Size - Features - Alternatives - Value - DurabilityI am exceptionally pleased with this product. It came with superb, easy to read directions and was together within seconds. It is just significant enough on the inside to permit for an air gap above and beneath the drive to mitigate heat aggregation. The instructions need to have included a brief bit about how the drive could not be recognized by windows until it had been formatted by windows disk management. I was conscious of this before I purchased it so it wasn't a issue, on the other hand if I hadn't run across this problem prior, I would feel the device wasnt functioning adequately.eSATA does not provide power. This is a probelm with the technology not the enclosure. When making use of eSATA you Ought to attatch the USB power or it will not function. -=IMPORTANT FOR VISTA/ WINDOWS 7 USERS=-You Ought to go into the Manage Panel then Administrative tools then to Laptop Management and then click on Disk Management. From there you will see the new drive. Just right click and choose format and choose the defaults. Your drive will now show up and be ready to go! ALSOeSATA does not provide power. This is a probelm with the technology not the enclosure. When employing eSATA you Have to attatch the USB power or it will not function.

The USB cable is attached to the drive, so you can't loose it. The USB cable can be utilised to energy the drive when in eSATA mode (many drives lack this alternative)Simple to open casehigh quality all metal construction It's a bit tricky at initial, if you plus in USB it sees the drive then you plug in eSATA and it see's the drive again. A bit of fiddling is needed, but thats a small price to pay contemplating that most other drives need a devoted usb energy cable. This is one of the finest cases out there, I would like it additional if it was straightforward to open & close, but that would sacrifice some of the ruggedness.

Nicely produced.Little. usb 2. powered.Esata port transfers information faster than usb 2. but it has each in case you want both. I like it and would get it once again. It has a nice case, but it isn't fairly large enough for the drive, e sata cable and usb energy cable. 1 of the screws is a bit challenging to get to, but soon after exchanging drives the second of 3 time realized that you only have to remove the screws on the opposite end and take away the drive from there--Don't want to take out all 4 screws.

I've had two of these enclosures for more than a year, and just returned from a two week business trip in which the boot SSD on my notebook crashed. I restored from an image on the HDD in the Eagle to my "travel spare" HDD and RMA'd the SSD. Quick eSATA. Some users complain about the little screws securing the cap, but if you don't like the screws (or don't carry a jeweler's screwdriver kit), just use electrical tape around the joint among the body and cap.

Comment:
I've owned several of these external enclosures and this 1 is effortlessly the very best of them all. 1) No screws required: for this enclosure just make certain the L sockets on the SATA drive are oriented to the plugs inside the enclosure and slide the drive into the case then snap the finish cap on to secure it. Screws are supplied for a more permanent mount. 2) Built in USB two. cable: wraps around the edge of the enclosure and rests in a channel out of the way. Plug snaps into the enclosure to secure it. 3) eSATA when you require it: separate cords for eSATA and USB power supplied. Those remain attached to my pc at property. I just unplug and go. 4) Size: it's about as little as one of these enclosures can be made. five) Compatible: I do a lot of service calls on a lot of diverse make and model computers. This one has by no means failed to be recognized on any I've attempted. 6) Rugged: aluminum is extruded rather than folded with a difficult anodized finish. High impact ABS endcaps but... Built-in USB cable appears prone to shorting if you're not cautious with it. I loaned this to a client and when I got it back I had to resolder it. Not much metal-to-metal contact in between enclosure and drive -- I'm asking yourself if a slightly distinct style couldn't have afforded a little much more cooling prospective. I've never ever had a drive overheat and Intelligent sensors in the drive never ever report temperatures out of range but I can't assist but feel cooling couldn't be improved on with the great extruded aluminum case acting as a heatsink.

Lastly a 2.5" enclosure with ESATA that basically works. I have gone through 3 other enclosures whereby the ESATA connection on them either did not function at all or was unreliable. I also bought SIIG 39' cable and timed through ATTO transfer a rate of 88gb/s with my seagate 7200.4 drive. That is excellent. Also the USB works at 34mb/s. Again this is superb. Both these times are the fastest I have ever measured as compared to other enclosures. That shows that the controllers do not impede speed as they do with other enclosures. As a result I have purchased 6 of these babies for all my external clones and information storage purposes. At these ESATA speeds there is no cause for me to use the bulky an noisier 3.five" drives. Small Rubber feet would be nice. No difficulty I purchased it at office depot for two dollars and stuck them on myself.

Everything works perfectly. it assembled very easily and it is a really sturdy design with a very good top quality really feel. I have utilised each the eSATA and USB characteristics with no troubles. built in USB cable is convenient and works as power cable when employing eSATA. specs say that it will only take up to a 320GB difficult drive (i am utilizing a 250GB 5400 RPM Western Digital caviar blue) so i don't know if it will max out at this size or not. it is achievable that the reviewers who said that their eSATA didn't work don't understand that eSATA offers no power. the usb cable is nonetheless necessary for this reason.

Sleek, stylish, easy to install HD. Ultra portable. can manage a 7200rpm drive no difficulty. Nothing that I can see, it works exactly as I hoped it would. I suppose (as usual with enclosures) the LEDs are a small obnoxious. This is a huge "finally" moment in the world of HD enclosure design. Eagle managed to create in the USB cable in a way that adds really small to the overall size. Performing away with the standard awkward USB Y-cable and dumpy wallet case.It is a little a lot more high-priced than some other enclosures, but you get what you pay for, and I'm glad I spent a little more on something that suits my requirements far better.

