Comment:
This MFC does specifically what I require it for and it does it incredibly nicely at a quite reasonably priced value. It's rapidly and quiet. Worked suitable out of the box, and is simple to use. The document feeder tends to make multi-web page copying a breeze. The print excellent is excellent. As noted by some other reviewers, the building does appear a small flimsy, but if you are not as well aggressive with it I suspect it will last a lengthy time. I have been working with an HP printer/copier/fax laser machine for about 10 years. It has worked properly but it expense about 5 times as considerably as this one and this 1 has superior functionality, i.e. document feeder and flatbed scanner. I enjoy it!!

Fantastic price, quickly shipping The unit failed as soon as I unpacked it. The manual was useless; when I looked up the error message it stated there was a mechanical difficulty...no kidding! I've purchased other Brother printer products that worked fine, I was disappointed to find out this one particular didn't operate as it need to.

We run about 3 of just these models at 1 workplace alone, not counting the other brother models we run at all of our buyers. They run excellent, toner is low-cost. Computer software with all brothers i've ever deployed has been simple to install and incredibly user friendly from scanning to faxing to printing. Occasionally we change the drum and the printer nevertheless thinks the rum needs to be changed. That's a no biggie.

Ideal all round design and ergonomics I've seen. Appreciate the paper drawer. Loading paper is rapidly and easy. No cassettes and dust covers to mess with. The manual feed slot is good and the door acts as a guide. The back panel not only allows access for paper jams, but when open enables a straight path for manual feed--good for printing business cards an envelopes. As opposed to some models exactly where the ADF appears like it's launching into space, the Brother is nice and compact--at only 12" high I can keep this on a shelf and have space to open the scanner lid.Tons of printing capabilities. Will print a number of pages on a single sheet--for me that tends to make up for the lack of duplex printing. And the print high quality (even on the low setting with lowered toner) is very sharp, even when print size is lowered.Copying and faxing is a snap. Front panel functions are straightforward to use. LCD show is legible. Others have complained of slow scanning, but it's fine working with the twain driver in a paint plan Lack of duplex printing. It's just barely a con, since almost none of the competitors have it either. I only list it in the hopes that a Brother rep will study this and push them to include it in reduced models in the future. Incidentally I attempted the older 7420 first and even though it was quite very good, the use of the rear panel door for straight path was not documented in the manual, and I didn't realize it had that capability till I returned it and got this one particular. Also the 7440 is a small quieter, slightly faster, and I like that the front manual feed door acts as a guide for loading. Also it has better scan resolution, and the scanning cover is cushioned which I consider holds down documents far better. My only wish list would be duplex printing and an 11 x 17 scanning bed. Barring that, although, I assume this is the perfect machine for the home or smaller office.

Comment:
Prints rapidly and you can get a lot of pages per toner cartridge compared to ink. The printer was very effortless to install and has been considerably much better than any ink jet printer we have ever applied. Typical printing has not however made a paper jam. Right after a couple of weeks the auto feeder copy mechanism was leaving black verticle lines on the copies for some unknown cause. It stopped on its own and now has began again. Printing envelopes is a real hassle as you have to feed them a single at a time and there is a paper jam just about every 3 envelopes without having fail. I would still purchase this item once again even with the problems.

Comment:
Good high quality in both printing and scanning. Support for Windows, Mac, and Linux for each the printing and scanning. Add in the reality that it functions as either a USB or network printer and it's challenging to beat this unit for the cost. The Linux drivers are extremely painful to install, and Brother surely hasn't done as much as they could to alleviate this. They supply packages for i386 and amd64 (only) but then demand the user to override default package settings to install them, and to copy and paste printer definition data into files soon after set up! The data is on their website, so why didn't they just add it to the package to commence with? The OSX drivers have been somewhat painful to set up as effectively and necessary rebooting, even for installing a network printer. Don't acquire this if you want a simple plug-and-play practical experience. If you are willing to put in an hour of swearing to set it up, it will serve you very effectively -- the print and scan top quality is wonderful. But the setup process is extremely poor.

