Brother HL-2270DW Monochrome Wireless Laser Printer with Duplex
Comment:
Prints rapidly. Duplxer. Wired and Wireless B/G. Much additional economical than InkJets for monochrome printing. Setup was a discomfort due to Brother not stream lining the method. The included utility does not pick up the printer so I had to figure every little thing out on my personal. I place up a comprehensive explanation on an additional important retailers internet site, beneath the unit assessment. (Rhymes with Bamazon) ;) Saw the superb critiques of the HL-2170W, which is practically the same unit but with no the duplexer, so I took a opportunity on this one particular. I am incredibly satisfied since it holds true for every thing that printer can do plus far more.

Smaller form factor, wireless printing, automobile duplex, and help for Windows 7 64. Cost was proper. Fan makes a tiny bit of racket, but not too bad. Wireless setup without having very first working with usb conection could be a pain. I have a wonderfull older laser from another properly known manufacturer (SomethingP), switched all computers to Windows 7 64, no drivers. Saw this just before Thanksgiving, extremely pleased. Purchased one more a single for my son, a college student. Duplex is very cool.

- Automatic duplex printing- Ethernet or Wireless - No USB or Ethernet cable...but I have a bunch of both To the user who had Windows 7 spooler crashes, this is a known problem with Windows 7 and not specific to the Brother printer. I have noticed it happen with many HP printers also.Search on "vistax64 Print Spooler Not Running" and you will find the remedy of deleting the SHD and SPL files beneath C:\Windows\system32\Spool\Printers

I agree with other posts. Installation is straightforward, quick, great on Win7 64 bit and Win XP 32 bit, on the network. Purchased this soon after fighting with network installation of HP1022n. Loud fan when operating difficult, but not sufficient to lead to any hesitation. Some posts say flimsy construction; I wouldn't drop it, but don't let this stop you. Feels about the similar as the HP 1022n.

Double side print is a must to save paper.Rapidly just like any other laser printer.Big paper tray to hold 250.Setup as wireless printer is seriously easy. None so far. Got this on sale. Auto duplex print is the function I actually want, and it operates!

Uncomplicated set-up with usb connection. Printed copy is outstanding. Prints in duplex. Starter toner cartridge only lasts about 400 pages rather of the promised 700 pages. When beginning to print a page the lights flicker. By no means had a light flickering problem with any other laser printer. There is an occasional humming sound from my speakers when the printer is beginning. For the cost this an excellent printer. However Brother ought to appropriate the flickering and humming issue. A bigger toner cartridge really should be included rather of the starter cartridge. It appears that Brother wants to make its dollars on replacement cartridges and drums.

Cheap to get. Easy to set up. Rapidly printing. No high priced inkjet cartridges to get. Comparatively quiet for a laserjet printer. No power issues identified as other folks have said. Aftermarket toner cartridges and toner refill kits are offered for significantly cheaper operation. Really like the alternative to use USB, ethernet, or a wireless connection. Prints a tad light for my taste. Haven't discovered a way to make the print darker but. Online users manual is not very clear on tweaking print settings. Substantial square footprint may be challenging to discover space for on your desktop. Takes up additional space than my old inkjet printer. As far as the power usage and lights dimming concerns. I feel this is a lot more of a function of overloaded and inadequate property power systems than the printer itself. I am an electrician and I have no troubles with lights dimming. If you only have an currently overloaded 15 amp circuit and tons of stuff plugged into it any further draw is going to make your lights dim momentarily. Same problem with the UPS systems. If your UPS is barely significant enough to power your existing equipment as most household units are of course it will bog down your program. This is no inkjet printer... Laserjets use additional power when printing that is a fact of life.

