Pros:Awesome sound! The best out there.

I used to own the Audigy 2 card and on a 5.1 system the Audigy and the X-Fi sounded alike. But then I put on headphones and let the X-Fi do its surround sound thing and wow! Blew me away.

Pros:- Crisp sound- HUGE difference between onboard and this card- Highly recommended
Comment:
I've never owned a sound card before but I can tell you the difference between onboard and this sound card is HUGE! I can't believe I've gone all this time without using one. It's made for gaming but also sounds great for music. Bought it on sale for $57.88 ($87.88 - $30 rebate, which I received 3 days ago and is already in the bank =D)

Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer 24BIT Sound Card 7.1 PCI Retail Box Bilingual
Cons:-No included XRAM though it seems to be unused anyhow.

Pros:-Price for what you get.-Latest EAX and improvements for the newest of games.-Not very large in size at all and should fit in all cases.
Comment:
If you want a good bang for the buck sound card and don't require things like a front panel box, remote, XRAM etc that is found on the higher end cards, than this card is for you. Contains the 3D and crystalizer options of the higher models and is fully compatible with the latest EAX for the best in gaming. Though I do enjoy using my Fatality variant more this was a great choice for a budget system I put together for a friend.

Cons:Software package it comes with is huge, with alot of unnecesary stuff. Lack of connections.

Pros:Very crisp sound. Has many options . Smaller than I expected, which I like. Works great. Front panel connectivity.
Comment:
This is my first sound card and it seems to work great. I`ve only used it a little and it sound WAY better than the onboard on my A8N32-SLI Deluxe board. Wish it had more connections on it . Sounds awsome paired with my 5.1 headphones. I would buy it again.

Wow! I upgraded from a Soundblaster Audigy Gamer sound card I got in 2001. This thing is small and leves more room for airflow. The sound quality is unreal! I noticed a difference right away. Sound is so much more crisp and clear. When gaming and watching movies I hear sounds I could never hear before. I can hear explosions far far away I could not hear before. I hear people creaping up on me long before its to late in FPS games. When I use headphones wow!!. I could be hear all day explaining the new sounds I hear!! Get this card especaily when its on sale. You will not be dissapointed. This review was modfied by poster @ 10-05-07 08:40 PM

Cons:Had trouble installing onto vista.

Pros:Great sound quality, a few more frames per second (10-15), stunning for gaming.
Comment:
All in all, a really great sound card, good performance for the price, and great for games/movies/audio. The only detriment I had was installing the drivers onto vista was a pain in the butt, so 4/5.

Pros:- Superb sound quality for both gaming and entertainment.- The X-Fi Crystalizer is amazing, it really makes audio sound amazing.

Comment:
My first dedicated sound card, I'm glad i got it cause I can now play PSU with working sound and EAX is amazing for games like COD or Thief, etc. I was just expecting more from it I guess, it's a great card but if your going from onboard to a card, it does take some getting use to I suppose. I would definatly get one, it's worth it.

Pros:smallexcellent soundgood price
Comment:
This card is a good card for the price. I like good sound and I find this card reproduces sound very well without any loss in quality. I watch movies, play games, and listen to music and the sounds are great. It being fairly smaller then the other sound cards allows better air circulation in the case. Vista drivers work well without any problems. Highly Reccomended

i got this for less than 100$ for replacing my "old" xfi xtreme music card which was giving me trouble under windoes vista. im not sure if its a compatibility or hardware problem. i installed the xtreme gamer and all my problems were resolved. i got the vista drivers on internet and the sound is as good as my old card and i would say even better and has almost all the same great features for half the price i paid my old card which had gold plated connectors but this one doesnt have it but thats not a big thing for me. i would recommend it to anyone. this has been a great card so far. i can't believe the sounds that i have been missing in my movies. even my live in the s754 system doesn't come close. just the little things, glass tinkling when it hits the ground, small background noises, just the small sounds that make me go: what the hen# was that... i am still running my old logitech 2.1's (5+ yrs), as the e5300 speakers are on back order, and the sound quality still amazes me.the games that i am playing definitely sound noticeably better as well. (nfs most wanted-carbon, quake 4, gtr2) the frame rates are way up too. no more lags when multiple sound objects happen.my only real complaint is that there is no equalizer in vista x32. it would be nice to lower the bass to keep the room mates at bay. lol i will be triple booting xp and vista x64 later this week, so i will have the equalizer back in at least one o/s.

Cons:No X-RAM on this version of the card.

