Order a Tuesday at 15.00 and I received the following day at 13h40! Simply WOW NCIX extraordinary speed. I expected so much! Thank for your good service ! It is the height of your reputation....J'ai acheter ce disque dur pour des backups et photo et autres fichier imposant. Hitachi a toujours fabriquer de bon disque dur et le rma est bas.. En plus a 49,99$ plus 10$ de shipping pourquoi s'en passer... Commander un mardi 15h00 et reçu chez moi le lendemain a 13h40 ! Tout simplement WOW NCIX extraordinaire rapidité. Purchased this on one of the sales, $59 for 500 gigs ain't too shabby in my eyes. Actual space reported according to windows was 479686 mb so pretty darn close to the 500 gigabytes advertised. Super silent running as well. Can't tell it's even running and I have it screwed directly to the metal rack

You cannot go wrong with this SATA2 drive. 500 GB. Hitachi makes very good drives that last a long time.

This drive works very well as it should. I use it as a storage device to back up all my files. Mpeg video files from TV recording used to fill up my old 80gb drives very easily then i would have to start deleting certain vids. On this drive, it will be awhile before I need to delete  anything.

Picked this up for a HTPC build and really glad that I did. This thing is fast, quiet, and big enough that it won't fill up after a few dozen movies. Really impressed with it so far. So much quieter than the 1TB WD Caviar in my other new rig. I can see why people like these drives. At under $70 on sale it's a steal.

500GB is huge cant fill this. Access read times are very fast got 5.9 for Vista Index Rating. I 2 of these and copying between them is very quick. This hdd keeps cool around 40 at load and i Have 4 120mm fans

Had to replace quickly a failed system disk on a customer's file server. 500 GB is overkill for a system disk, but this seems to be what is available today. It is sad to see that the 5YR warranties seems to be gone from this market segment. It will do the job.

Very good harddrive, fast enough for a workstation. Used it as part of an upgrade. Tried Hitachi instead of Seagate and i'm very dispointed, it's very lousy, this single harddrive is doing more noise than my 3 Seagate together in my gaming rig.

Been running this drive in my QNAP NAS server for quite awhile. It's on 24/7 and has served very well in a NAS environment.

I had this drive for 4 months now, will not buy another drive from Hitachi anytime soon, because it has reliability issues. These were a few times every month operating system can not be loaded.

These are some solid drives. I got two for $59.99 each, then got USD $10 back for both, which brought their price under $50. I'm very happy with the purchase so far.

I always used to have WD but they usually become loud after few months of using them. I decide to get Hitachi this time and so far i'm very satisfied. It's super silent like there is no hard drive at all. And unzip/unrar/transfer lard files seems to be faster with hitachi than with WD.

Bought this hitachi drive after the other brand harddrive that i was using failed. Robbed an old 40gig hitachi harddrive from a 7 year old PC. The old 40gig hitachi worked better than the newer 320gig s##g#t#. Will buy hitachi again. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-12-08 06:24 PM

Picked up one of these, (should have picked up two) for $60.Solid HDD sporting nice speeds. A real bummer you have to load software to change controller speed though. Just read the readme and everything will be fine.

Bought it when it was on sale for 63 on Sept, very satisfied since then. It also comes w/ 3yr MFR warranty, so there is no need to worry for a long time. :)

Great hard drive for the price and with the 5 year waranty there is no worry. Runs very silent, but the i did notice compaired to my Seagate it is a little bit slower on data retrival.

Bought this after reading other reviews. Not sorry I did. It came out way ahead of Seagates Barracudda in "HD Tack". Nice way to go if you want redundancy.

Great price was offered so i bought one of these. Warranty is 3 years but right off the bat i notice it runs kind of noisy and hotter then the seagate drive. Hitachi deskstars werent very reliable drives in the past for me so im skeptical. Its working fine so i dont see a need to RMA it yet but i dont like how noisy it is.

a very good drive, part of my gaming rig and hasn't failed me yet, for about the first 1.5-2 seconds after initial start-up, it spins quite loud whith a whine and then becomes virtually silent, can't really distinquish it from the other sounds coming from my computer. Would buy again if i needed another drive
