Connects and stays connected. None I purchased two of these for Ű every to throw in my tech support bag just to have them ( I am the totally free tech assistance geek my buddies and family take for granted). I used 1 on my moms desktop and and the other on my daughters desktop when she began med school. Each work flawlessly for what they use them for. I have had other affordable usb wifi adapters that had difficulty staying connect due to the fact they would overheat. I have not had this difficulty with these. Tricky to complain when I only paid Ű for them.

Frankly, there is absolutely nothing but PROS with this adapter. I've used two other brands in the previous and constantly had complications finding hooked up wirelessly with Windows XP on my old HP laptop.Plugged this factor into a USB port and, essentially, instant connection, making use of the Encore drivers. Really like this factor! None - it just performs.

Simple setup. Worked correct out of the box. Looks a small large/clunky but hardly weighs anything. I didn't think it was secure sticking out of the Computer (might have broken off if bumped) so I place it on the end of an extension cable and tucked it behind a image on the wall. Not only hid it but improved the reception. None so far. Fantastic price tag.

Functions appropriate out of the box with Ubuntu ten.04. The instant I plugged it in, Ubuntu identified the device and identified my wireless network. Signal strength doesn't look to be very great, but I'm particular that's due to a challenge with Ubuntu. I get the full 54Mbps when I'm running Windows. Only 11Mbps when operating Ubuntu ten.04 (though I've had similar experiences with other wifi adapters in Ubuntu 10.04, internal and external). I really like Ubuntu, and it's certainly a greater OS overall, but anything requirements to be performed about the Wifi situation. Other than that, Encore makes a darn very good WiFi adapter.

Inexpensive wireless solution. Sturdy signal in property environment. Plug-n-Play. Win7 Native assistance. Clunky size. My biggest issue is heat. If you strategy to do extensive upload/download with this device note that it will heat up significantly. Heat is the destroyer. I've had mine for about a year and six months and it is succumbing now to heat overload. Webpages won't load. Hold obtaining disconnected from services over and more than again until the unit cools off then every thing runs yet again. I assume I stressed it out to the max and its just worn out now. The great point is, for the cost, you can just have a drawer total of them waiting to replace the one you burn out. Lots of bang for the buck. Perhaps not the best choice for those in the small business of torrenting.

It functions, and it's solidly built. None. I required one of these to play AOE2 wirelessly with my brother. It's a plug-and-play device on Windows 7, but Vista and earlier OSs require a driver installation. I haven't applied it to connect to the online, but I have no purpose to assume it wouldn't function perfectly.

Fast, maintains connection, inexpensive...what a lot more can you want. I advise downloading the drivers from realtek's web site. The connection dropped out on me a couple of instances at first until I downloaded the new drivers from realtek's web site about four days ago. Because then the connection has been perfect with no drops. Appear up some other reviews on here to get the directions to the web site

affordable. The adapter is good mainly because the device is bigger and a tight fit into a crowded USP space. Does get a small warm.

-Low cost-It Operates -Range is awful-Its Major-Does not look good on my black lead to(cause It's white) Nicely I was about to throw it out, but instead I gave it to my dad lol. It's decent for the price tag if you are not that far from your router, but I would reccomend spending a small much more and obtaining a greater quality one.

Occasionally works. Works with Ubuntu and Windows XP. Disconnects randomly and usually. I have tried every little thing the manufacture and net forums suggest. It is also slow. I have one more wireless adapter (much older) connected to the same router that in no way disconnects and is more quickly. I guess in this case, you get what you spend for.

Maintains a moderately swift connection for the average user who doesn't play intense on the web games. Chokes up in CS:source and TF2 every 60 secoonds or so. I tried every driver i could find and tested on win 7 64, win xp 64, and win xp 32. All had the same problem. Soon after trying two unique PCI wireless N adapters that completely failed to access the net as soon as connected to the router (my motherboard is the asus K8N, nforce3 based) regardless of which driver/windows OS combo i tried barring linux, I decided to attempt my luck with a USB device. This adapter, which utilizes a Ralink RT2760, would choke up every single 60 seconds in online gaming. Like clockwork, my ping would spike up in CS supply and TF2. I also noticed the adapter would get incredibly hot immediately after only 5 minutes of moderate activity.

-Cheap-Decent excellent-Smaller size-No drivers needed -extremely brief USB cable, no way to get it additional than four inches away from the back of your computer unless you have your own USB extension cable.-Not the strongest signal, but that could be due to my inexpensive netgear router. For the value it performs the neccessary functions, I'd most likely devote a bit more cash next time and get a additional powerful model.Egg saver shipping is wayyy slow. If you require it quickly go UPS or FedEx