This drive has a fantastic design. It makes it possible for you to energy it from USB even when employing eSata, but without having the risk of it registering as a USB drive and causing your computer to not function appropriately with the eSata. I have read that being a issue with quite a few other drives of this type. Also, the USB cable being built in is a incredibly handy feature. The HD light is really well designed. It is solid blue, unless the HD is active, then half is taken up by a red light that blinks to show activity. The aluminum body does a extremely excellent job at dissipating heat as properly. I fell the case is nicely produced, and am not afraid my drive will break in side of it. I feel far more comfy with this than I do other mini HD's. As awesome as this case is, there was a brief in the USB cable where it goes into the case. I noticed this as it randomly disconnected from my pc twice. I wiggled the cord, absolutely nothing. Then, I touched it correct exactly where it goes into the case, bingo, lost connection. As disappointing as this is I still really like the little case and hope that the new one newegg is sending me will not have any difficulties. I will repost with five eggs if the new one is fine. I referred to as Newegg consumer service and inside 5 minutes I was getting overnighted a new 1 and was told I could just throw the damaged one away. Newegg has not only the very best costs, but the greatest consumer service I have ever encountered.

Slim enclosure with USB cable attached. This enclosure did not work with my Asus M50VM, Vista Ultimate 64bit using the eSATA port. I bought it for this reason (eSATA). I called Newegg customer service and they shipped me overnight yet another model. This is w/o any doubt the Very best customer service ever!!! Thanks Danny.

EAGLE ET-CS2PESU2-BK Black External Enclosure with built-in USB cable
Cons: Not the most compact enclosure. LED only indicates power but not activity.

Pros: Built-in USB 2.0 cord. eSATA port + power-port. Comes with additional a USB Y-cable, a USB power cord, and an eSATA cable. It even includes extra screws.
Comment:
It was the best 2.5" SATA enclosure for my purposes. The case design is practical and elegant. It comes with a nice wrap-around USB cable and an eSATA port for convenience and versatility. The complete set of cables and the extra screws made this purchase extra satisfactory. The USB and SATA performances are on-par with the other generic enclosures. I'd prefer to have the LED indicator drive activity in addition to power, but that's a minor feature.

EAGLE ET-CS2PESU2-BK Black External Enclosure with built-in USB cable
Cons: Might not survive a fall from a desk. (But that goes for most hard drive cases)

Pros: esata, built in usb, fast set
Comment:
Really good drive enclosure. The built-in USB cord is really convenient but the fact that is has an eSata option for faster speeds was really the reason for buying. I had an hard drive left over from a dead laptop and the set up was under 5 minutes including the removal from the laptop. Over all it's easy to install and works great.

EAGLE ET-CS2PESU2-BK Black External Enclosure with built-in USB cable
Cons: Integrated USB cable is moulded at a right angle and may interfere with another neighboring port. Integrated cable and included eSATA cable are barely long enough to reach either side of my laptop as needed. requires a small screwdriver to assemble.

Pros: Slim, nice quality, works with single USB connection in my case. Integrated USB is nice. All cables included.
Comment:
Great product. Works with only one USB for me. Worked out of the box with no hassle. Nice and slim. Aluminum body feels nice. eSATA works well. All cables included. Worked with a 500GB drive for me. It feels sturdy, but I wouldn't want to drop  it as there is no shock protection for the HD.It is the best enclosure I have found. Certainly better than the Acomdata Samurai which started to fall apart after only a week of very light use.

I've had no problems with it. eSATA and USB both work as expected. No problems putting a harddrive in it, or copying over 110GB of files to it. The size and built in USB cable make it nice to take over to friends places, while the eSATA port is great for large file transfers.

EAGLE ET-CS2PESU2-BK Black External Enclosure with built-in USB cable
Cons:Built in USB cable can be a bit short for someLong

Pros:Built in USB cableAluminum enclosureUSB and eSATA capableDurableThin
Comment:
This has got to be one of the thinnest enclosures out there. The only problem with this is that it is also fairly long. It wasn't a big problem for me though. I love that it's built out of aluminum and it does feel fairly sturdy. However, the aluminum is painted black and as a result, it feels like the paint can easily be scratched off over time. Oh, and they used like textured paint to give the enclosure some grip. I love the built in USB cable which is why I bought this. The tool less enclosure made by EagleTech did intrigue me, but I felt like this was probably a better buy overall. The USB cable can be a bit short for some and EagleTech did not include an extension cable. The one annoying thing about the built in cable is that on mine, you have to turn the cable over every time in order for it to fit in the USB port. It's hard to explain, but you will know what I mean if you buy this and have the same problem. I'm not sure if it's a defect or not.I haven't had a chance to try eSATA, but USB worked fine. I'm not one of those people that are too picky with the transfer rates as long as it's not extremely slow. All external devices tend to work at a similar speed. There just isn't much of a point in doing a performance benchmark on these things.

EAGLE ET-CS2PESU2-BK Black External Enclosure with built-in USB cable
Cons:- eSATA does not work (I bought it for this)- USB transfers slower than other enclosures (getting 14 MB/s writes)

Pros:- built-in USB cable (no cable to carry around)- black case looks good (not great because matte)- metal case, so it will keep things cool- includes eSATA cable (too short though)
Comment:
If you want a fast 2.5" enclosure, do not buy this. eSATA did not work and USB transfer rates were slower than others. I was using 7200 RPM drive. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-19-09 08:49 AM
