I have usually employed Asus, but now I feel I wll start out utilizing Gigabyte, I bought this board for my first i7 make, and I am very pleased. This board is the Exact similar as the X58A-UD7 just without having the Water cooling.Looks excellent and the Bios is incredibly advanced and lots of selections.LEDs are a good add...And this board is ready for USB3. and Sata3., Way ahead of the curve. Not just this board but all X58 boards have a messed up PCI layout... I don't like it but it does the job. I like how gigabyte laid out this board. It was straightforward to hook up and the additional feeatures are nice and I utilized the onboard problems codes. I feel that is the finest choice no more guessing why comp wont boot. The ICH10R would not let my SSD G-Ability 120 GIG GO to sleep. I put SSD on the Marvell Sata port operates fine no a lot more troubles. Do not let it do your loaundry it is totally colour Blind. I now have lots of pinks.

this is one particular of my prized procession. extraordinary piece of hardware and very properly developed. lets start out of from the looks...the color is remarkable since it is all blue and white which is actually my favored colors. the NB and SB coolers are unbelievable. if you buy the ud7 they give you the pci NB cooler which appears freaking incredible. also terrible it didnt come with the ud5. it comes with usb 3. and ample amounts of usb2. in the back such as combo slots among esata and usb2.. i really like the sata cables they give you simply because they truly have lock clips so that it doesn't pop out of the sockets. they also provide 90 degrees sata cables so that it tends to make cable managing SUPER Uncomplicated. a board like this doesn't come cheapsome bios settings are a little weird to do but you just have to google and toy aboutno bios fan control. its either maximum or auto

This board is the most gorgeous board I have ever laid eyes upon. Anything about it speaks top quality from the PCB building, heatsinks/pipes on the bridges, and so on. These guys have thought of everything on this board. USB 3., SATA 6gb prepared, you will be futureproof for a whilst to come. There are ten SATA ports inside...that's appropriate, ten. I have 8 drives, and I failed to use up all the ports, a initially! The rear inputs are just marvelous, with eSATA ports doubling up as USB ports (ingenious!), firewire, optical out, the works. This thing is an overclocker's dream. It will actually reboot and keep attempting your settings alternatively of failing and turning off like a loser. And if it can't, then it'll finally reset and inform you. BIOS menu is simple, and very friendly. The CPU location can accomodate just about any HSF you throw at it (I place a Prolimatech Megahalems rev B.). Northbridge stays good and cool for OCing as properly.Gigabyte does it again! Only 1 PCI slot. Virtually no 1 uses em these days (maybe for a sound card) so it's not really a con. You will not regret this board! If you're on the border of receiving this vs the UD3R, in my opinion spend a bit far more and get this! USB 3. and Sata 6gb/sec prepared is completely worth it.

