Only One Small Problem
Comment:
This board is great. Especially when I was only planning on one GPU. The only snag is that it appears that the P45 chipset drops the x16s down to x8s when in crossfire config.

Intel DP45SG Motherboard Is a great deal for the price however, Its seems pretty complicated setting the confiqurations, thats the tricky part. Once the settings is complete there's no looking back. This motherboard is a great deal for gaming.

Good for 1st time enthusiast/clockers
Comment:
Good board that wont limit you to the hardware you can stuff in it IE: HD x2 or GTX 295. DDR3 Ram Have not released a desktop controller for this bios version for mother board so you will have to overclock it in bios. Need floppy drive for it to work for xp (comes with floppy) And if you use 2 (HD x2 or GTX 295) you will need right angle sata connectors due that four sata's are under one pci 16 slot. (they must have known this because the top slot is upside down to the lower ones as so you can connect all four with right angle sata's. Best board for price range you will not be dissapointed or limited.

FAST BOARD
Comment:
Installed with Core2 Duo E8500 with 4gb OCZ Fatal1ty Ram @ 1333mhx (CPU/BOARD/RAM @ 1333mhz). Memory posted as 1066mhz @ 1.5v. Updated BIOS then manually changed voltage and speed to 1333mhz @ 1.75 volts. Been running for few months without any problems. *****IMPORTANT: (For ram @ 1.7v+, You must update the BIOS before you try to change the RAM voltage, speed, and timings. I used the timings from the OCZ website and they worked perfectly. Overall a really nice board. No legacy support. No IDE headers, or PS2 ports. You will need USB mouse and Keyboard and I used SATA HardDrives in RAID config (Using Vista64 no need for RAID Drivers on the floppy). Will use this board again for Core2 systems.

Good Board
Comment:
Pros-Fast board, DDR3, easy BIOS, expandability. Cons-Video card makes it hard to remove ram when installed. 1354 plug sits right under a 2-slot video card. Overall-Bought it as part of a barebones kit. OZC memory gave me the BSOD when I tried to install XP SP1. Made a streamlined SP3 install disk and it gave no more problems. Been using it for a few days and have had no issues. BIOS doesn't accurately recognise the correct timings of the OCZ memory even with the update, but it works.

Great Board

The first board would not boot up, ran all the different tests with no luck. Called Tiger, and within two days had a new board that has worked just great since. Will buy another later. eddie

Average board
Comment:
My second board booted first time out. I had to give up on OCZ memory, but Corsair memory worked fine. You can't remove or install memory on this board with a big video card installed in the top slot, the bottom clips are pinned by the card, major pain.

2nd time a charm
Comment:
My first board failed on start up. Tiger as usual had a no questions asked replacement out that day and the 2dn board is working without a hitch. I liked the board because it did not have embedded video and appears to be very configurable if overclocking is your cup of tea this is a board to consider.

This motherboard was actually pretty tricky, of all the problems I came across trying to build my first system was related to the motherboard, but I don't regret buying it learned a lot and its an awesome motherboard overall.

I've RMA'd the 2nd of these boards and concluded this board is not ready for prime-time distribution. Along the way with the 1st board, I had video and RAM misery stories. First thing after I'd mounted and connected the 2nd board, I began to flash the BIOS with the latest bootable version. Immediately upon 1st boot, I noticed the video was just horrible horizontal lines. After a successful flash and reboot, the lines were still there. This was with the same Nvidia card that had performed flawlessly with the original board. When I went into the RAM settings to input the correct 1.75 voltage and 1333 speed for the OCZ RAM recommended by the Tigerdirect salesman, the board would no longer boot. It would only respond when I set the speed and voltage back to the board defaults of 1.5v and 1066. It still would not boot into the Vista install. I'm done with this board, going back to Asus.

I recently bought one of these motherboards and after some trial and error got it to start up just fine. Even though it will run at 1333MHZ, the memory voltage is set at the factory at 1.5V. I assembled it with 2, 2 GIG sticks of OCZ Reaper 1333MHZ @1.75V and it would not post. After checking out the Intel website, I bought a cheap stick of Kingston 1.5V 1066 ram that Intel had tested with this board and it woke right up. It was then just a matter of going into the BIOS, changing the voltage and speed to 1.75V, 1333MHZ, and it rebooted just fine with the OCZ ram. Another thing, make sure you use a PCI Express video card as a regular PCI card will not give you any video when you first start it up.

