D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:Fan always runs.

Pros:Quiet, small, solid, reasonably fast.
Comment:
I am very impressed with this NAS device. It feels very solid and the installation and setup could not be any easier. I use one drive for backup and the other drive for file hosting to my computer and laptop. File access is reasonably fast and it has no problems streaming movies over the network. I like the feature that shuts down the hard drives after 5 minutes but I don't understand why the fan continues to run. Either way it is nearly silent so it is not a big deal.

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:says its gigabit, however i haven't been noticing that high in speeds. granted i have only tested with one machine, so it could just be the hard drives i am transferring from are slow

Pros:priceease of useLinux os allows for many plug ins and customizationperformance
Comment:
bought this a little while ago and i absolutely love it. it compliments my popcorn hour a110 unit, and they go hand in hand like they were built to be together.wireless streaming works well, wired samejust make sure you upgrade the firmware right away, and as far as the built in uPNP server, i have not had any issues with my PCH A110 unit or my 360

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:DO NOT Install drives immediately that have data on them because the drive does a automatic reformatting hence your data on the drive bye bye!

Pros:Lots of Options, easy to install drives, stays cool, fan is quiet, easy sync with network computers. Absolutely recommend.
Comment:
Great unit have one at home and one at a clients office (replaced their server sold to them for 10,000 with a 200$ nas unit lol wow was the client mad at the company who sold them the server). Also found issue with unit if setup on network some Win xp sp2 computers designate the drives with their own letters however when you plug in a plug in play device (flash drive) the os assigns the device the same drive letter as one of the nas drives hence you cannot "see" the plug and play device. solution has been to map the 2 nas drives "y" and "z" no conflicts after this

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:None yet!

Pros:Easy to set up, reliable (so far), flexible (http://wiki.dns323.info/)
Comment:
Works very well. Reasonably fast, tweakable, very easy to set up and get running. I'm using it much like a file server, which is great for accessing data, photos, video and email from any PC in the house. Really happy with this purchase, and have my parents set up with one of these as well.

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:nothing so far

Pros:very stable and fast
Comment:
it works really well with my system.love this productWorked as expected. Was limited by 100Mbps network (8.8 MB/sec so a 800MB file takes 90 seconds) with one or two different computers doing heavy sequential access.

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:Temperature inside the housing can get a little high. Shortly after boot up, it's at 44 degrees. Wish there were 4 bays rather than 2. A little slow to build Raid array after dumping 10 gigs of data on to the unit. The initial physical installing of the drives could have gone a bit smoother. See tips below.

Pros:Stable firmware 1.05 (& newly released by Dlink by the way), gigabit connection, relatively quiet. Solid metal construction.
Comment:
After setting the unit up, all went well. This NAS is running 2x500 WD harddrives in Raid 1. Logging in through an ip address through your LAN is easy and intuitive. Transfer rate from XP is wonderful and limited by the 100 mbit network. From Vista, it's pretty slow but I think that is a Vista issue and not a problem with the DNS-323.Fan is relatively quiet. You only notice it during boot up. When it's up and running, it's barely audible. Apparently, fan speed is temp controlled so that is a nice feature. If anyone does purchase this unit, be sure to release the drive lock levers at the rear of the unit before installing the harddrives for the first time. It is tight before you initially release the locking mechanism. Otherwise, you could damage the connectors trying to jam the drives in.By the way, Dlink fixed some bugs and just released the lateast firmware (1.05) so update your firmware before you format and dump any data onto your disks.

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:Not the fastest drive access

Pros:Heavy duty constructionEasy to install hard drivesEasy to set up
Comment:
I purchased this unit along with 2 500GB hard drives as a backup system for my 2 home computers. It was extremely easy to set up, the hard drives popped right in with no problems, and the bundled D-Link software set everything up for me. For the price ($139), I don`t think you can get an easier to use device.

Cons:none so far

Pros:Easy set up, quiet

Bought this to use as a central repository for various media. I managed to stream video files to a PS3 without too much difficulty. When I have time I'm going to look at the various hacks available for these units.I plan on adding one to our small network at work.

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:none

Pros:easy to install, easy to use, free up a computer for downloading, very reasonable price
Comment:
Had this for a few weeks and was wondering why I did not get it earlier. Putting this on a home network allows one to share all the files on multiple PCs. Also once you installed mldonkey properly it replaces a PC for BT/eDonkey downloading -- shall we say it's environmentally friendly as we saved some electricity. Have not had chance to explore FTP yet but that's another benefit (to share files with friends/families).

D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:Quality of product is average

Pros:-UPnP AV-RAID 1-relatively inexpensive
Comment:
It's great when it works but like other d-link products i've owned in the past, quality of the product is not great. Some of the problems i've experienced include:-having to regularly remap my drives-my RAID 1 config became corrupted, therefore requiring me to backup all of my data off of the nas and reformatting my drives for RAID 1 againOverall it's not terrible..but you get what you pay for.
