CORSAIR Flash Voyager 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive

I liked the very first 1 so effectively, I got one more. Depends on what you require to back up determines the size. If you want to tranfer files from one particular pc to the subsequent, then the 16gig need to be applied, I have identified 8gigs was just about adequate in most situations. To round out anybody's drive inventory, it should include at least an 8 and 16gig. 32gig for toting issues like win7 or other big programs for downloading onto other rigs with the license to do so. I have two of these now and they work quite effectively. You can effortlessly get a corsair 4gig model, but for a couple dollars much more you get twice the space over that lil factor. Comes formatted with FAT32, but effortlessly formats to NTFS. Heck, use it as a ready boost drive when you don't will need it for something else. Just turn off paging files and let this in ready boost do the perform substantially more quickly. Win7 loves growing the size of paging files on tricky drives unless you inform it to stop it for cryn out loud. Doesn't make me breakfast, but I read the spec's and it didn't state it would, so I knew what I was finding into when I purchased this once again. I only purchase a couple brand name thumb drives and this brand is a single of them. I have been burned on other drives and when I find a couple brands that work I stick with them. This performs! I have some 16gig drives but I filled them up with important stuff so I necessary a different tiny drive to use for raid software program and drivers and what not, items that can be deleted frequently and huge enuff to tote some programs for cleaning up machines with virus's and so on. Don't just trust these with essential "cannot shed" files, generally backup to other media too.

- Huge capacity- Quite tough — like the rubber casing. - Works properly with any OS. - bulky: requires up space on adjacent USB ports. - Efficiency is not consistent, and can be have slow transfer rates a lot of the time. There are instances where I'm transferring around 30MB/s while other occasions i'm acquiring around 800Kb/s. I would suggest this drive to others. I just hate that the transfer speed is not steady, and general has a decent transfer rate. My average so far has been around 18MB/s.

The speed of reading and writing files into it was OK. the material feels soft like gel. the inside part of this jump drive constantly comes out. i have been employing this one particular for 7 months, it does not function at all now. It appears there is one thing incorrect with the port portion, producing the laptop not read this device. My one more jump drive from Diesel is working perfectly after two years. I almost certainly will buy goods from Diesel as an alternative of CORSAIR in the future. Manufacturer Response:We are sorry you had an challenge with the housing on your drive. We'll replace it if you like. Also, if you require a a lot more sturdy drive that is subjected to difficult usage, you may possibly want to look into our Survivor line.External Link(s): Corsair RMA Link|

Rubber "armor"Corsair brand. From factor is also big IMHO.Rubber armor slips correct off the guts of the drive when removing the drive from the usb port.Lackluster transfer speeds: three.05 MB/s create and 16.17 MB/s read. I just push the rubber "sleeve" back onto the guts of the drive anytime it slips off (which is relatively generally). I must rubber cement it back on sometime.....

The drive has currently survived a trip through the wash. I place the Ubuntu 10.ten ISO on it, and installation on a number of computer systems felt speedy. But that's a subjective review, and not truly useful, so I ran it via Xbench, and got the following final resultsɈK blocks: Read: Sequential: 4.42 MB/sec Random:   3.65 MB/sec Write: Sequential: 8.42 MB/sec Random: .01 MB/sec265K blocks: Read: Sequential: 27.59 MB/sec Random: 28.83 MB/sec Write: Sequential: 7.26 MB/sec Random: .55 MB/sec The cap cannot be secured to the drive, it's just a rubber sleeve. Uncomplicated to loose. The keychain loop appears like it might be a small too weak. The rubber is grippy and sticky, which is a good really feel if you're carrying it, but final results in the accumulation of lots of pocket lint on the drive.

I have had this flash drive for more than two years and it nevertheless functions just fine. It's even been by way of the washing machine twice and the dryer when and it nevertheless functions. I also have a 4 GB Voyager that is four years old and still no problems with it either. Not sure why some are obtaining concerns, I haven't had any. Ok, this drive has a removable cap. If you are too lame to preserve up with the cap buy a youngster proof a single with an attached cap.

I don't know. It worked.... for awhile. Was pretty inexpensive. Was pretty darned slow for transfer speeds. Ought to final a lot more than a year. I literally only applied this thing eight - 10 occasions total in 11 months I had it. I am in course of action of RMA'ing this item. I truly have some data (mainly family members photographs) that I'd like to get off it. They (Corsair) currently agreed to replacing it. I asked them if I could attempt a few issues (taking a appear inside) to extract the data just before returning it and they told me no. Then I asked if I could have it returned with the new one particular right after they inspected it. Mentioned no to that too. Not sure what I expected, but appears type of insensitive for them to deny each and every choice I attempt .. to get the photos. I mean it's their item that failed. Oh well.