Pros:Great sound for gaming and movies.
Comment:
This is my first real Sound Card and what a difference! If you have a good sound system then I say it's a must. I personnaly have good headphones and it already shows a difference. The sound is crisp and clean. Huge difference in gaming and movies. I coudn't be happier with this product. I've seen people say that this card will slow down your performance in gaming. I have a Quad-Core CPU and with one of these you don't see any performance drop. But If you're a hardcore gamer OR if you're gaming on less than a Quad-Core CPU, then I would recommend spending more and get the "Fatality" version of the card as it includes 64mg X-RAM and won't slow down performance.

Cons:Drivers

Pros:Great sound
Comment:
A noticeable improvement over my Audigy 2 ZS. I use my computer for games, music, and movies and everything sounds much better.Installing drivers and software was hell though. I went a through the usual Uninstall old driver > Reboot to safemode > Driver Cleaner > Restart > Install new driver, etc. more than a few times. Either the audio console stopped working, or there was only SPDIF working which I don't use(With no sound from speakers), or the speakers worked but surround sound didn't, or a game would get some sound error, etc. etc. I was getting pissed. I looked up forums to see if anyone else had problems with Creative's drivers and software, and I guess a lot of people do.... And magically, everything suddenly pulled together and started working perfectly for no reason :P Hopefully I don't have to update anything for a while for fear of something getting screwed up again ha. I can't wait until their drivers don't suck. Oother than that, I love this sound card.

Cons:No game port for connecting older gaming hardware.

Pros:Fantastic sound.
Comment:
I use the sound capabilities on my computer primarily to listen to music (i.e. I don't use this card much for playing games). This card was a giant leap forward in sound quality on the same PC (Dell Dimension E520), speakers (Altec Lansing 621), Windows XP / Windows Vista, as compared to: onboard Sigmatel sound, and the Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card. Overall tonal quality, highs, lows, and minute details were noticeably better reproduced using all of the other same hardware in my computer set-up. Music from MP3's and CDs sounded much better. I don't care much for the EAX environment effects when listening to the music, but the perhaps it is the Crystalizer that is making the difference here. I would certainly recommend it and/or buy this again. One disadvantage: it is an "extremegamer" card and yet, there is no game port included. Strange. So much for playing my old games with a joystick / gamepad anymore :)

Cons:- installing driver/software was a pain. I had to resort to cleaning the computer from any trace of creative drivers. Wasted 2-3 hours while setting up the card- no linux support

Pros:- great piece of hardware- wonderful sound through software enhancement once you get it working
Comment:
This is really a great piece of hardware but software needs a lot of work at least when it comes to installation. It took me quite a while to get it working and I wasted 2-3 hours stuck in make a change-try and install-see that machine has blocked-hard reboot-go to safe mode and remove driver cycle. Terrible. Finally I removed any trace of Creative drivers using cleaner software, I turned off the onboard sound card, downloaded the latest drivers (why can't I download the software that came with the cd as well?) and managed to get the card working. It's a great card, wonderful sound and software enhancements are great. Good upgrade from Audigy 2 ZS.I recommend the card but beware the installation difficulties. Oh, yeah, lack of Linux support blows. This review was modfied by poster @ 05-28-07 03:08 PM

Cons:I believe they could make a little effort (provided Creative is a profitable company) to develop Linux drivers: or at least give some informations for developers to do so.

Pros:Sound! (clean, dynamic, colored, textured), ASIO drivers available, lots of features, complete suite of software that did not give me a single problem.
Comment:
My last 'real' sound card was an Audigy Platinum. This card IS a real upgrade from Audigy. I paired it with 'Gigaworks T20' and it is unbelievable now much 3-dimensional my simple 'mp3 tracks' can sound! I can clearly hear all the instruments, some nuances that I had never heard before (such as a singer taking his breath before the next sentence), that kind of things. The card has ASIO drivers and 'music recording' mode. I guess it is also good for gaming too. I give 5 for the card, but overall 4 because I also use Linux (and there might never be support for Linux). Not even basic functionality.

Cons:None so far.

Pros:Much better than on board audio. Easy install and usability.
Comment:
This is the first sound card I have ever bought, and what a difference from on board. I have an ASUS P5WDH board and I was not sure it would make much diference - but Wow! The sound is so much crisper when gaming or listening to music. Install was a snap with no issues. I can't say how good it is compared to the Fatal1ty or other models as this is my fist soundcard, but if your looking for one at this pricepoint, I certainly would recomend it.
