I purchased three and they work like champs; I really like the software program simply because it is user friendly, installs quick and just functions. Even functions with Adobe to scan and produce pdf's. None so far If you purchase a HP, you would be in a planet of difficulty. They make wonderful hardware but fail miserably on the computer software in my opinion. I assume Brother is kicking HP for the time being.

Two of our departments print about two thousand pages a month, so im replacing the toner at least the moment a month. Even so, reliability on these issues have been spectacular. Since our toner is low cost from LD, its no worries. There a bit flimsy so i wouldn't suggest moving them around. Network and web interface settings are simple to setup utilizing an IP port. Toners on these will need to be switched out very generally. We use remanufactured toner purchased in bulk, just to get a good price tag, but we burn by way of them result in they aren't rated for extremely several pages. Not necessarily great for high volume use. I replace our toner about when every single month, nonetheless, reliability is wonderful. hardware seems like it could break effortless but so far its held up to a high volume departments use without any breaking. but you get what you spend for, and so far, we've gotten alot more than that in terms of value.

Have purchased a number of other people without a difficulty. Printer was defective out of the box. Brother client help is horrendous. It'd be good to speak to somebody in America but that is not an selection. Option from them was to obtain a refurbished printer. Will not purchase one more Brother item once more due to their lack of buyer service.

It has a tiny foot print. The software program was effortlessly installed. Then I uninstalled the components I didn't want. Smooth operation. I was going to get just a printer to replaced the a single that had gone belly up, but due to the fact my scanner was nearing 10 years old, I believed that 1 of these all in one units would be good. Specifically contemplating my cramped workplace space. No worries I haven't employed the fax, nor the network connection. I have utilized the scanner but not the sheet feeder. I print mainly postal labels. Since the labels are large, I just let them feed by way of the machine and out the front. It functions dandy.Since I use this unit about every single other day, and don't use the fax, to save energy I switch off the printer. Considering that it is mainly plastic, I handle it very carefully. I don't feel I could beat on it and have it last. But I treat my stuff with care and it pays off.I constantly purchase my stuff from Newegg since the catalog layout is excellent and the critiques are top rated notch. I hope this 1 assists other folks.

It functions completely beneath Linux! Even though Linux support is not advertised on the box or in item specs, it is really substantially there and quite robust. Brother supplies drivers & great directions for widespread distros (e.g. Ubuntu 9.ten and Red Hat-based). CUPS saw it correct away.Print top quality is exceptional. There is a path to feed paper devoid of bending - handy for printing on thick stock or envelopes.Faxing features are also quite a few to list, and they work.Printing is Inexpensive. It functions out to a thing like 2¢/page for toner, if you get the high-capacity cart (TN-360). Brother carts are a greater deal than numerous other brands.Windows XP drivers install simply. Comes with Scansoft PaperPort 11, an outstanding scanning package. Pages scan as individual sheets you can stack nonetheless you please, to control their order in the resulting *.pdf file. It's virtually as good as acquiring Adobe Acrobat, but lots cheaper. It does draw really a bit of energy. My lights dim slightly when it comes out of sleep mode, so this may not be the best printer for eco-weenies.No auto-duplexer, but due to the fact printing is so low-cost (see above) this is a minor shortcoming. I by no means knew what I was missing, becoming stuck all those years with a lousy Winprinter - and an inkjet at that - rather than a true, networkable, multifunction laser. The MFC-7440N is so considerably greater than what it replaced (Canon Multipass F60) that the Canon product (any inkjet actually) looks like a toy by comparison. Everybody on my home LAN can print to the MFC-7440N, fax, or scan from it, in a mixed Windows/Linux environment.Loads of network functions. Can scan or forward incoming faxes to an FTP address of your deciding on.Buying about, I noticed that you typically have to spend 贄+ a lot more to get an auto-duplexing mono laser. If you need to have duplexing, you possibly want the bigger & far more costly Brother MFC-8480DN.

I have no regrets about purchasing this printer. For the value I got it, I could not ask for a far better printer that has network capability. It was quite straightforward to connect the printer to my network and I was off an printing appropriate away. The document feeder also functions very nicely and is quite handy for all those important documents I have been scanning in to develop digital archives. The only unfavorable I have about this printer is that the second paper tray (the 1 that opens in the front and is for fundamentally single pages at a time) only allows a couple inches worth of the sheet to be supported. The rest of the sheet is dangling so it is pretty significantly impossible to have much more than 1 sheet at a time in that feeder. I have 5 computers on the network and all have no problem talking with the printer. I can\'t speak to the faxing capability as I do not use that function, but the rest of the features operate properly.

