Good board with quite a few functions that I wanted in a board for my i7 create. Immediately after 4 months of my board operating fine it exibited some weird behavior and then Windows 7 froze. When I rebooted it stopped at verify dmi data pool... After a handful of hours of troubleshooting which included pulling the CMOS battery, pulling memory, flashing BIOS. Absolutely nothing worked. Then I pulled my PCI Wireless NIC that had been operating just fine. Windows booted just fine. I believe that it had to do with some IRQ ten conflict but why that would take place soon after months of operating just fine I am not confident. Following switching my Wireless NIC to a Cisco AE1000 USB every little thing is working like it really should once again.

None that stands out from the competitors. This board has been possessing some troubles with the memory I have in it. I am utilizing Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D 1600mhz memory. I preserve acquiring random memory management blue screens. Seems to do it with a single memory stick or 3 no matter. I have looked into it and I consider I just created a mistake attempting to use this memory with this board as it is not stated that it has been tested to operate with it. Gigabyte has usually been my selection of motherboard soon after I dropped EVGA. I believe Im going to try the ASUS board instead see if it has troubles with this memory.

I bought this when I upgraded to a i7 950 mainly because I've had great success with Gigabyte MOBOS. Then I read the a variety of problems in the critiques so I waited a though to write this. Like all my experiences with Gigabyte this board is performing as expected with no concerns at all w/ 6gig of GSkill ram and two Crossfired Radeon 6850s. None so far.

Comment:
Excellent board, looks really good, supports 24GB of RAM, i7 support, tons of PCI-E slots, a bonus, because I'm operating a HD5870, a Inventive SoundBlaster X-Fi card (PCI-E version), and an Ads Pyro Firewire card to manage audio from my outboard Presonus Firestudio Project sound card. I'm really a small bit surprised, Gigabyte decided to go with a dedicated TI firewire chip on this motherboard, rather than the usual garbage integrated ones, this is a fantastic factor for recording function, given that practically all of Texas Instruments' firewire chips are on the presonus compatibility list. Won't run in triple channel mode with 3 sticks of memory. I'm fairly positive this is due to bent pins in the CPU socket. I've tried reseating the CPU (Core i7 950) 3 or four occasions, tried reseating the memory, and so forth. If I boot the computer system with memory all in white slots ƔGB every single), windows will see 12 GB, 8 GB usable. If I switch the stick in slot five to slot 6, the memory goes to dual-channel mode, but opens up all 12 GB for use. Had been I not employing 12 GB of DDR3-1333, this would be a considerably bigger problem, as I would surely want the higher speed from triple channel, but it's not adequate of a challenge to make me want to spend 2 weeks or much more without having my desktop while I RMA it. I've read reviews about the NIC dying on these boards, so far mine seems to be undertaking alright, but a networking setup I strategy to do soon is likely going to mean I will get an Intel dual gigabit NIC to drop in a single of the PCI-E slots, so no massive deal either way. Also, I can't vouch for the onboard sound, due to the fact I've disabled it, likewise the onboard Firewire, and I don't have any SATA3 or USB three. devices to test that functionality.

"Wow" is about all I can say about this board. I build a new method about every year and am agnostic to what brand I purchase. I use NE evaluations to base my purchases on which led me to this board. It is unbelievable. i don't know if the bundled software program or the actual hardware quality is greater. Under no circumstances in my life have I had such a trustworthy construct. If you're going to buy this board, then read through all the smart critiques on this forum to understand the do's and don'ts. I learned a lot from you guys right here to steer me away from producing stupid blunders. Get RAM that is on the list of authorized modules. devote a few far more dollars for an SSD. Also, consider acquiring a helmet for safety due to the fact this method will buck you appropriate out of your chair. I wish I could record some of the speediness of this thing. Definitely the most rock solid, fastest, coolest issue I've done in a number of years. I think it will even make me greater in bed!

