D-Link DGS-1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch
Cons:Plastic ConstructionDoesn't handle voltage variations well

Pros:It worksautosensing ports
Comment:
Purchased this switch for a small office network with a number of gigabit capable machines. As far as speeds go, the unit works as expected. Although, so does every other unmanaged gigabit switch. Where it has problems though is on a slight voltage drain. When our air conditioner comes on automatically, the switch seems to reset causing attached machines to lose connectivity for approx 10 seconds. Normally, I would fault the AC but the switch is connected to an UPS which will switch in at 106 volts. The UPS never switches in which suggests the low voltage is above 106v. You'd think it would have some tolerance.

D-Link DGS-1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch
Cons:none really

Pros:High speedEase of setup
Comment:
Great switch for the price. If you have computers with gigabit ports and tend to transfer a lot of data you really will be amazed at the difference between 100Mbit and 1000Mbit. Makes network storage just about as quick as local drives.

D-Link DGS-1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch
Cons:There is no management interface

Pros:Good price for what you are gettingEasy installationProvides rubber feet that can be removedProvides screws and inserts for mounting
Comment:
It is a nice little switch for the price and integrated quite nicely into my network, upgrading my backbone to gigabit. It came with the inserts as well as the screws for the purposes of mounting it, as well as rubber feet to help stabilize it. I would, if need be, definitely purchase another one of these switches; although I wouldn't use this as a primary switch on a larger network, it makes a great switch to run servers off of as a means of keeping your servers cable runs from the rest of the network, but still organized together This review was modfied by poster @ 03-30-07 01:59 AM

D-Link DGS-1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch
Cons:None

Pros:Works, Good Price
Comment:
Very satisfied with my purchase. This 8 port gigabit switch is now the backbone of my home network connecting numerous other switches and computers. Just so you're not confused; unmanaged simply means that there isn't an accessible firmware that you can configure...but its just a switch, what is there to manage? It works reliably. Recommended.

D-Link DGS-1008D 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch
Cons:Huge, I was expecting a normal sized 8 port switch, but no it was like 2 times the size.

Pros:Fast, damn fastNot a bad lookMountableBuilt in cable diagnostics
Comment:
I love having the bandwidth, it is like having a hard drive from another computer connected directly to yours. I was able to attain speeds as high as 48megs per second, but this is only because the pci bus is limited to that, if I had a gigabit card running in a server it would probablty get something like 75 to 100 megs per second. Non the less it beats good old 100 mb hands down.

I recomend this to some one with more then 5 computers, and loves to game!
