GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5830 GV-R583UD-1GD Video Card
Comment:
Runs just about each and every game on the market place on highest settings with no issue. Severe cutting difficulties with many monitors. Which only get exponentially worse if you raise its clock even just a bit 齠). Some difficulties with drivers. A little dissapointed due to the fact of the cost and this issue. The flickering appears to occur alot with flash and every single time i use a scroll wheel in a pdf. Eyefinity does fix this, although i shed some functionality. Such as the windows + arrow important functions which i adore. This seems to be an problem for every person, and since the drivers haven't fixed this however, i worry that it is the card.

Comment:
Nice style? Its really fairly. It worked extremely, incredibly nicely for gaming/streaming HD video over the past 6 months. The fans are also super, super quiet, which is possibly the largest selling point, due to the fact... - Dual-display performance: It's incredibly poor. As a lot of other people have noted, this chipset has a difficulty with flickering and tearing in dual-display setups. Be it, two DVI displays or a mixture of DVI and HDMI, I had problems with tearing when running a game or video in one display or the other that I could under no circumstances uncover a resolution to. The only thing I can advise for the tearing in videos/movies is to use VLC media player. This seemed to assist a bit, while there was nevertheless the occasional horizontal tear/flicker.- Reliability: I've never ever had a video card just keel over after much less than six months of use. I don't get to game significantly, and my gaming room is well-ventilated, I dust out my system routinely...sooo, I have no notion why, but nowadays the card just keeled over. Began with the driver crashing each ten minutes or so, until they lastly locked up Windows 7. Rebooted the program aaaand...no video! Now working with an backup EVGA Nvidia card. It's years old and won't play my games ...but it Works! Gigabyte usually has a great track record for board durability/reliability. I can't see what occurred to the card in this instance to make it just abruptly bomb like this. There's no bulged/blow capacitors that I can see, and no apparent heat harm anywhere on the board.I've got a Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H motherboard that I've had for years now, and I've under no circumstances had any issues with it. It's the finest motherboard I've ever had. I believed I was creating a safe bet when I went with a Gigabyte card...but yeah, you see what happened. Very disappointing, Gigabyte. Good quick GPU that has been able to deal with every little thing I've thrown at it. Sitting idle the temp is usually just under 50°, at full load it by no means appears to cross 60° though, so I guess I don't have a dilemma with it.It also was a bit of a bear to get it to fit into my case, I had to reroute a few wires behind my harddrives to give it the clearance it necessary.

Decent efficiency for the cost, though there may possibly be other selections in that department Very significantYou want to adjust scaling possibilities right off the bat or your display will look letter-boxedA challenge with clock speeds causes monitor jitters on second display- addressable but an unforgivable dilemma that ATI demands to fix ASAP This card was a lot of work to get running. Immediately after an RMA and tweaking it is running OK, but I wouldn't advocate it for the hassle element

Runs pretty considerably any modern day game at the highest setting with no troubles at all. Dual fans preserve it nice and cool. 256 bit GDDR5 rather of 128 Absolutely nothing genuinely for the price, although do anticipate this card to run slightly hotter than some of the other 5830s out there. Haven't tried to connect this card to one more one via Crossfire, but unless you program on running multiple monitors, it's genuinely not even worth it.

Outstanding card for the price, on the other hand, I did not notice adequate of a considerable change in FPS on WoW to warrant keeping the card. The card I was replacing is a 8800 GTS 512 MB (G92). Newegg support is amazing and allowed me to return for a full refund. ATI drivers are far better than they utilized to but still have some unusual issues. Default scaling for HDMI input forces a black border about my screen generating 1920 x 1080 smaller than standard. This is fixed with a driver setting, but I had to investigation the difficulty to locate the setting location. Not incredibly user friendly. I plan on purchasing an NVidia GTX 460 1GB card rather of this 1. With the new NVidia 460 series, this card is not as excellent of a value as it utilised to be. Just be positive to obtain the 1GB version and not the 768 mb. NVidia tends to have greater drivers than ATI.

Fans are quiet with the load I've thrown at it, 8 fans in my case and the ones on the card are the least loud I have a machine operating two monitors and as other people have mentioned, the second monitor flickers out of the box. This card is an incredible gamer. Crysis, Battlefield Poor Business II, Starcraft II, no problem, highest settings with AA and AF, no problem! The Cooler too, WOW!! Its Cool, and its whisper quiet, in loading tests I cant get this thing past fifty without and thats without ramping up the fans. I am still experimenting with over-clocking, but I got an extra 10% out of it without having any effort, or adverse effects. I feel there is extra overhead beyond that, I am still experimenting. Literally, none at all. Its a excellent card for under 赨.

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5830 GV-R583UD-1GD Video Card
Comment:
When configured, this video card delivers excellent performance given the expense of the card. If you are going to be utilizing this card in a dual display setup, there will be severe flickering on the secondary display whenever hardware 3D or hardware video decoding is in use. I ended up returning the 1st card that I received since I thought it was defective. When the second card arrived and had the very same issue I found that the flickering is just a feature of this card. Soon after scouring the world wide web, I was able to locate a workaround for the flickering concerns. Fixing the flickering that occurred when 3D acceleration was active involved altering the core and memory clocks of the card by one increment. Fixing the flickering that occurred when hardware assisted video decoding was active necessary disabling hardware assisted video decoding entirely. There appears to be an issue with this card's capability to enter and leave its power saving core and memory clock speeds. Altering the clock speeds by 1 increment, 5 Mhz core and 10 Mhz memory, somehow prevents the card from entering that state and mostly resolved its flickering problems. It's unfortunate that an otherwise good video card is plagued by a problem that affects its fundamental functionality. For people running single monitor setups, this card would be a superior solution. For people today running dual monitor setups, there are much better solutions out there. Nicely I got this card along with a HIS 5830 for Crossfire and wow! excellent efficiency! sooo much superior than my 4870! operating with a Physx GTS250 card and wow... just amazing for my Eyefinity setup. 1 of the DVI connnections doesnt work. I had a 3 monitor set up employing the two DVI connections and Display port and anytime I try to play a video, I get glitching on 1 of the DVI connected ports. All the cables are tight and secure so it wasn't that. Luckly i just switch the cards around so the HIS is my main and everything works fine.

