Price and size. Item delivered was different than pictured. Delivered solution was blue with both three.five" and two.5" IDE ports. Could not get to operate on Windows 7 with 400GB IDE Maxtor drive.

Operates fantastic, read all my Desktop tricky drives no difficulty. IDE for two.five didn't perform at all. Fantastic product just most likely got a faulty a single.For the value would get once again if required.

Low-cost, and it performs really well. U just have to screw around with jumper settings quite a bit, specifically for older samsung drives. I've utilised this so far for two 80GB drives that are about 3 years old give or take and it functions. manual is in Engrish, its so funny i virtually place it in as a pro. Also teh usb line is mighty brief. this is all minor troubles for ten bucks you can't go incorrect. also the fact that it supports laptop drives is a large plus.

Just functions. No frills. Feels and looks low-cost. Instructions are horrible and the CD that comes with it is useless and confusing. Shoulda provided it 4 eggs, but it's so horribly place with each other and low cost. It operates so if you will need one thing like this definitely get it, but dont anticipate anything fairly. none Unit was not recognized by my computer system. Keep wanting to be conected to usb2 but it was currently connected. Tried on three diverse computers with the identical outcome. Super effortless to use - no brainer. None I was able to search 13 tough drives, wipe them, reformat as necessary & even recover data I thought was gone forever from 1 that a typical Pc wouldn't read at all.

It does precisely as it's supposed to do. The energy provide gets pretty hot...I assumed this would come about although. I appear to have received a different item than shown, but it performs the job nicely and is a nice clear blue color ;)The item I received has two different sized IDE (one on each size), whereas the item shown in the images only has 1 IDE.I had a difficulty working with an optical drive beneath RawDump, it would detect the drive (which is compatible) but it would then say the drive was faulty. This didn't occur when I utilised an IDE cable with the drive. I did not have this problem with Friidump although. So I suspect this to be a difficulty with RawDump.

It's cheap, but worthless... Drivers don't function with osx. disk won't fit into loader. Causes mini to not boot up when plugged in (even when the DVD writer I have hooked up is turned off). Need to have to unplug this to eject mini's DVD player (doesn't recognize my internal DVD player if plugged in). No tech support, no drivers to download, no joy... I can get this to perform if I connect it following boot up.But to regain my internal DVD player on my mini, I've got to unplug this issue and reboot my mini.Not cool.

Low cost, easy. I required a way to access some older drives. This is a good remedy. XP recognized the drives devoid of installing drivers. No cons Have the drive on cable select worked.

XP sp3 had no difficulty noticing my challenging drive. I haven't checked transfers speeds but it's undertaking pretty very good. The usb cable is very short. The pins for the power provide look really poorly casted. The wall socket pins are fine. I would just check for slag on the roughly casted pins to be safe from a brief/fire.

- It worked as it was supposed to, gave me some additional backup tough drives just in case.- Was fast sufficient, desirable speed, and ideal consistency.- I'll by no means get rid of it.- Wonderful for tech support also, I'm in a position to make more $$ simply because of this investment.- Really should be greater in price to be honest. - Doesn't guard against faulty challenging drives.- Needs to be plugged into a surge protector at all times, or you could threat information loss (random shorts.) Works Wonderful! plugged it in as soon as I got it, and every thing worked— and at lightning speeds, I may well add. Energy connector was difficult to insert into HDD at initially, but it got much easier as I replugged it a couple of occasions. Mine looked absolutely nothing like what is in the image. Strange, don't know why. It's the same corporation and every thing, I guess Newegg just hasn't updated the picture for a although. Also, don\'t forget to plug everything in the order given in the directions, which, as stated in other critiques, features some amusing grammar errors.

This device is so effortless to use. it beats the beans out of having to open my entire case to install a new drive. With my geek-for-employ company, i get alot of clients needing information off of old tough drives. Banking information, private files, photos, whatever. Much more frequently than not, they're from dead PCs, so i had to move the drive to access the requested information. Ahead of i had this factor, i had to open the PC case, check the drives, unplug the ribbons, install the drive, plug everything back in, fire up the pc, understand the jumpers are wrong, unplug the drive, change the jumper, install the drive, get a blank screen again, take away the drive, attempt a different jumper setting......so you see my dilemma? Now i don't have to be concerned about that anymore. And simply because it's USB and so smaller, i can take it with me TO THE JOB! i don't have to bring hardware back to the office anymore! i can just use the client's own PC for the operation! i just plug 'er in and commence copying! i don't have to mess about with ribbon and jumpers anymore, so what took me 2 hours before only takes me 20 seconds now. it's handy, but fewer hours on the job means fewer dollars in my pocket. BUT, i'm not complaining. Swapping drives was the process i hated the most. This specific model doesn't assistance floppy as the illustration suggests on the box. Works effectively with newer hard drives. Appears to function (mostly) as advertised. three.5 inch challenging drives can be powered by way of USB. The manual is an amusing read. It appears to function nicely. On 1 side is a connector for two.5" drives. The USB port does not appear to put out adequate power for those drives to function, so I have to use the three.five" side and a 3.5" to 2.five" adapter, with the energy supply. Also, make confident the drive you are using it with is set to master, not slave, or the adapter will not function.

Worked w/o having to fiddle with anything. Strong build. Nothing actually bad about this so far. The user manual is a tiny piece of paper. It offers all pertinent information, but is a bit lacking in details. Also the cable reminds me of a game boy color cable I had. Don't know why...
