The brushed aluminum enclosure makes this look like a seriously high-end product, and it is.

Product performed as advertised. Fast data transfer and plenty of storage space. However, the manufacturer offers no password protection or encryption software to access the drive, so you may pay up to 30 bucks to order second vendor stuff on the internet or shop around for the free stuff and hope it works. The data cord is somewhat short and barely makes it from the top of my desk to a port on my tower on the floor and you can't use an extension or it does not work. I am having trouble finding a carrying case that fits the drive. Also the power plug is fairly bulky and takes up a large space around my AC outlet and seems difficult to pack up since it is wider than the thickness of the drive. The drive itself is fine, but these accessory issue detract somewhat.

Best deal you can find. I have never found an external hard drive that is as fast as this one. Also its pretty silent. This is the answer to your problems!

Loaded all my movies, TV shows, music, music videos and karaoke onto this drive. All of it streams with no issues and it very quickly moves from the desktop to the laptop. No complaints, excellent buy on a quality product with a great name standing behind it.

I bought my first external for around a hundred bucks and that was a whopping 80 gigs. This is around the same price and obviously offers more than 12 times that so it seems to be a great value. The ONLY bad thing I can say is that the cradle that holds the hard drive is not the way it looks in the picture. It shows it looking like the rest of the metal construct of the device but it is actually a grey piece of plastic that looks nothing like the sleek and metallic design of the actual hard drive. I have had it for a month with no problems thus far. It's great having enough space for all the movies and pictures you can possibly collect and I hope that it will be something that will last long term. All my other externals are still kicking years later but this is the first time using Iomega so we will see.

I ordered two Iomega Prestige 1TB drives for my two sons. They use laptops and are into gaming and my oldest boy does a lot of photo, video editing as a hobby and maybe a potential career. The large 1TB drives allows them to save their work and was a less expensive alternative to purchasing new dell laptop internal drives which for their laptops only are available up to 320 MB.

Maybe I just got a bad one, but it failed within 8 hours of purchase. Formatted OK and was in the process of transferring about 500GB of files to it when it started making a screeching noise like someone was dragging a nail across the disc and I could no longer access it. Tried everything I could think of short of opening up the enclosure and voiding the warranty and simply couldn't access anything on it again.