Solid board for building Quad Core gaming computers. Easy to install and configure. Unlike many - didn't have to flash BIOS. RAID setup utility flashed into BIOS - didn't need included diskette (3.5!!! which the mb will only support with an external USB drive). The documentation in the box is a bit lacking. Everything was readily available at Intel.com. Overall a good board for the money.

Going in not aware of any issues. I was able to set everything up with only 1 minor issue. I had trouble installing Vista 64bit; because in the BIOS the hard drive was set to IDE instead of RAID; (which is crazy; b/c there aren't any IDE connectors on this board) after changing this - install successful. Everything working fine - until I realized the RAM was only running at 1066mhz; Am pretty techie; (without researching)I fixed it and now it doesn't boot like many other people having this issue. The wonderful people at TigerDirect are sending me a new board; FYI - update the BIOS before making changes to fix the memory issue.

Going in knowing there was some issues, I also knew others had it right. I can't say for Vista, but for XP PRO users, this board will not work without a Service Pack 3 OS CD. My copy was the original XP PRO. As soon as I used the current OS, I was able to load all the drivers and everything worked as a charm including 4 GB OCZ DDR3 PC10600. Also you should do the latest bios update 12/08. What really sucks is Microsoft or Intel not letting you know that SP3 OS is needed. I would of saved hours of fruitless BS . Other than that, It's a great setup. DDR3 seems new so research. The next one will be easy....

This seems like a nice enough design, but I can't give it more than a 1, because I have been without a motherboard for several weeks now, and won't see a replacement for several more. I was unable to load audio drivers on the board. Intel tech support indicated that the motherboard was at fault and offered to replace it two weeks ago. They said they had replacements in stock. Since I had bought the motherboard at a good discount as part of barebones kit, I elected to send it to Intel for a replacement instead of returning to to Tiger for credit. Big mistake. When they received the motherboard, Intel told me it was backordered (there seem to be plenty available to ship to retailers though). I called and they told me it wouldn't ship for at least a week and a half. They just added another week to that estimate. In all, I will be waiting over a month for a replacement if it ships on the estimated date, and I have $800 in parts sitting in boxes and no motherboard to connect them to.

I've been using this board for well over a month now. I had occasional problems overclocking it as it wasn't fully supported, and IDCC is still under development for the board (expected release date March '09). But an excellent support community at www.abxzone.com helped overcome any problems. I am now successfully overclocking with the latest 0108 BIOS. My system specs are: Q6600 @ 3.0 GHz | DP45SG | 4GB Kingston 1333MHz DDR3 | 2x Palit Radeon HD 4850 512 MB in CrossfireX | 300 GB WD VelociRaptor HD | 500 GB WD Caviar HD | 650W CoolerMaster eXtreme power supply | CoolerMaster Elite 330 Black Case | ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme processor heat sink You can find the user support thread here: http://www.abxzone.com/forums/f41/intel-dp45sg-skyburg-113330.html The overclocking thread is here: http://www.abxzone.com/forums/f41/overclocking-intel-dp45sg-114501.html With the release of IDCC this board will be feature complete.

Very nice board. The value is well worth the price. I recommend this board to anyone who is looking for a moderately upgradeable MB without too much desire to overclock it. It is super fast and extremely stable without overclocking so it suits my needs. I am completely satisfied.

I also used the OCZ RAM that's apparently giving people problems, but there was no issue at all for me. I already knew that the MoBo ran at 1.5 volts and that the RAM required 1.7. So the first time you boot it up just change the RAM voltage in the BIOS to 1.7. Problem solved. (You might want to change the timing as well, the most correct info is on OCZ's website.) The only ''issue'' I had was that I had to manually install the ethernet adapter driver from the CD that came with it. No complaints so far.

got this as part of a barebones kit with an ocz 2gig kit. cant get this board to even post (no video or beep from mobo) because it has an older bios from intel. I did check intel and they have an update released on 12.10.08 which support OCZ ram AND 1.7v ram which is what the OCZ's are. I was able to get it to boot once with only a single stick and then it failed to boot every again. be sure that you purchase 1.5 volt ram. other than that, dont like it and will probably RMA the whole barebones kit tomorrow, sad part is having to take it all apart!!! *ANGRY*

So far so good. Easy to set up and is running great. I don't overclock or anything like that so I can't comment on the stability. Love the amount of SATA connections and the onboard sound is pretty decent. Doens't seem to be any space issues with the PCIe card and the RAM.
