Coolmax IDE to SATA Multifunction Converter

I used this to collect data ona failing hard drive. It worked as it said it would. I didnt have any problem with it falling apart as others have mentioned.

This really does not take the place of an external hard drive for back ups. But it works great. I haven't tried the OTB one touch back up. But everything I have tried has worked great. I have used PATA SATA and laptop IDE drives and never had a problem.

This is the best usb to ide-sata adapter on the market. It has the best USB ATA Driver interface which makes it extremely compatible. Although the quality of the casing is a bit poor - one drop and it will come apart (But it can easily be put back together) I recommend taping the casing together. I have gone through 3 of these in 3 years because I use them everyday. These devices aren't made for daily tech use - but its still the best one out there!

The product worked as described, and I love the on and off switch, but as others have stated, the case splits into two pieces. Otherwise product is as was described.

Initially the wrong product was sent to me and it did not work. When calling TD customer service, rep wanted to CHARGE my credit card AGAIN until I sent the DEFECTIVE device back. 1) Why would I want to KEEP something that does not work, then the RUDE REP started arguing with me ( A PAYING CUSTOMER) ON THE PHONE!! TD sent me the correct device and it is not detecting 50% of the hard drives that I am repairing. My company uses TD 90% of the time, but that will change ASAP!!

I too had a problem with the plastic case separating apart. I had to tape it together. Otherwise, it worked as expected for the price.

When I opened the package, the case split in half. I was able to tape the case together and get all parts working with no problem. It worked fine with a standard size IDE drive, but there was no matching connection for the drive from my laptop. I don't know if the drive is non-standard or the adapter just doesn't handle that type drive.

Unbelievable price point for what it does. Every Pro to Amateur PC tech needs one in their tool box. Worked great on PC, and Mac Drives. It did not recognize Linux Drives on a PC though... That would have been an added bonus, to adjust partitions from a PC. All in all GREAT product highly recommend it.

The only problem is that on my system I have to unplug it to turn on my system. It sends a power feedback through my system making the power switch unable to completely reset. But otherwise the functionality and capabilities make it a real boon to my systems caps...

very nice product...this the job perfectly...i even installed windows 7 RC on my NetBook using my CD ROM from my desktop computer...and didnt have to spend some more money getting a external CD ROM...This is worth the moeny people this is not $h!T....

Extremely good product. We have worn out one of these, so we didn't hestitate to purchase several of theses. Remember we go through a lot of hard drives. For home use, it will last a long time. Good product for the value

This converter not only allowed me to transfer all of my files from my laptop HDD, but it did it on a HDD the would not boot. This saved me tons of money. I was able to get a new HDD for the laptop and this device for less than what one of the big box stores charge to recover your data, well over $100. Money well spent. It also allows you to connect HDD to make backups etc... Great Product.

I've read about lots of people having issues with these types of cables, so I stuck with coolmax because I've used them in the past and never had any problems. I bought 2 and both work great. I didn't know it when I bought it but these actually have some lights to help you troubleshoot what's wrong if the drive isn't working. I thought that was a nice feature. I never use the "backup button", as I only use these to get at drives that wont boot in a machine for whatever reason. I prefer these over the "base" type because they are much more portable. I keep 1 in my laptop bag at all times.

Good Product! You can attach pata, sata and laptop hard drive (2 1/2 pata). Comes with a power brick to molex for power - no need to go into the computer for power now. Also comes with a 2nd usb connection for power too. Worked awsome for me. great for any troubleshooting.

I have been searching for something like this for a while. I do a lot of system building and data backups for systems that have either crashed or become infested with malware. This is exactly what I need to get the job done. It has a good strong build, it connects to every type of drive i have needed it for and it gets the job done.
