Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:The antenna supplied could have been bigger.
Pros:It is compact and portable. It does what it promises Comment:
I bought this item because I want to be able to watch TV while on the road. When I tried it for the first time, I was able to get one channel, and I could only hear sound. I had to place the supplied antenna next to a window in order to get some sort of picture. Then, I tried to plug it into my cable connection, and it was able to pick up about 15 channels. The channels were clear and the audio was noticeable. |

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:Bundle WinTV application not suitable for HDTV
Pros:Stable signal receptionCompact size Comment:
After having little success with the AverMedia A180 HDTV PCI tuner, I decided to go with the Hauppauge WINTV-HVR-950, which is far superior in terms of signal strength of HDTV channels. I am using a amplified HDTV antenna indoor and is able to watch HDTV channels with smooth movements. Even with bad weather the signals do not go below %50. The only downside is the incorrect aspect ratio of HDTV channels when using the bundled WinTV software with no way to correct it. Using the free WatchHDTV software solves this. |

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:Software glitches, awkward to setup with dual display. Some Scheduler menu windows are too big for their frames; can't adjust, can't see "OK" or "Close". Really basic bugs.
Pros:Superb picture on 24" 1920x1200 LCD, better than DVD.Pulls in about eight HDTV stations in east Toronto on a simple dipole antenna. Comment:
The HVR-950 has excellent performance for the price. Should be amazing on a real antenna. If Hauppauge or a third party come up with better software, this will be a real winner. |
From a company like Hauppauge who seem to specialize in this type of hardware I was quite surprised they would release a product with no stereo for cable connections - which is what I intended on using it for as I'm in a building and ATSC wouldn't work well.