Good design, compact, light weight. Silent when in sleep mode.Extremely affordable. My OS X 10.6 didn't have drivers, but the included CD seemed to do a fairly clean set up (unlike some other printers). Fan is a bit noisy when in Ready mode (but sleep mode is silent).Normal print mode is 27ppm, but duplex print mode is a lot slower 10ppm ƕ double-sided pages). In Prepared mode, the printer appears to occasionally draw 1100 watts - this causes my desk lamp to flicker, and suggests you shouldn't plug this into an outlet with lots of other devices (or in a property with poor wiring). A buddy gave me an old HP laserjet 2100. When I saw how much a new toner cart. would expense, I realized I could get a new modern printer for much less costly, and it's 802.11G so I didn't have to run ethernet.Only had this 1 day, so take this with a grain of salt

Superior high quality printing, a lot fast for my wants, wireless setup, very good client service and priced low to acquire and run. The starter toner has a modest capacity so have a backup. I want customer service to aid with the wireless setup. None of the above is a accurate con simply because starter toners seem to be the norm from printer manufacturers and customer service got me up and operating wireless promptly.

prints seriously fast. seriously uncomplicated wired setup wireless setup is a discomfort unless you use CD. if you want to get it to operate by means of the network page read my other thoughts The 1 crucial thing to get wireless to function and its mentioned in the manual on 1 section on 1 page... is to hit the Wireless pin in the back of the printer! Its a tiny factor that you can punch with a pen/pencil/ clip. you hit it though, follow the actions below to set up wireless very first.First connect printer with wired ethernet connection. uncover the printer's ip by way of your router. Use browser login to printer http://routerip, aka http:/롘.168.1.x, then go to Network Configuration> "Configure Wireless" link and sort in your network information. Click on Wireless tab>> "Configure TCP/IP" and set it up as either static IP or DHCP (and give it a static IP from your router). In either case youll want to reserve the IP in the router for the printer so no other machine takes that IP. Make positive to reserve the wireless MAC address and not the wired mac. Then disconnect the wired connection of printer and restart it (aka power cycle). Also try allow/disable in "Configure TCP/IP" to resta

Good printer!Printed around 100 pages in duplex and have never ever had a paper jam. Print speed is very good. Duplex works good & the wireless is spot on.2600 page replacement toner. The toner cartridge it ships with is lacking. I got roughly 75 pages printed (in duplex so 𞳆 total) prior to I got toner replacement warnings. About 100 pages it would not print anything at all till I replaced the toner cartridge.I am pretty new to laser printers but the last couple of pages it printed ahead of stopping were excellent whereas inkjets you could see the fading inks. Maybe it just knows specifically when its time to replace? Either way not an concern given that Newegg has wonderful rates on the 2600 page toner cartridge. The wireless setup can be a bit of a hassle but if you take your time and READ THE Instructions its uncomplicated. My pride gets crushed a little when I resort to reading the manual but it will save you time and make you laugh at how effortless it actually is.

Excellent Value, Volumous toner, helpful alternatives and preferences. (when they perform)Looks like it is properly created. The auto duplexing is really superior. -Makes the lights dim! Each and every time this laser printer prepares to print, the lights dim, flicker and my UPSs start off to beep.-Typical bothersome Brother software program setup.-Regardless of altering the preferences to automobile-sleep, it remains operating. I removed 2 eggs because this factor is a power hog. I tried my wife's Canon laser printer in the very same outlet and there was no light dimming draw on the electricity.Far more worrisome is the ongoing electrical fluctuations even right after it ran.I'm concerned it's going to take out some of my equipment despite the UPSs and surge strips in use.I would not advocate this item.

Very fast printingpaper cartridge (used to have 1 that best loaded)wireless and wiredduplex printinglow price for the characteristics Type of noisy even though printinginitial wireless setup not that good but when it's set up it just works. I'm not having the lights flickering issues numerous other people have reported. Not confident why. I can guarantee my lights are on the very same circuit as the printer. The wireless was a discomfort in the neck to get working correctly (without working with the auto setup stuff) but once I got it connected it works good. Make positive you're at the most recent firmware. It appears people today with older firmware had troubles with the wireless connection dropping out in sleep mode.