The Gigabyte software was outstanding and incredibly user friendly. The board itself looked fantastic. Would not take 8GBs of memory on installation and continuously rebooted. This situation I knowledgeable is the exact very same problem other users had with VPN cannot boot error. I removed 1 2GB stick and it booted, so I was in a position to load my OS and operate, but the situation was nonetheless there and continued to come about. I sent in several support requests for this problem and two werent even answered! RMAed the board simply because it didn't perform and bought an ASUS. Gigabyte lost a long time client

Has connections I will need, spotty good reviews so I took a opportunity. Utilizing ver 2. board Boot okay till win 7 64 load - takes more than an hour to desktop. Memory okay, HD okay (swapped drive and OS), numerous OS loads, BSOD, NO OVERCLOCKING - utilizing fail-protected default on BIOS. Failure at 60 days (board began great and I was happy simply because it was snappy) - just out of return. On second MB from Newegg - absolutely nothing but difficulty with original board AND now this board. Original MB had memory socket problems, new board does not but following 6 weeks board has slowed down, and a lot of BSOD started. BSOD has designed WD 1 TB HD partition errors and poor sectors. Board started off great and started slowing immediately after a couple of weeks. Win 7 x64 is really slow - takes five minutes to open a file! Win 7 can't locate any issues to repair, CHKDSK repairs HD difficulties but system runs slower every single time, secure mode the same so drivers okay. It would appear to be the SATA chip set simply because I replaced HD and Very same Situation. Again, no memory problems now but MB is NO Great. Would like to arrange replacement under warranty. Still want to stay with board but this will be it - my final attempt. This is my very first Gigabyte board and may possibly be the last. Please aid - this has been going on for 6 months now and I still don't have a laptop or computer. Gigabyte says: use Newegg for return, Newegg says: return period over - hard luck. None. If it doesn't work, there can't be something good about it. I've had 3 of these boards. The final two had been revision two. Neither would post or boot, or even give beep codes. I've just RMA'ed the second. The older a single (revision 1) took a lot of function to make it stable. But I don't advocate the newer revision 2 board, and it's all that is out there. Worse but, I can't advise another brand either. I've built hundreds of computer system over the last 25 years. I've employed almost every brand of motherboard at some point in time. In about 2002 I purchased my first Gigabyte board and the top quality was very high. So I bought tons of them for next few years. But starting about 2008 I began noticing a lot more and a lot more issues with Gigabyte's motherboards, mainly unexpected rebooting, but now DOA's have increased. The very first board I received would not boot into Windows with 3 2GB sticks of memory and I had to request a RMA. The replacement board functions great. The i7 950 CPU on a 1366 socket is a big improvement more than a Q9650 on a 775 board. SATA connectors at the edge of the board were difficult to use with a Thermaltake Element G case since of it's cable management. Booted glitch free of charge very first time, Ran rapid with a SATA III SSD, Loved it while it lived. Only lasted 6 months! I have been running this method 24ǝ뤅 for years as a server utilizing various boards starting with an ASUS P5-B when it was first released. My Final board ahead of this 1 was a Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L with a Core II Quad chip and that was also glitch no cost. In truth the P5-B is nevertheless operating in a good friends pc, I utilized the GA-EP43-UD3L to upgrade my wife's pc, and both are nevertheless operating fine. After 4 months the onboard NIC on the GA-X58A-UD3R died so I installed a card rather than dealing with the hassle of sending it back and possessing my server down. Now 6 months after getting it, the board died, won't POST, and being out of the Newegg 30 day return, I have to send it back to Gigabyte and wait 2-three weeks for a replacement. I lengthy for the old days when Motherboards had been produced in Japan and if they lasted by way of a couple of hour burn-in, they lasted forever.

