Sure liked the idea of ide or sata drives. Unfortunately, I too have had some delayed write failures. Seems to be related to the system usb and drivers tho. I have had it work perfectly on some systems and not on others. Ya take your chances. Like the quick assemble/disassemble.

I Give This a 1 Star.. Pretty Wack... Purchases & About A Week Later The Damn Thing Wouldnt Read Any Of My Drives.. Poorly Built Case... I Have To Give The Power Cord A Lil Movement For The Damn Thing 2 Power Up... Really Sucks... Dont Recommend.

Almost 2 years passed since I bought it. In a few words - it still works. But: to get best performance it needs to be ''warmed'' like an old B/W CRT lamp TV. Unless it can easily ''freeze'' and show ''delayed write failure''. Also doesn't work with partitioned drives - need to install drive into case, merge and then insert into device. Connection speed is great, no overheating ever. Easy to work, but ... not recommended.

Great case. I had another one but wasn't happy with it so when I bought another drive to create a backup, I tried this case. Works great. Easy to disassemble and reassemble. Easy set up and works great for both types of drives. A definite must have.

I work with all systems and hard drives and feel this is a good deal for the money. I had no problems with anything, so I guess you just need to know computers and drives to make it work correctly. I would recommend it to anyone who needs both drive type capabilties.

Got one of these awhile back and and I'm pretty disappointed. I can deal with the clumsy construction, but I can't deal with getting ''Delayed Write Failed'' errors on 2 consecutive drives. There must be a bad connection in it somewhere. Not recommended.

The screws that hold the case together appear to be the wrong size or something. I had to get some machine screws from the hardware store to fasten the case together.

Simple straight-forward design, no cooling fan required as there is plenty of venting available, support for both IDE and SATA, lots of space for mounting drives, cables of sufficient length so no struggles to install. I did not have the problems of pins coming out as jfusco did (see review) but agree that connector is hard to remove. Manual is not the best english (translation is not so good, but for the price...), however isn't really required if you have done any hard drive upgrading at all. Very happy with enclosure and would buy another one if the need arose.

I purchased this enclosure to be able to test drives. The dual-interface design was the big selling point as I'm never sure what type of drive I'll need to test and it saved me from having to buy two enclosures. Pros: Low price, all-metal case, dual-interface, on/off switch, plenty of room for the drive (easy installation), thumb screws to secure drive in enclosure. Cons: The power connectors are flimsy. The IDE molex connector was VERY hard to remove from the drive and the pins actually pulled out when I tried (I was able to push them back in). Also, it is USB only so no firewire (not a problem for me right now).

Good quality product with plenty of space for the HD. Easy and fast assembly (5 min max). I am formatting the drive as we speak, I don't anticipate any problems. The manual is a bit on a sketchy side, so if you are not computer-savvy, don't do it yourself (but this would probably apply to any HD enclosure anyway). Delivery was very fast. I am very satisfied.