Wireless functions fantastic! When I set it up, I moved it to various locations in my house. It worked flawlessly in all locations. The speed is good and like the duplex. Print high quality is also extremely good. A little tricky at first to get the wireless set up, but not a major deal. It wasn't fairly as simple as a Samsung laser printer that I lately purchased for my parents. I prefer this one over the Samsung simply because of the duplex. As soon as I got the wireless set up, it hasn't missed a beat. Fast and good quality prints every time. Functions great for envelopes too.

Price, Quickly, high quality, WIRELESS connectivity, duplex printing, ease of setup none Utilizing this in a home office that includes two macs running snow leopard. Setup/installation couldn't have been simpler...only insert the cd in go through the prompts. Wireless Setup literally took 3-five minutes on each mac! Duplex printing is fantastic, prints 1 side then sucks the paper back in and prints the other side. Couldn't be happier! This is my second Brother laser printer and both work fantastic!

Prints black and white text and picutres properly. Wifi connectivitiy makes it possible for me to use the printer anyplace in my residence. This printer printed a 180 page book, double sided without challenge. The included setup utility was not the most useful. To get the printer to perform in my Wi-Fi setup, I had to tell my routher to assign the printer a perminate IP address so windows could use it.Otherwise no complaints. I only use the printer when in a even though. I went with a lazer printer since I didn't want to deal with ink drying up and I loved the duplexing function.

Prints fast. Was on sale. The newest drivers doesn't appear to perform on Windows 7 Sp1 completely updated. I had to go to "Devices and Printers" and add it in. (also I picked LTP, and then I click on the icon to fix 2clicks. then reboot.) And then it functions fine.PS: WiFi setup didn't perform for me. Even with wifi enable. I could attempt Canon printer next time about.

Good printer; duplex, wired, USB, and wireless functions like a charm. Toner is really cheaper than what I expected, which is often a plus.Works perfectly on my rather complex residence network that entails three routers, two Mac machines, 2 Windows machines, and a Linux machine. When it warms up to print, 1 of the printer's fan makes a noise that is slightly uncomfortable for my ears, but that is almost certainly just a smaller defect in the bearings of this 1 fan. Bought the printer to replace a inkjet printer that was drinking ink like it was liquid crack. Did some math and decided that it would be more affordable to acquire a laser printer rather than continually acquiring ink for my inkjet. I will, even so, still preserve my inkjet printer for the times I need to have to print color.Getting the IT "pro" I am (work for an IT department at the local university), I attempted to set up the printer's wireless without having reading the directions. Needless to say following 3 hours I nonetheless couldn't get anything to print on it. The next day I decided to let go of my stupid ego and pull out the instructions. 15 minutes later I was printing from all 5 computers.Moral of the story: Read the instructions.

Does what it is supposed to do.To those complaining about dimming lights, All laser printers tend to do that. They have high temperature fusers which will draw a lot of power in order to reach operating temperature. Also, if you have a UPS, DO NOT EVER HOOK LASER PRINTERS to your UPS. I can harm both, your printer and the UPS. Just leave printers out of your battery backed up circuit. None.

Excellent top quality, easy setup if following the manual Noisy when printing I ordered the printer on Cyber Black Monday and it arrived the subsequent day. Wireless setup is simple if you just follow the directions. It wants a USB cable or Ethernet cable for the wireless setup but does not have one in the package. Wants to install the driver on each computer.

Compact / tiny foot print After printing a few pages all of the leds start to flash, indicating a "service call". Upon hitting the GO button the next series of led flashes show that there is a fan failure. I can reset the machine to print again, but the failure reoccurs. A little loud. RMA back for a replacement - I think the 1 dollar fan isn't working correct. I'll try my luck on another one. Everyone else seems to have very good luck, why can't I!ŋ

Extremely nice when (if) it works. Doesn't really function but. I set my printer up, and utilized it in a wired configuration. two days later, I tried to print once more, but the printer had disappeared from my network. I tried to reset it's IP. I tried to attach wirelessly. I am at present spending my third hour trying to make this printer function. I'll be calling Brother tomorrow to see if they can support. I have attached three wired printers, 1 wireless printer, 3 wireless computers, and five game systems to my network, and never had this a lot difficulty. Good luck installing it if you get it. If it works, you got a excellent deal.
