No Problems
Comment:
We had recently bought an Iomega 500gig for my wifes laptop and it worked great. This 1TB I use for my desktop. We both have XP and the drives plugged in and showed up no problem. After 1 year with the first one and 2 months with my new one we could not be happier.

Good price but unsure of quality of hard drive
Comment:
We ordered 7 of these and out of the seven, 4 of them had a ticking noise when they were plugged in and in use. Your company replaced the defective hard drives but now wondering on the quality of the others. I guess time will tell on the quality

I needed a larger backup drive for my data, pictures, music. It came formated, 931 gigs for under hundred bucks.

Old Standby
Comment:
Purchased 1.26.2010 First extrenal hard drive I have owned. Chose it because I have had iomega products in the past and found them reliable and durable. Took me a bit to get the hang of changing the permissions so that I could actually use the files I saved to the external drive. Once you get the hang of it it's a piece of cake. Transfer all files to the external HD so that changing to a new computer would be easier. Added benefit is having everything saved on a drive that won't be affected by a system crash (however unlikely). So far so good.

Great Ext. HDD, Great Price
Comment:
I purchased this to use for an external storage device for my PS3 and after formatting it in FAT32 (using WD software), it works great. I can transfer media from my PC to it and play it on my PS3. Fast transfer speeds and not too bulky.

Well Worth the Investment
Comment:
While I co-locate all my persistent data, this device can hold the equivalent of 500 4 drawer file cabinets if scanned. There is no wiser investemnt for local storage and backup than this drive. GET ONE!

very happy
Comment:
Fast enough, handles data well. I have even done a few more elaborate manipulations. I own the 500 gigabyte little brother. I have never needed to concern myself with either of them. I cannot tell the big one from the little one as far as the speed.

Unreliable Hard Drive
Comment:
I've had this drive for just over a year and it's failed on me once every two months. After looking at the reviews I feel lucky that I've been able to retrieve my data where so many others have not. Bottom line: Do your future self a favor and purchase a different brand of hard disk. $20, $50, $100 of savings today is not worth any amount of irretrievable data in the future. Also - from what I've read, IOMEGA's customer service is abominable. Let's all do ourselves a favor and spend our money with companies that actually care about their relationships with their customers. Good luck!

Exceptional Product
Comment:
The hard drive is fast enough for just about any user. Handles large data transfers very well and for the four months I have had it it has never froze or done anything other than what it's supposed to do. So far it has never gotten very hot at all and overall is terrific. I give three thumbs up and if you looking for a deal the dollar amount per gig is a lot better than most everything else

A Very good Ext.HDD for the money
Comment:
Only had for a few weeks but I use it between 2 pcs and a laptop. Set up File structure for each system and copy and or swap files to each system just by ejecting the USB and plugging it in to another system. A heavy unit that has worked very well with no problems so far. Faster than I would have thought. Nice long usb cord

Iomega Drive works most of the time
Comment:
I have owned and used this drive for several months now and for the most part, it has worked fine. Several times, I've had to re-boot the drive in order to have the Desktop see it. I would repurchase it...

great drive in a solid case
Comment:
So far so good. I was researching external hard drives. this one got the best review and had the best storage for the money. I must say I am not disappointed. comes with base stand, external power cable and USB 2.0 connection cable. My favorite part is the smooth metal case. It adds some weight to the unit so it might make it less desirable if you plan to travel with it (in your laptop bag) but I keep mine connected to a desktop.

Great Product
Comment:
I ordered two external hards as Christmas gifts for my children, my son laptop continues to crash and the lost of information was getting crazy, my daughters computer needed more virtual memory and I thought it made more sense to move programs and folders from the hard drive. The set-up was easy, and no problems transferring files. I would recommend this product to my co-workers.

Not what I expected but is working
Comment:
I thought it would just automatically back up my PC but it had to be done manually and if one has multiple PCs your files will be all over so I am not pleased with this but it does have enough room to back up my DVD collection so it was worth the money.

Working Great So Far!
Comment:
I bought this drive to replace one from a different brand that failed. Installation was simple and it has been working quietly and well for about a month now. I do wish the data cord was a few inches longer . . it just barely had enough length to set the drive where I wanted it . . . but that's a small, one-point deduction on this review. Now, time will tell! If it keeps on working as well as it does, I'll be a happy camper!

DRIVE FAILED AFTER 3 MONTHS
Comment:
Turned on one morning drive just makes clicking noise, computer does not see drive. Iomega will not try and retrieve anything for you, just replace with same drive (which I don't want another one of the same drives), so unless you have things backup in at least three places you can never feel like your files are safe on one external drive.