Outstanding, crisp print high qualityExcellent software program. Custom scan profiles are neat.Networking (wired) functions completely.Scans are good top quality.Sheet feeder for scanner is good.Dead effortless to set up. The only undesirable point is that the plastic is clearly not of the highest excellent. If you're not going to be moving it about all the time, it's probably OK. But it doesn't *feel* like a really top quality solution but I can assure you that it is. Anyone who buys a colour inkjet all-in-1 printer needs their head examining. Printing your personal photos tends to make definitely no financial or logistical sense. (Unless you like your treasured memories to fade soon after a few years.) Get a laser and at least you'll get decent print good quality. And this factor scans in colour. Neat product.

Simple setup, rapidly wake-up, pc-fax, scan-to-pc, not noisy, price is fantastic. It has no wireless card, but not a big deal considering that I was in a position to connect a 4 year old wireless bridge, then it worked like a charm. I like its appear and feel, straightforward to configure, lots of capabilities. Hassle-free to scan/print. Every thing is of high good quality.

Prints rapidly, clean, and crisp. doesn't take up a lot of desktop space. Do not plug this into a backup power provide, when it powers on it draws so substantially anything else goes out. In fact it causes lights to dim slightly when pluged into just a wall outlet. Being a workplace top quality item I did anticipate it to operate like a high top quality industrial item. Just want to put it on a circuit with lower draw from other things. Makes use of more than 1000 watts of energy at its peak, that is near 9 amps of draw.

- Performs with Windows 7 x64, which includes scanning and faxing which some other MFC's don't help on 64 bit- Compact, little size- Print, Copy, Scan, Fax- Laser- Networkable- Comparatively affordable toner- Bundled with Paperport 11SE- Can also Scan to FTP or Email- Automatic Document Feeder - Audible fan when not in sleep mode (so a tad noisy for a couple of minutes soon after printing)- The output tray is a bit cramped- Comes bundled with a starter cartridge, which has less toner than a regular retailer purchased one would have. Except to obtain a replacement cartridge somewhat quickly. Overall a quite good hunting machine, for a great cost.

Low cost workplace printer, functions great on typical paper. Saved a ton of funds on ink. Surely the way to go if you are tired of throwing money down the drawn with ink jets. Not colour, knew it when I bought it but it still would have been good. The purpose I did not give it 5 eggs although was due to the dilemma we had while trying to print checks or on thicker paper. It would jam every five checks, at times it would take a stack of 10 checks at a time and ruin them all. I dont know if you will use this for a firm printer but if you do. DO NOT rely on it to be trustworthy when it comes to non-normal printing paper.

This item does not take a lot of space. It functions well. I use the single sheet front feed a lot. Never ever had a jam. The scanner operates effectively, as does the copy function. Seemed like a lot of software to install. I put it all in, took a appear and then removed most of it. I'm a satisfied camper. I required a printer to replace an old one that died suddenly. I was going to just get a laser printer, but then right after hunting at my equally old scanner, replacing all with a single box seemed sensible.I haven't utilized the fax or the network capabilities. Considering that these functions aren't employed, I leave the machine switched off, till I will need it. That is an average of as soon as a day.

Excellent Printer, love the scanning software program I HATE Brother Buyer Service, I have had a number of difficulties with this printer saying a toner cartridge is empty long prior to it is empty. Customer service at Brother rather than do something to help me would rather place me on hold for 30 min, walk me by way of a bunch of useless actions, and then inform me to purchase 贘 worth of replacement drum and toner. Thank you Brother for wasting my time.

Works fairly promptly & quietly. Print high quality is exceptional for workplace use. Scan time is faster than I expected. It always defaults to fax mode when feeding in a web page. I would choose that it stays with whatever is utilised last, but this is a personal preference. Don't know about fax capabilities as we only use it as a printer/scanner/copier. I assume it operates effectively.

Prints properly, excellent on ink, decent develop, low-cost ink. It ought to not be employed in a enterprise setting, this printer will NOT print a lot more than three checks at a time with no consuming a few. I purchased this hoping to replace an old dot matrix printer but have to resort back to it since this printer is incapable of not destroying checks.

This printer replaces a Brother MFC 8600 multi-function printer I've had for 8 years. It was bullet proof until we had a power spike and in-spite of being on a surge protector the power came back on at half power and the printer didn't like it. I unpacked the 7440, followed the directions and had it working in less than an hour on both my Mac and Pc. It works excellent and is effortless to use. This printer is clearly not as well built as what I replaced, so as far as lasting one more 8 years I'm doubtful. At the very same time at this cost if I get four years out of it I'll be content.