None that I know off. Well, I received the board with the socket protector not effectively installed, so trigger of that i had a few bent pins. I tested it to see if the board was operating effectively and it did. But for some cause i didnt really feel comfortable so i RMA'ed it to Gigabyte. I received the board about two weeks later, still with bent pins, now the board wont even post. As quickly as it reaches the bois screen the board goes in a restart loop. Switch everything like new graphics card, memory, challenging drive still very same problem. I dont know if its worth it to RMA again as they dont repair the dilemma, when you send the board for repair. Final time I am buying a Gigabyte brand motherboard. Stick with ASUS people in no way had a problem with them. I read a lot of great evaluations for this board, i guess i wasnt the lucky a single. I want to like this board - it has two SATA 6Gbps and 8 SATA 3Gbps connections, plus two real PCIe x16 slots and up to four PCIe x16 slots configured as x8s, 2 PCIe x1 slots, and even IDE, FDD connections! It is also supposed to support the new six core, 32nm Core i7-980X with F2 BIOS versions and later (see manufacturer's solution page's for function list and supported processors). Feature-sensible, I think it is superior to the equivalent ASUS boards. Unfortunately, the board shipped from Newegg came with the F1 BIOS and will not post with a Core i7-980X. There are a quantity of evaluation internet sites and other customers that have encountered this challenge. The fix calls for a BIOS upgrade utilizing a compatible Core i7 processor, which I don't have.Note that this seems to be a current serial quantity board.Fundamentally, Gigabyte need to not advertise the board as supporting the Core i7-980X and then ship it with an older F1 BIOS that does not support that processor.Presumably the BIOS concern can be sorted out (hopefully by means of Gigabyte replacing my motherboard), but - for a board that is advertised as supporting the processor - we must not have to place up with this.Aside from the BIOS, I have two minor troubles with the board: 1 PCIe 1x slot is useless as it is obstructed by the cooler. The other is the placement of the IDE and FDD connections, which are at the wrong finish of the board. You might require longer cables (I did). Newegg has supplied to wave the restocking charge and exchange my board for one more motherboard of equal or higher value.Nevertheless, feature for function - I prefer this board more than the equivalent ASUS boards, but - if Gigabyte / Newegg continue to sell this board with the older F1 BIOS, I can not suggest this board if you plan on using the newer six core 32nm Intel processors (e.g., Core i7-980X).I do believe that it would be a wonderful board for the older Intel processors supported by the F1 BIOS that appears to nevertheless be shipping with this board. All specified except 1 Marvell SATA 6Gb/s is a bust out of the box. I have the rev2. and I am not able to get a raid setup with my 2 120gig SSD drives. Normally what happens is one of the drives will drop from the raid, causing a slow freeze of the computer. There are postings in the gigabyte forums, and they acknowledge the limitiations of this. Hopefully Marvell will repair the difficulty with their drivers, but for now it is a bust.

Impressive board, lots of alternatives to tweak and adjust. Trouble-free overclocking if you so opt for to, Really like the programs it comes with. Board has a TON of capabilities. Only concern I ran across was that when I had 12 gigs of ram in the technique it read 12 but only stated eight was usable. Took out one particular stick and now reads all ten gigs installed. Didn't certainly care to fuss with it so I can use the spare stick for testing purposes. Other than that this board has been a dream (and for people today who say it's a bent pin or as well substantially pressure on the CPU I have disassembled and reassembled the method three times and I have gone over the pins with a 25X magnifying glass and there are no bent pins and pressure is equal on all sides of the CPU cooler. It seems to be a general issue with Socket 1366 and I am NOT breaking my back to get it to register a total of two extra gigs worth of usable ram. Ten is much more than sufficient) I got this board to replace a Asus p6x58d premium that had two dead DIMMs on arrival. I had the original 58-uD5 but I wanted the USB three and the Sata six to somewhat future proof my method just after I had a flood which killed the original board. Gigabyte runs nice and smooth and I appreciate the LEDs that register on the board itself along with the error codes. Now that the technique is finally back together I am satisfied to have Gigabyte back in my computer. Great board for the 1st 6 months ahead of it craps out. Support is NON-EXISTENT. I've owned this board for a tiny over 6 months before it crapped out. Followed just about every trouble shooting approach on the internet site and then in forums. Tested all my other hardware, I'm convinced the board is faulty. I've tried to get in touch with the Assistance telephone number 16 occasions, left 8 messages, none returned. Put in an RMA request on their website, entirely ignored. I even emailed the newegg-help e-mail address they preserve responding to poor evaluations with and it's been effectively more than two weeks and not a word. I even spent the dollars and got the extended warranty simply because I thought this board would go the distance. This is the 1st, and fairly considerably the final mobo I'll ever purchase from Gigabyte, in truth in all probability the final product in common. I've purchased other products from them in the previous and they too have proven to be poor good quality. I purchased this on faith simply because of all the excellent reviews, I wish I had listened to my gut and avoided this business altogether.I'm not the kind of individual to post a poor review, but immediately after a month of being ignored by this business I'm left with no selection.DON'T Get THIS BOARD. So many features. Runs smooth, and does every little thing I purchased it for. Typos everywhere - even in the BIOS! It's blatantly obvious the software program was written in [a foreign nation] or somewhere similar. The software program that comes with it for "Easy Overclocking" is ridiculously unreliable. The only factor it's great for is monitoring temperatures.