My memory stick has gone by the washer and dryer three Instances AND IT Nevertheless Functions. I have carried it day-to-day for more than nicely more than a year and it is the most durable trustworthy flash drive I have ever used. Can be high priced, but Newegg has great sales and rebate offers. Worth the extra income for the reliability. Individuals tend to wait too long to backup data on flash drives and lose significant files to accidents (like leaving it in the clothes becoming washed).

It is what it is and operates. Rebate system. Sent in the rebate type as they asked. Letter back to me saying they didn't have the correct UPC, it's the only UPC in the package. Not Cool! When you log on to the rebate web page there are two different types that can be utilized to get your rebate, they are extremely equivalent merchandise and no way to identify the exact model. I may possibly have used the incorrect form but this is not my fault. I don't know if ten bucks is worth future enterprise but I won't get another Corsair product with a rebate. I had very good luck with their rebate plan til now, when is all it requires with me. I'll nevertheless acquire their goods I just won't buy one with a rebate. Gerald

The Corsair 8Gb flash drive operates specifically as promised, performs effectively, and holds a lot of information. I trust it to hold my harddrive encryption keys, but with this product, there is no risk. Mine even came with a nice neck dongle to maintain track of it with. Just a handful of, at times Windows refuses to use the drive for ReadyBoost, claiming it doesn't meet the specks, but I am certain I have employed it for readyboost prior to, so if you intend to use RB, don't retailer something else on it. Also, the shape and size of the casing can be a detriment when you have to squeeze it in the back of a Pc with other USB devices, and it wont fit in the Xbox 360 USB controller. remarkable item, I might have to get one more one particular in the future.

This is definitely the most tough flash drive I have ever owned. It's made of a incredibly high top quality rubber than seems to be extremely tear resistant. Soon after obtaining each and every other drive I tried break off my crucial chain I decided that it was worth a tiny much more cash to get anything that would final. Though you can uncover a more affordable drive, I'm not positive you can get this top quality from any other business. Create speeds appear a tiny slow. There are undoubtedly quicker drives out there but none as rugged as this 1.

low expense, holds practically 2 DVD's worth of data This device has failed multiple occasions when moving files to or from device. At first I believed is was a undesirable usb hub, but it has failed on other computers also, and it is the only usb storage device that gave problems with the usb hub. Previously, I could reformat the device and use it, though this clearly lost the information stored on the drive. The last time it failed, the laptop would recognize the device and assign a drive letter, but would not format the device. Proper click, properties indicated MB size. Information recovery application could not uncover any files or sectors. I purchased this device in July 2008, so it is now about 1 and a half years old. The most abuse the device has skilled is placement in my pocket. Though there is a ten year warranty on this device, I won't trust storing my information on a replacement drive. In addition, there is the time I have to waste receiving a replacement drive, and I'll in all probability have to spend shipping also. Manufacturer Response:We are sorry you had an issue with your Voyager. Please RMA it and we will replace it.External Link(s): Corsair Hyperlinks Web page|

-Verv Shock resistant construction-Loop is substantial adequate to attach drive to crucial-chain-Huge Capacity, substantial sufficient to retailer a DVD-ROM-Replacement caps obtainable on corsair internet site -Flash module is Glued into rubber housing, slides out often, second time i've RMAed my drive for repair -Cap gets lost quickly, but then yet again with corsair providing totally free replacement caps for life i'm not as well worried. I'm an IT guy so needless to say i've tons of flash drives, quite a few of which broke off of my crucial-chain inside one week.I got this flash drive through my tech schooling about a year ago, 2 RMAs for repair and four replacement caps later, it is still reading and writing as rapid as the day I got it.I just ordered the 16GB "survivor" today, and would have purchased the survivor rather of this one if the size was readily available at the time of purchase.Corsair is the finest brand of USB drive i've had so far, i've tried quite a few other brands none look to meet the quality of this drive, now if corsair can just solve tis little design flaw of the way the flash module secures into the situation it would be best.

Rapidly) clocked at 20 Mb/second on a standard multi-file transfer in Windows. Inexpensive) good price for 8 Mb. Not excessively big) It's only about 150% the size of my 2gig drive. It's about two" x .75" (with cap on)P.S: Even in a USB 1. slot it got 8 mB/second, fairly good! I don't like how it looks. Oh effectively, I'll live. The cap is rubber, (well the complete factor it) which feels kinda weird. it's got "www.corsairmemory.com" on the backside. Like an ad for itself? Why'd they do that?

It functions Excellent. Corsair tends to make the ideal flash drives that I have employed. They have the best warranty, and they are well constructed. Preserve an eye on the cap. Good deal after rebate. This is the very first Corsair drive that I have bought that doesn't include a lanyard (-1 egg). It's tough to think that they decided to not involve it, when the added price is minimal, and their drives are premium-priced in comparison to there competitors. I could have got a Kingston 16Gb for a couple of dollars a lot more. Great newegg service as is the norm. They are the greatest in the biz in choice and service, and also item critiques, which often help in the final analysis.
