D-LINK DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router QoS
Cons:Does not seem to like N 5ghz channel with my wife's HP laptop. Keeps losing connection.

Pros:Easy to setup and configure.
Comment:
This router is very nice. It was easy to setup and the software setup is very easy. There are tons of configuration setting to play with or you can stick with the wizard setup, depends on the complexity of you home network. I have not been able to get the 5Ghz band N channel to work properly with my wife's laptop so I just switched it to the other channel.

perfect for my application...

First - you must do a firmware upgrade. I initially had problems with the router but after the upgrade, the issue was corrected. I broadcast in 2.4 for regular network connectivitiy and use the 5GHz broadcast to stream Pandora Radio and Netflix to my A/V system. I can stream in both frequencies, and play CD4 using the LAN connection without any problems.

Great product

Installation was a breeze. Everything has worked as advertised. I especially like the "visitors" feature that provides two channels; one for me, which gives access to my whole home network, and one for visitors, which gives only internet access.

D-LINK DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router QoS
Cons:* Current firmware suffers from lock up* Poor 5Ghz band range

Pros:* Speed (Draft N)* Looks* USB can finally be used to share devices
Comment:
I am a certified geek and was quite excited to jump onto the 5Ghz band wagon. The first thing I noticed was the range isn't very good on the 5Ghz band. I do not have a large house at all. The 2.4Ghz band comes through loud and clear. The 5Ghz band on this router is rather weak. When I go up a floor the reception immediately drops to 3 bars. Transfer speeds suffer accordingly. The router has been locking up about every 2 days. A quick google search reveals it's an issue with the current firmware. If the next firmware release fixes the issue (which it likely will) then I am happy. If not then back to ncix it goes.

D-LINK DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router QoS
Cons:None so far...

Pros:Set and forget...no resets required!
Comment:
I bought this router because of the true dual band operation. I have a DLink Green switch attached to it and it operates with a DAP-1522. N-wireless works great with the DAP-1522...the DAP-1522 is attached to an Xbox in another part of the house which allows me to use a Mediacenter computer as a PVR....no pricey Rogers box for me. 4 wired computers, 1 home server, numerous wireless devices all working without any worries...happy, happy, happy!

Great Feature Set......OK preformance
Comment:
This thing has everything you want in a router and for a decent price. Just too bad the range is very limited compared to other models. Even my old G-band router that Verizon gave me had better range than this. Especially limited through walls and between floors. Shareport is useful but not perfect by any means, requires frequent attention to fix the hick-ups.

Cons:None so far

Pros:Great speed and reliability. 5Ghz.

This is a fantastic 5Ghz router. It is well worth the price. Combined with the dlink 5Ghz usb adapter i can finally stream HD 1080P movies to my HTPC. This was simply not possible with my Dir-655 and matching adapter. 5/5 stars!

D-LINK DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router QoS
Cons:-Only 2 anntenas-Ok 2.4ghz signal strength-Weak 5ghz signal strength

Pros:-Cheaper than other simultaneous dual band routers-Good performance for the price
Comment:
Basically this router was a pain to mess around to get the best performance and I would give it a 1 star but I didn't buy it online so this is the lowest I can give. After hours of searching through D-Link support forums and tried different settings I did not acheive 300mbps. With my imac and mbp I usually connect at 89mbps which is hardly any good for streaming or file transfering. But it was a different story with my sister's DV7, it will connect at 117mbps and 180mbps at full speed Still not coming close to the rated speed. Now that is just the minor problem I can live with. The worst problem is the internet would become so slow it won't even load google... I can't access the admin page to reboot the router. I don't mind physically rebooting the router once a while, but I was required to do that at least once every 12-48hrs This is quite annoying when you have everyone in your family asking you why there is no internet or why is the internet so slow? I had enough of this router today and went back to NCIX for exchange to a DIR655. I had easier time setting up the 655 than the 825, and the setting is almost identical and the best of all I get 300mbps on my macs. I will not buy 825 again, and if you must have simultaneous dual band then it's better to get the Airport Extreme from Apple it just so much better.