Purchased this as a combo with my i7-920 and couldn't be happier! Plugged in every little thing and booted appropriate up. Overclocking was incredibly basic even for my very first time. Just had to make positive to read as substantially as attainable so I wouldn't mess something up. Have not tried to SLI or use the 6Gb/s sata but will some day. Like others have mentioned the pata and floppy connectors are challenging to get to but I use neither so it's not a challenge. Also, the USB was a stretch and had to do some crazy rerouting in order to get the case USB plugged in. I have not attempted to SLI but my EVGA GTX 275 appears rather close to the next PCI-e x16 slot, I'll cross that road when it comes though. Gigabyte has in no way disappointed me and I recommend it to every person I know.

Well made, with a fantastic layout. USB three, SATA 6GB, eSATA, and so forth. Good accessories (right-angle SATA cables!). Simple to setup Worked out of the box. No muss. No fuss. Extremely competitive value/performance. Tons of possibilities in the BIOS. Lots of SATA ports. Has PCI-e 1x above video card allowing simple set up of sound card or other 1x PCI-e card. Liked the color coding on the front panel connectors. Would like to see far more separation among PCIEx16_1 and PCIEx16_2. (Lose/move the second PCIEx1 and move the PCIEx16_1 slot up one particular spot). Would also have liked to see a committed eSATA port for the front panel for further comfort. Limited 3 yr warranty. All in all, a quite nice board with little to complain about. Operating 6GB Corsair XMS 1600 RAM, i7-930. Place it together and the method fired up without concern. Built the technique in Could and all is well. No complaints. I would definitely advocate this board to a friend.

Significant comparison narrowed my option down to this board and the ASUS P6X58D Premium, which I ordered very first, but returned, as this Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 has more substantial heatsinks, eSATA ports, and just appears to be a far better made board. It has tons of WARNING LEDs displaying anything from the temp of the processor, the temp of the X58 chip, overvoltage and overclocking error LEDs, plus a digital readout of POST situations and errors. Most importantly, the ASUS board does NOT have eSATA connections, which are most important to a photographer and videographer who Want to backup big amounts of valuable data. Cons? Are you kidding? I Enjoy this board! I am utilizing the stock Intel heatsink which gives airflow to the heatsinks for the motherboard chips and RAM, which aftermarket coolers do not cool.Runs flawlessly with Windows-7 64bit, as well as Ubuntu 32bit. I have not tried Ubunta 64, as Adobe does not make a 64bit pdf reader for Linux (or at least I can\'t locate it), so the 32bit runs flawlessly nicely, and is a extremely excellent O.S. decision at instances too.Configuration? What configuration? Every thing was detected and auto-configured by default settings! Overclocking? Yes, they make that SO Basic also! There is no way I can rate this board any greater, as this board meets my expectations, in all areas!

Motherboard worked fine for the 1st two months. First point to quit working was the floppy.Didn't show up in the bios even switching it with another floppy nevertheless ng. Then the IDE buss failed . Initial the IDE HDD stopped operating ,then the CD drive stopped working. Switching it out with Identified good drives didnt aid. Had the f5 bios installed.i had attempted the f6 bios but that produced points worst so i went back to the f5. So i sent the board to Gigabyte RMA. a handful of weeks later i got the board back Gigabyte had put the f6 bios in but the board nevertheless didnt see the floppy and the IDE buss nonetheless didn't work. With the f6 bios the memory would only operate with 1 ddr3 installed. putting in 3 resulted in continual reboots. and yes they had been installed in the right slots. The motherboard functions ok with f5 bios just i no longer can use my IDE HDD and IDE CD drive. Gigabyte didnt truly verify out this board simply because if they had they would exchanged it for a diffrent 1 as this one particular does not perform as it really should. My 1st Gigabyte board and it will be the last. Now it would just be a funds pit.Going back to Asus Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your comments.