Great cost, Gigabyte makes some pretty great stuff, purchasing from Newegg. This card runs cool, I mean genuinely cool! appx 40 degrees cooler that my old 4870. Preformance is nicely.......meh... about the similar as my old card I was replacing(if not slower) .I hoped for an improvement in particular considering the old card was 1.five years old. I have had some minor artifacting. I will preserve an eye on it, who knows perhaps I got a poor card. If the preformance de-grades any I will RMA it and attempt once more.

The card is fast and fairly a lot the very best card you can get for 200.00 I did a considerable quantity of research into the video card and located this 1 to be a best get so to speak. But I did not do sufficient research into my motherboard. A lot of folks have stated that this card is big but i definitely did not comprehend prior to i bought it. Please understand that this card is longer then a standard Motherboard. This card interferes with my sata ports and I had to remove my north bridge fan. If i put the card in slot Š i had to eliminate my pc speaker connector. For my board the GA-K8N Pro SLI this card is horrible. Soon after removing the SLI memory card and putting in just this card I got no display, trouble shot every little thing from memory bios updates and energy supply with no fix. Assessment your motherboard to make positive absolutely nothing is in the way of this card mainly because A Lot of motherboards can't seat this card correctly. If you have a ddr1 or ddr2 memory board with a nforce chipset any ati card may possibly not work at all for you. In my research i found that some motherboards have a bios update which fix's the problem but most do not. I rated the card a 4 because the ati <-> nforce chipset concern is not the card manufacturers fault. In retrospect I should have realized that this card is too large for any motherboard with connectors near the pcie slots. I nonetheless strategy to use this video card just not in the pc it was bought for.

Appears to work excellent with single-monitor systems. I could not make it work with dual-monitor setup. I tried all the tricks I could come across on the 'Net and absolutely nothing works: each time I'd do anything to windows on the main display, the secondary display would jitter and tear... which as I learned right after searching, is a very frequent challenge with this chipset (ie., NOT particular to Gigabyte). Seems like maybe ATI/AMD has an problem with their firmware/drivers. I also have a Gigabyte 5870-based card in a various technique (same MB and CPU), and it works perfectly with one or two displays. This 5830-based card is - I hate to say it - fully unacceptable when making use of two monitors. I would have given this card 1 egg, but it does seem to perform incredibly well with a single display attached. The great news is, NewEgg Support has worked incredibly nicely with me in resolving this concern. When it works, it appears excellent. Plays SOME of my games really nicely. Appears to stay fairly cool, and pretty quiet. I Still can't play CoD1 or CoD2!!! Unable to even start out up these games. Constantly just fails. I've updated my drivers via three releases to the lastest 10.8 ATi drivers. Figured they would have fixed the divers by now, but NO! If you have games you adore to play, don't count on them working. I've usually been an NVIDA person, never had any troubles, but thought I'd give ATI a attempt. Huge MISTAKE. Everybody complains about driver issues with the ATI cards, I just WISH I had listened. What I wouldn't give to dump this ATI factor for a good NVIDIA465. Quiet due to the solid copper heat sinks on the cooler, the good quality is both apparent and abundant. Plus it matches well with my GIGABYTE mother board. It works well with Windows Xp, I do not have Windows 7 but so haven't tested it with Direct X 11 however but it runs quickly of XP.I will be acquiring Windows 7 soon and will see how it stacks then, but as many men and women still run XP I thought the above could be valuable. On Ubuntu it would not work properly with Karmic Koala, it would not recognize the drivers. If you want to use this card you will need to upgrade. I updated to Ubuntu Lucid Lynx and the card runs smooth as silk in each Ubuntu with full effects turned on and Windows XP now. As soon as once more I reiterate, a quiet, quickly, solidly created video card. GIGABYTE makes a top quality product in my opinion.

This is a good gpu overall. Excellent cooling with the stock fans and some great alternatives as lengthy as u have the 10.four drivers. To start off off with, shadows and effects Can\'t be processed at a decent speed. When getting involved with heavy shadows and explosions it tends to drop FPS ALOT! I'm not positive of the cause yet. This is about 5mm bigger than my ATX so be cautious about size. I have the Antex 900 and had to make a few adjustments. Not alot of support and too high-priced for what it pushes. Could have been better.

i bought this card on sale for 200$ after MIR with free shipping as well, so it was a great deal. UP FROM A 9600GT, it's a huge step up (obviously). it was easy to install, you just pop it in and boot up. the amd cat 10.6 drivers took all of 10 minutes to download from the web, install and boot, which made things very easy. as i mentioned above, mine did not overclock well. i've heard of people reaching 950MHz with a 5830 on the core clock without a voltage tweaker, but mine did wouldn't go over 850MHz & 1140MHz on the memory. i'll have to live with it i guess. i'm not sure if all gigabyte cards are like that, i just got unlucky i think. but nevertheless, this is still a very powerful card. i run tom clancy's hawx at 1902 x 1080 at full settings with 8xAA and i didn't have a hiccup. also handles BFBC 2 and CODMF2 with no problems at max settings.this card isn't as long as the reference card, but at 26cm it is still a fair sized card. it's helpful though because the power connectors are on the side, and not the end, so they don't add any extra length. cooler is great too, this card is awesome!
