommended for gaming which usually requires extra long video card + extra heat dissipation or 24/7 server stations.

Pros:Quiet and convenient workstation case for home/office use.Built in power supply by Antec and it's a adequate performer. Elegant looking case, suitable for general use application.
Comment:
It still remains a great buy for one looking for an easy solution at a general use workstation case at the get go.

Had this considering that November of last year and it functions completely. Quite and cool! did buy a different 120mm fan to go in it and have never ever had an challenge. Even installed a GX2 video card in it and with a thin fan worked completely. The 500 watt energy provide is good but if you want to run a heavy duty video card get a bigger supply. Did I say it was quiet ... This thing is a lot more silent than my external hard drive after it's all put together. Yes the front door is plastic but it's not the cheapo stuff from other manufactures. It has lots of rolled steel and no sharp edges I've discovered. The blue lights on the front plus the USB, ESATA and Headset plugs are way cool! The removable trays for the hd's are excellent as properly as side mounted. Came with lots of screws to mount a lot more than a single. The black finish is to perfection nearly ... Makes your desk appear so radddd! LOL It didn't install the hardware for me. It has area to spare for most video cards and all energy supplies I've attempted match properly in it. No troubles with heat even using a way hot video card if you get the extra fan in there.

Excellent 500w Energy provide incorporated. Swappable bays. Simple aesthetics. Reusable front air filter. Place for SSD. Black case is much uglier/drab in real life that the silverish depiction. Low cost plastic door that encloses bays doesn't close appropriately. Not especially quiet. A decent worth all round.

Antec Sonata III 500 Black Computer Case
Comment:
This was my 1st build, and I had a buddy assist. Case did not bring about any difficulty in the assembly. Came with all the hardware needed for instillation. A lot of Room inside. Effortlessly fit the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+. Incredibly quiet with fan on medium setting. Lock on front is a plus for me with the 18 month old hurricane I have running around the home. With the Hyper 212 and program fan very good adequate airflow to retain CPU at 50 deg, and sys temp in low to mid 40's operating prime 95. I do not have vid card installed. Shiny finish looks good but scratches simply. It took all of 5 minutes for my kid to scratch the top. Also Sys Fan does not come with cord to plug it into mobo to adjust speeds. To adjust fan you have to crack open case, which actually is not that tough. I guess you could quickly by an following marketplace fan if it was a major deal to you. I have no regrets receiving this case, I guess if you had been concerned about heat, yet another case with top or side ventilation would be better, if you are searching for quiet and roomy, this is good.

- Solid construction- Reasonably excellent style- Massive enough to accommodate most elements - That stupid, flimsy plastic front door!- Poorly-fitted side panel, cheap rails, etc.- NOT A QUIET CASE!! You get what you spend for, a serviceable conservative-seeking low-end case with a decent 500W power supply. The quality won't knock your socks off if you've worked with high-finish situations, but it'll get the job done and present a solid value. On the other hand, be warned: The only point quiet about this case is the word "SILENCE" on the box. The included power provide fan and 120mm case fan are only average noise-wise, and this case does Absolutely nothing to include noise. There's no sound dampening material, and air/sound flow are largely uncontrolled so even a modest create in this case is louder than a basic office desktop. This case is a excellent selection for a low-finish create, but for a quiet make you'd be better off retrofitting your old beige brick case with a quiet power provide and good quality 120mm fans.

Incredibly sturdy and roomy. Power supply cables and front panel cables are really extended. Darn close to silent. Cables on the power provide and front panel are also extended, which tends to make cable management a challenge. Even so the inclusion of an eyelet on the bottom of the case's interior permits for the use of a zip tie. I totally love the removable hard drive trays with gromets and the rails for the 5.25" drives. Assembly in this case was a breeze save for the cable management. Functioning with this case reminds me why I only utilized Antec circumstances.

Nicely completed, no dents or scratches. Every little thing that's supposed to be in box is truly there. Incredibly quiet operation. Effortless assembly with slide out trays for DVD and HD. Power provide is high excellent and is power efficient. Situation is hefty wall and not total of razor edges to slice you up. Went on sale the day it was delivered. Often I just can't win. :( This is the 3rd Antec 500 situation that I have bought in the last year. They are now a build normal at our shop and none of the customers complain at all. We all like the looks and how quiet it runs. You can't go incorrect with this situation. There are less costly instances but this is an example of acquiring what you spend for.

The clip that holds the front door closed broke and doesn't keep closed any longer, but additional my fault so no eggs off. Not confident if this is a motherboard issue, but when working with the front audio jacks with my headphones, I hear a staticky whistle, and gets seriously loud if I connect anything to the front usb ports. When I have my headphones plugged into the motherboard's audio jacks, no staticky whistle, and no noise when I connect stuff to the motherboard or media card reader usb ports. This is the third Antec Sonata situation/psu combo I've owned (Sonatas I, II, and now III). The I and II housed transplanted guts of two large name pc manufacture's merchandise that basically outgrew their case/psu's limited expansion space, and allowed me to extend their lives far beyond common lifespan for computer systems. When I decided it was time to jump into the quad core industry and attempt my initial make, I turned to a brand I was familiar with. A lot more than a year later, I can say that just about every thing went as smoothly as I expected it would. The sound situation I talked about may be a rub on my Asus mb rather than the situation, due to the fact I mistakenly got a mb that employed Through onboard rather of the Realtek onboard I've had no troubble with on preceding machines. I won't deduct an egg from the case when there's no conclusive proof its the case producing my sound concerns.

where to commence?-quiet-silicone grommets on HDD inserts function excellent for shock dampening.-constantly mfg. defects.-did i mention quiet?-good convex 80mm fan grill to preserve things secure. also less complicated to clean.-extra air ports just above cardslots.-slotted port covers, so they keep exactly where you place them.-Antec 500w PSU excellent for backup, or barebones technique. -broke the door off the very first a single I owned. Watch it!-door latch can be a bit 'sticky'. Once it's been utilized a handful of occasions, it does what it should.-umm-got absolutely nothing else I own 3, and 1 of the lil' brothers (ANTEC Sonata Proto) and I really like them.

Really easy to perform in and if you know what you're executing, you can dress the wiring quite nicely in this case. I have employed a bunch of these instances and they have been wonderful. The three speed 120mm fan is super quiet on low and nevertheless moves a excellent volume of air. The power provide is typical, but it is 500w, seems really stable, and is also extremely quiet. (I am a freak for quiet on the computers I make and sell). The are only 2 slight cons with this case. One particular is the door. I am not a major fan of doors on cases, but if the computer is on the left of the user, it is not a huge deal. (The door opens to the left.) It is a properly constructed door and hinge. The second con is the Piano Black is a dust and fingerprint magnet massive time. But, just wipe it down as soon as in a though! Neither con is a deal breaker. You can't go wrong with this case and it is a very nice searching case. I would extremely recommend it.
