Iogear GFR281 56-in-1 Card Reader and Writer
Comment:
Cheap, vast array of media card capability. Rubberized bottom coating for much better "grip" on a surface. No activity light; a glaring oversight, which lowered my rating to four stars. This would be handy to confirm that a card has been inserted appropriately (green light continual "on") and blinking when studying or writing information. There are so several orientation possibilities (card insertion) that seeing the icon seem in "computer" drive listings is the finest way to know it is inserted correctly. Download the icon computer software from iogear.com and install it. It is not integrated with the reader/writer. Hold the quickstart manual handy, as you'll want it for card orientation guidelines. The reader/writer has worked on all ƕ) of my computers devoid of a problem. Overall, a excellent price tag/product. Can't beat cost-free shipping either.

None if it doesn't operate It doesn't work Purchased this reader simply because it is advertised to study so quite a few formats and cards, particularly mico SD (without adapters), SD, and Olympus cards.Plugged in and booted up as in directions. Windows 2K pro refused to recognize device and load drivers. There is no excuse for a USB device not to just plug in and function. Period. Iomega tech help was friendly, but had to admit the device was undesirable mainly because it really should have been recognized by Win 2K no difficulty. Now I have to waste time RMA'ing this back to NewEgg. Manufacturer Response:Dear Sir or Madam,I am sorry to learn that you had got a undesirable unit, please let me know if you have any further difficulty with the RMA approach or the new replacement. My e mail is rliang@iogear.com and please let me know if you need to have further assistance. Thank you.Ideal Regards,Richard Liang

Comment:
Quickly, easy to use no troubles whatsoever. Only point is that I wish that the mini-usb B would be on the side instead of the back so I can put the reader against a thing (Monitor), but that's just little design and style stuff that doesn't warrant losing an egg. One reviewer pointed out that they did not like the reality there was no activity light. Although I would typically agree, I didn't' even notice that it didn't have a single till he stated it. Reason is since the computer software I use to download the images from my card tells me when tis carried out, so there is no need to have IMO.At present downloading at ӱ MB/s with a CF card rated at 15 MB/sSpecs: Laptop with windows XP

Works as expected. I have 4GB and 8GB Kingston SD cards. I also have some Compact Flash cards and anything has worked. It could use an access light, but other than that, I haven't found any problems.

Pretty small, looks fine on the desk, worked immediately in Ubuntu 8.ten.I tried it with SD, micro SD, and Olympus xD. I adore that it has a micro SD reader built in, no additional worrying about adapters.xD and SD mounted simultaneously. Micro SD and SD do not mount simultaneously. I assume they are in parallel.

Works great on mac, no driver installs at all. The cards mount and unmount perfectly fine. I used it to make bootable SD cards for rooting and fiddling with a nook. Worked perfectly for that. I'm still attempting to figure out what the 56-in-one deal. Are there truly 56 various types of memory cards?

Quick reader. The downloaded software replaces drive icons with memory card icons in "My Personal computer". The initially unit displayed "USB Device Not Recognized" when I plugged it in. I had to RMA it to get a working model. NewEgg must pay postage on defective item returns.

Works with Vista 64. So far tested with CF type 2 and Memory Stick cards. Appears properly designed and even has a picture on the back to indicate which slot every sort of memory card goes in creating it a no brainer. This external configuration make the device portable so you can move it from desktop to laptop when the require arises. Perfer this interface to the internal bay which takes up a motherboard USB port. Most desktop computers come with external USB connections producing this device the perfered choice. The only con is that Vista 64 windows explorer will not recognoze the drive letter/type of memory inserted into the slot even soon after installing the driver software program. But it wasn't hard to figure out which drive contained the memory card in order to download the files to the challenging drive.

Compact, Sleek style, convenient map on bottom, option to stow without cable attached. common mini usb cable provided. most cards appear to plug in pretty effectively.Superior with micro SD 8gb phone card Tried two separate 4GB Kingston Cards (Compact Flash) and this factor no like them AT ALL. 1st Card; Slow to read then read failed /crashed method three times. particularly if the card happened to be empty but in this case the card had 128 pix on it. 2nd card; system non responding / lockup mode until unplug usb then system returned instantly. No dilemma with other makes of 4GB Compact Flash cards. I think it is the cheap cards (ฝ for a 4GB) I will see about altering the assessment on those cards. Fair for the cost i got plus free of charge shipping.beware of the inexpensive cards you see. they could not perform nicely in some readers..... as i have located,..I believe it is the cheap cards (ฝ for a 4GB) I will see about changing the assessment on those cards.

I'm having trouble with this one
Comment:
It definitly does not work with Windows 7 which was the whole purpose in purchasing it and will take considerable work to get it to work with Windows XP if that is even possible. I'm not ready to return it yet but have to put time aside to spend to see if I can get it to work at all.
