Very disappointed. Won’t run gigabit on a cat5e cable longer than about 5 feet. And what’s worse, is that it doesn’t try to clock down to 100mbs, it just fails and your gigabit device has no connection. I’ll have to dig my 10/100 back out of a box because it actually works. |

Says it can work in a mixed port speed environment, which it can, but itll run at the slowest ports speed. ie. if you have 2 computers at 100mbit and 2 at 1000mbit, the switch will limit all ports transfer speeds to 100mbit. Theres other gigbit switches out there that can work better with the mixed port speed environment, dont make the same mistake as me and buy this switch! |
Replaced a bad SMC switch. Up and running in 5 minutes. I have a mixed port-speed environment (1x100Mb,1x10Mb,3x1Gb) and the switch works as expected. A quick 15GB file transfer test between two computers via 1Gb connections reports an effective transfer rate of 300Mb/sec. Could be better but not bad!