Setup was a breeze. Wired network setup was flawless. Printed utilizing a Mac, the s/w installed and setup with out a hitch. Page excellent is fantastic. Have not tried scanning or faxing but. Was going to get color but the cost of numerous toner cartridges is what created me choose to stick with monochrome for now.

This was less complicated to install than my USB printer. All I did was set it up, plug it in to the A/C and network port, run the cd installer and I was performed. All I had to do to get it to work on my laptops was to use the cd to install it. Prints pretty quickly and is fairly very compared to the laser printer I use at work. Its a little pricey, but my wife wanted an all-in-one and I wanted a laser and network port. Brother is a superior brand. Had been I work we have numerous brother branded laser network printers and do not have trouble with them.

Affordable Had to RMA the initially 1 after about 45 days due to print good quality. The second lasted about the exact same and would quit printing following a while(maybe over heating). Brother wouldn't replace it b/c this problem was intermittent. Finally, it starting creating a genuinely load noise from the fuser so Brother decided to send me an additional unit. Maybe this 1 will last longer? These are poorly created units in my opinion but I guess you get what you pay for.

Wonderful printer for the price. 1 of the superior multifunction printers with a document feeder in this price range. Works with both Windows and Mac environments. Network scanning and printing. None that I can feel of. It works specifically like I expected it to function.

fairly compact, network plug-and-play, windows and osx, sheet feed that copies, faxes or scans to PDF, in my encounter incredibly dependable, print and scan excellent is great Energy surge when it wakes, tiny/cryptic on-printer display is tough to use without the manual, I uncover it ugly...actually ugly, and as quite a few have stated plastic feels seriously affordable I went by way of a HP and a Canon prior to I landed on this all-in-one. It was far more high-priced but I wanted something that would let me scan or fax and plug into the network and be utilized from my macs or pcs. Here's what I do with it day in and day out: I send faxes from the unit by means of the top feed, I print to it through macs and pcs via it's ethernet connection, and I scan from it to pcs and macs from the leading feed. I've also scanned odd sized items on the flat bed, and received faxes. I'm completely happy with this ugly factor. It's not without having quirks, but the print top quality is excellent and fast-sufficient for a small office. The fax is adequate. And the top feed scanner is the thing that I enjoy -- whenever I need to scan stuff, I throw them in the feed, walk over to my laptop or computer -- mac or pc -- and hit that 1 button. A small bit later up pops a PDF with the scan that I send off. The scan is never ever perfectly straight, but it's never jammed on me.

overall this printer is wonderful! great high quality, toner lasts a long time and is less expensive than 1 set of ink for an inkjet!prints wonderful on regular printer paper, heavy letterhead, envelopes, and labels. every now and then the manual feeder will "jam". nothing truly jams, it just claims there is a jam. opening up the front cover and shutting it usually takes care of the "jam"

seems to do specifically what I will need, scan to email, fax, print rapidly, copy, (with a flat top)....holds plenty of paper, and the cartridge appears to last forever....(but of course it will run out right now given that I stated that) this is definately not for a high demand office situation, but is excellent for my household company office.......the plastic construction seems a little flimsy, but I have not had anything break or any troubles with the design, I just would not want my 3 y.o. playing around with the flat best lid or worse......a bunch of folks in an office slammin compartment doors on it immediately after the skimpy initial cartridge died, I ordered a lazer refill on the internet cheap and it is still cranking out copies about a year later, and and have had best resultsplus I paid alot additional for mine, but Not from the EGG!

Perfect for small office!
Comment:
I bought this printer to replace several machines in the office. It has been a joy to work with! Not only did it free up a lot of space, but the multifunctions work great over the network. It was easy to set up, only taking about 10 minutes to unpack and connect. Drivers were a snap, as all I had to do was point to it over the network and say use this as default. For the scanning and remote fax functions, I had to download drivers from the website for my 7, but it was quick and painless to install. Print speed is as advertised. Fast warm up (about 10 seconds max) and it spits out high quality printing or photocopies like mad. From what I can gather, the cartridge lasts from 1200-1500 sheets or normal printing, and is fairly inexpensive to replace. One of the best features is the email notification of usage, and status. Once a week (as I have it set up) it emails me with current toner levels, how many copies, fax records, etc.