Stable, Operates Good, has not died however immediately after 1yr of Every day use. Lots of OC choices, Supports 6-core & Extreme i7 CPUs. 2 PCI-E x16 slots that run in 16x mode & dont drop down to 8x. Functions Good with Windows XP & Windows 7 64bit. The Onboard Audio from this board is really noisy & you can hear a lot of digital noise coming from it. I can even hear when the hard drives spin up! Took off 1 egg for the sub-par noisy audio overall performance. Northbridge gets Really HOT, could use a fan blowing on it. Has some matters with transfering data from the rear E-Sata to front USB ports. Utilizing a Seagate freeagent Pro 750g Drive, when transfering data from the rear USB2, to front USB2, there are no problems. but when using rear E-sata to front USB2, the entire laptop or computer begins to act sluggish & overall performance drops. Dont know if there is a concern with the board or the drivers. (Bios & Drivers all update to current versions)

This is a excellent motherboard...It's essentially wise (with the help the CPU I'm positive) but it was able to tell me exactly what concerns I was getting when it came to more than or below voltage with the really informative lighting that's on-board (way far better than older boards) that only had the error beeps in certain orders that you had to guess what they meant. Plus the speeds are incredible way greater than expected!!! None that I can see at this time...the board knows how to deal with high power demands.Okay right here's a legit CON...this board could use a bit far more spacing in between each Video card and also where the SATA plugins go. I like the reality that they are curved but the video still go correct more than the top rated which mean I had to bend my SATA cables appropriate around them...a bit of a tight squeeze if you could think about.Oh and this isn't seriously a motherboard matter but (well maybe it is I'm not certain) but I connected a program fan to the board to assist cool off my video cards and the speed of the fan is not reporting in the BIOS which isn't seriously a large deal but I just thought it was a bit strange... I was originally gonna go with a ASUS board but my prior build was a GIGABYTE method and I enjoy their stuff. Please it was a lot less complicated to migrate and switch drivers given that most of them were just straightforward replacement and upgrades...By the way this is the initially Intel Program I've ever built I was a strong believer in AMD for the longest time, but now it seems AMD is really behind the curve on the most up-to-date technology I feel I'm converted for life now I adore how incredible my program is operating correct now all thanks to Intel and Gigabyte...extended reside Nemesis!

This is a incredibly clean seeking Motherboard it has plenty off fan headers i was able to run every fan in my case off this board. I have it with a i7 950 with 12gb of kingston hyper-X and two evga gtx 570 video cards and each factor posted on 1st boot. To the individuals that are having troble booting try switching your ram to the whit colored slots on the board and make sure thast they are locked into spot great. The only con to me is that the board is not all black in color. This was the second time i used a gigabyte board the initially was with there P55 series and was in a position to overclock my i5 750 to 4ghz solid exactly where my evga board would only take it to 3.6ghz solid so gigabyte is a very excellent organization.

*Installation went smoothly; there were no big surprises.*The BIOS is pretty complete and does its job nicely. It's pretty properly organized and easy to uncover stuff.*The board itself feels really sturdy.*It's Linux friendly as far as I can tell. I haven't identified any show stoppers yet. *The default splash screen is kind of ugly (it looks just like the box). Thankfully, it can be effortlessly turned off in the BIOS.*It takes a bit longer for the BIOS to boot than other boards. It doesn't truly bother me substantially although.*The white and blue plastic pieces subtract from the otherwise lovely metallic blue colors. IMHO, black plastic would've been better.*Could use a few much more on-board USB ports.*The northbridge gets hot, and the heatsink is created in a way that would make it difficult to mount a fan on it.*The NIC wasn't automatically detected in Windows 7. Not a difficulty for me (it works with Linux out of the box), but a small inconvenient if you're installing Windows because you can't jump on the Net appropriate soon after the install to get drivers. I bought this board simply because the "gamer" board I initially purchased had an unfixed BIOS bug with its APIC (at least as far as I can tell) that triggered Linux (or any other *nix) to run really badly. Most folks would contemplate it a downgrade, but this board performs a lot far better than the more-costly one I purchased before. It appears to be incredibly sturdy and stable. I haven't tried OC'ing however, but it looks promising.
