I have now owned this unit for a year now and I can testify that it is one of the best items available for the money, super convenient and just plain works. I live in a rural area and dial up and wait is my only option. Over the years we have had perhaps 5 modems 3 pci cards, 1 external and now this one. Lightning has taken out two computers via phone lines and even the external modem died via electrocution, however this usb unit seems to get along just fine and yes I do believe in surge protection, three in line and even then I lost a computer. Oh well keeps me building and Tiger in business.

I bought this modem for the ''phone tray free'' software that uses callerid to filter calls. It works! I had to update from the web site but all is well now.

I can't tell you how much I LOVE this modem! I was extremely frustrated with my PC. I only have dial-up available in my area, so I was constantly frustrated with the SLOWness of my internet connection. It solved every problem I had, including the disconnect and pages not loading problems. I can now get phone calls while online also, so another household problem solved! It took so much disharmony out of my life - THANK YOU!!! 5++++ stars

I ordered one of these to use on my Compaq EVO Desktop running Windows XP Pro to just receive faxes. Although I spoke to tech support at HIRO twice, and to Tiger support (which is very good), I could not get it to answer faxes. Even though it was configured to automatically answer phone, the software bundled with modem failed to do this. Both techs at HIRO and Tiger recommended I return the device, and because they weren't sure if there was software conflict, recommended that I order a different modem. I did not configure my computer for 64 bit, and I do not know if that was the issue. The modem did not completely fail. It worked about 10% of the time. Since I did not change settings, and left it in the receive mode 100% of the time, missing 90% of my faxes was unacceptable.

I have tried one of these USB Modems and it simply works great with no difficulties or malfunctions. Very easy install, setup, and software included all worked well also. This Item worked better than my US Robotics USB modem that has been my primary quick and easy modem.

This is a great buy and the compact size design allows me to put it along with the notebook bags. Works with my XP system and would love to try it on Vista to see how it performs. Highly recommend.

Finally! I no longer want to smash my desktop! Just received this modem last night and it's great...I get on at 48.0 consistently when before it was anywhere from 28-40 and always disconnecting. Great price was nice also. 5 stars!

I got this USB modem yesterday and connects at 49.2Kbps, far better than my previous 33.6k. Easy installation without and problem. Recommand.