Comment:
Not sure why everyone seems to have problems with this router -- my experience has been none. I am using it mostly in a wired cat5e setup and I like having Gigabit on both the WAN & LAN side. I actually have a pair of these in a DMZ scenario where the inner router has the wireless disabled. Since the inner router is plug only, I can leave my NAS unsecured without worry. The router actually has a nice feature where you can get the same effect with only one device -- you can set the wireless up to only allow outbound access only -- nothing to your local ethernet vlan. Like the other reviewer, I was at first confused over the 10/100 settings, but I upgraded the fireware to 1.01 and it now gives all three options 10 through 1000. Unlike everybody else, I seem to get pretty good wireless coverage -- 130mbs about 100 feet away through walls. Gigabit ethernet is great performance on the hardwire, maybe the other reviews are using 100 mhz cat 5 or have a transmit wired incorrectly.

D-LINK DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router QoS
Cons:-Could have been smaller-Somewhat weak in it's signal

Pros:-Fair price-Cool features-FAST
Comment:
Great wireless N gigabit router for the price, less than most. It has some great features like printer sharing...Not too sure how to use that yet but it's nice to be able to use the USB and all. It has great speeds, I got the full 2MB/s on by high speed, very good for being wireless and receiving the signal in the basement. Great on N not too good on G, only got 1.1MB/s. Could be better and smaller but good overall.

D-LINK DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router QoS
Cons:none

Pros:Feature-rich, very reliable
Comment:
I have kept this router on 24/7 since I bought it and so far it has been very reliable. I don't really use this for gaming or media-streaming, so I can't comment on how well the dual band feature works. This router gets to use sharepoint with a firmware upgrade, I tried it with a usb hdd, but since it is not true NAS, it requires a connection utility to be installed on your pc, and there is no concurrent access. Still a neat feature to have

Comment:
The feature set looks great on paper, but unfortunately it does not perform. The wired connections were slow, and overall throughput to the internet was about 30% of my previous router. Had problems with a wireless (Dlink DWL-G520 card!) connecting to this router, frequent connection drops and the ''wireless restarting'' every few minutes and everytime it came under load. Their support was slow in responding. I finally gave up and returned it, don't waste your time.

I ordered the 655 by mistake and really meant to order this one for the dual bands, boy was I wrong. The 5 Ghz just doesn't work at all. I tried many different security settings and even in an open system there was no SSID signal. 2.5 ghz had speeds up to 300mbps but, refused to connect to other wireless devices, no matter what I tried. Will RMA and use the DIR 655.

D-LINK DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router QoS
Cons:White Only...

Pros:Dual Mode Simultaneously, USB port sharing, Stable, Easy to Setup and Secure, Gigabit LAN Ports, Stand to Mount On it's Side.
Comment:
Only a few minutes and I had this up and running in Dual Mode, both 2.4 and 5Ghz enable and 2 networks showed up available to connect to in my wireless networks..neat. At first I noticed that the 2.4 network was alot stronger in signal but oddly enough if you let the connection sit abit my USB adapter will slowly gain in strength to high levels on both 5G and 2.4 Gigahertz. It's almost like it's putting out the capacity when connection is active, could be power saving mode? I've tried the Shareport feature where I've plugged in a USB storage key and it works fast and stable...I can save and retrieve from data to it. The web interface was easy to get to know...I had everything secured, setup and locked in about 10 minutes. I really like my wired and wireless setup with this Combo..especially having all Gigabit on my LAN side! Excellent buy!

Comment:
I purchased this router and was sad to say that I had very bad upload and download speeds while connected via wired from a desktop. Here's the deal. I went into the advance networking and found that the only options were 10Mbs, 10/100Mbs and Auto 10/100Mbs. WHERE IS THE 10/100/1000Mbs? This is a gigabit router, so where is it. I returned this very quickly. I did call D-Link support and they TOLD me to return it and that they were confused as to why this could be. I did however purchase another one and it was the same way. If you purchased the router, please check these settings and if you do not have 10/100/1000Mbs options......call D-Link. They are probably going to do a silent recall on this.
