Gives you a better quality of image in your display and if you find it for a few bucks, don't doubt in buy it, since that many monitors doesn't include this cable.

Boy did it make a difference! Previously I've had a strong contrast/brightness problem, likely due to the quality of the vga cable. I should've switched to dvi sooner. I don't use the dual link feature, so I can't say much about that. If you need one and ever find it on 5.99 sale, buy it!

Comment: This cable looks great but it is not really a dual link cable. 120 Hz monitors like the ASUS VG236 which require true dual link cables will not work with these cables. I purchased two of these cables and neither will work. Everything is fine until you switch to 120 Hz then the screen garbles so that the text becomes unreadable.Do not purchase one of these if you're application requires a dual link cable.The cable works fine at 60 Hz on either the VG236 or my older Acer LCD monitor.This is my first experience with nGear products and will likely be my last. All they do is manufacture cables. Is it really that hard to get cable specs correct when it's your core business?

The cable that come with the monitor is always crap.

I would have rated one star (or ideally zero stars), but the system requires an order ID for reviews of 1 or 2 stars, and lo and behold, my order ID keeps showing as invalid!If you are into buying dual link cables to use in single link applications, you might like this cable, because the package says it is dual link.But if you are looking for a dual link cable that isn't a single link cable, you MUST NOT BUY THIS CABLE.Come on, NCIX, this is FALSE ADVERTISING. People have been stating for years that this is NOT A DUAL LINK CABLE. Why are you still selling it if it is clearly not?Go ahead. Try running this cable at a higher res than 1920x1080. You need dual link? Don't buy this. Need a single link? You're better off buying one from a Chinese dicount website. It is probably manufactured at the same plant, and at least if it doesn't work, they'll probably send you a new one free of charge.

Comment: Picked up this cable to connect my 2nd LCD monitor to my desktop. For the price this cable is a beast. There is a blue/black sleeve around the cable instead of the usual black cable. In addition the cable is very long and looks very durable.

Answer: Because this is the WORST ONE I HAVE EVER USED IN MY LIFE! This thing wasted 10 hours of my time trying to diagnose the problem, and resulted in two RMA's and three trips to NCIX. By the way, I am an experienced troubleshooter, and system builder.Long story short - this is a _DUAL LINK_ (DVI-DL) cable which should work for 30" 2560x1600 monitors such as the Dell 3007WFP that I have. Well, these DO NOT WORK! I had one and after trying everything I could think of (and find online) my monitor would not work at its native resolution. It was only limited to 1280x800 and was behaving as if a single link cable is attached. I tried multiple computers, videocards, etc. I exchanged it for another cable (same) and that cable didn't work either. In fact it didn't work AT ALL and would not turn on.I decided to try a different brand, so I exchanged it for the Startech 6ft dual link cable. It worked right away at native resolution with no issues whatsoever. Guess what? Both of these cables were defective.I was very close to RMA'ing my monitor and wasting more time and money. I recommend you stay away from this cable if you need a dual link cable. If you don't need a dual link cable (required only for 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 resolutions) you should buy the cheaper single link cable anyway.

Pros:Price, which I got this price matched for $4 Comment: Now that I have the replacement one it works fine. I'm happy with it. It was a great price for $4 so no complaints there!I would buy it again for sure. I went from a vga to dvi and I notice a big difference.I'm a gamer and with the vga there would be a split second between when the game was first launched that the monitor would lose the signal. Now with this DVI cable there is NO signal lost at anytime. Much prefer it over VGA.Not losing the signal is what made me happy so it's DVI over VGA for sure. However comparing the picture quality between the two I don't really see any difference.When I upgrade to a HDMI video card however I'll be switching to that cable! ;-) This review was modfied by poster @ 03-10-10 03:54 AM

The big plus was that it's 10 feet in length, while I probably only need at most currently is maybe 5 feet. The pricing I got down to about $5 at the time, so that was good. So far, i've not had a single issue with this cable and would recommend it.
