-Imbedded Intel HD graphics this is great if you have or will purchase an H67 chipset motherboard.-8Mb of L3 is excellent-You can tweak this beast to run a bit more quickly than three.40GHz but unless you know what you are undertaking it is not suggested, may well result in an unstable technique-four cores operating ʃ.4GHz with a 3.7GHz turbo increase tends to make this processor alone very rapid-Hyperthreading if four cores operating ʃ.4GHz wasn't sufficient you still have this incredible function that makes it possible for greater ease with multi-threaded applications virtually like operating an additional four cores. Other than the truth that it is not unlocked, can't think of none, but if you need to have to overclock spend an additional 20-30 bucks and get the i7 2600k Please make sure that you do your analysis carefully and make certain that this is the processor that suits your requires. This is a wonderful processor for the funds you pay and is very rapid as is. This processor is additional for a high performance Pc, if you are an overclocking fiend or enthusiast than possibly the 2600k is for you.My Setup:Asus Maximus IV ExtremeIntel Core i7-2600EVGA GeForce GTX SE (Fermi) 1Gb 256bitG.Ability Ripjaws X-series 8Gb ƒX's 4Gb)Rosewill Bronze series 1000WEssential SSD for OS Western Digital Caviar Blue 640 for StorageI know, I am not an enthusiast nor devote hours on finish overclocking but I nonetheless bought the Asus Maximus IV Extreme simply because it is a fantastic board.

I have a quite high bias toward AMD, but they have faltered more than the years and Thuban was a disappointment. I thought I would attempt out the i7 2600, but I believed I would possibly not see considerably of a distinction among it and the Phenom II 965.I was wrong. My guess is that the general performance is about 30 percent quicker, but the efficiency at multi-tasking appears to be at least twice as excellent. I had to purchase a completely new system. The Sandy Bridge memory controller is extremely sensitive to voltage and you need to only use qualified and high grade memory. Hopefully, bulldozer will come out in June and supply some real competition for the Sandy platform. Until then I will be on an Intel system.

8 MB L3 CacheIntel HD Graphics 2000 engineQuad Core with Hyper-threading Ƙ threads)Same heatsink mounting hole configuration as the 1156 socketRuns cool (Zalman CNPS9900 / Arctic Silver 5)Very low (almost non-existent) CPU usage at IdlePlenty of multiplier flexibility, despite getting an unlocked processor None. I bought this for my HTPC to use hyper-threading with video transcoding. It doesn't break a sweat. Because I seldom play games, there wasn't a need to have for the i7-2600k unlocked processor. If you don't need to have hyper-threading, look at the i5-2300, 2400, 2400S, 2500 or 2500k. The i7-2600 and i7-2600S use the Intel HD Graphics 2000 engine. The i7-2600k makes use of the Intel HD Graphics 3000 engine.Paired with the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3 motherboard, BIOS version F5, the CPU multiplier can be altered from a minimal of 16 to a maximum of 42.Name breakdown:two = Second generation400, 500, 600 = SKUK = Unlocked desktop processors permitting overclocking.S = Desktop processors with the TDP lowered to 65 W.They've accomplished it once again. This will no doubt be an additional terrific processor.

Rapid and simple to install! Runs a 7.7 in windows knowledge! A small pricey but definatly far better than the I7 extreme Wish I would have payed a small more attention and got the 2600K instead of the 2600. All the K implies is that it is overclockable!

Cons:None.

Pros:Fast, hyperthreaded quad core, power and heat efficient, Intel quality.
Comment:
Got this non-K 2600 on special (no interest in overclocking), it's a little pricy and honestly you should probably go with the 2500 that an hundred dollars cheaper, but I really wanted the hyperthreading feature. It's a speed demon, runs relatively cool for a quad core chip, and added bonus the included heat sink is a low-profile one that will fit in a HTPC box (eventually).

This new i7 has extremely robust ability in dealing with multiple threads computation. I run a multi-thread kmeans clustering plan on X6 1055T and this i7. The X6 1055T desires on typical 800 seconds to finish a loop of clustering (can only making use of five threads, making use of 6 threads will be even slower than 5 threads, so I feel the X6 cpu can\'t deal with multi-threads computation efficiently). This new i7 is suprising in that using 6 threads, it only needs 270s to finish a loop. Despite the fact that it has only four core, but I think the HT may well genuinely be useful approaches. absolutely nothing, essentially it's great

I'm stepping up from an Athlon 64 3200+, so this is a massive step-up. I've been waiting for this architecture for some time, upgrade is nicely worth it. Installed in a Gigabyte P67 board and it works nicely with DDR3 2133 RAM. N/A Scored a 7.6 on the Windows 7 rating, which I recognize to be a good factor.

Very first of all this a humongous leap in performance from a Q8400 Quad. I needed a stable machine for a vm and net server and net developement, nonetheless play some high end games in my off time. This processor screams. Running two vm's, Net II and nonetheless able to play counterstrike all settings high and fast switch to desktop in the blink of an eye. All this at stock speeds and never broke 40CƖ hours). I do see a noticable improvement in overall performance in game play. Not a con genuinely. CPU does not OC, but i knew that when i bought it. Just wanted a solid performer that will be really reliable for 7ቴ operation. At 3.8 turbo why would you lol. I paired this with a P67 so I could run quicker memory. The memory will clock up fine with the multiplier. The extreme memory profile indetified my ram nicely. Two WD RE4 enterprise drives in raid. I am hoping for a 5 year replacement cycle on this machine.programWin 7 Ultimate24" BX2450 (sweet monitorပ-260016gb ddr3 2000 (running at 1866, 8-8-8-24)ƒ) wd re4 500gb drives raid Ƒ) wd ITB black raid 1Gigabyte P67A-UD3antec 900620 watt bronse rosewillHD 6850 graphicsTechnique is cool, at wicked fast.

Fantastic CPU in all respects. What good is it if there are no working motherboards? What good are motherboards with inherent SATA II issues that will ultimately cook your drives? Thankfully, the new motherboards need to hit the streets in the next week or two...possibly.Still, a wonderful CPU...if you can get a motherboard.Get real people today, it doesn't matter if the CPU is unusable mainly because the CPU is poor or simply because the motherboards are baf...it only matters if you can use it.

Use this in my build to replace a p4 2.66 system. I was so out of date I cannot really compare this but man is it fast. Install went really well. Running at stock speeds my average temps are about 30C idle which is decent. Very happy with this CPU.

BEWARE : it came with the old Intel HSF while, as far as I know, the i7-2600K comes with the newer "tower-style" HSF. This is quite an issue as I have mine running at about 35°C when idling but up to 80°C under load (I replaced Intel's thermal paste for some AS5). Only for this reason, I would have chosen the K version instead. Other than that, I won't teach you anything new here : this non-K version is intended for people who doesn't plan to overclock their CPU. In fact, mine will end up in a server. Scored 0.1 less than Windows' maximum performance score. Hahah.

Upgraded from an Intel Q6600, if you are looking for the latest this is it. Only downfall of course is the sandy bridge mess right now but that does not affect the cpu. Used my Thermaright Ultra 120 with this cpu and runs at about 33.
