Effectively.. anything? SATA III, USB 3., Incredible overclocking prospective, AM3 CPU support, DDR3 help, Capability to run dual GPUs at 16x every (this is a Large pro for me). The built in LED status lights and BIOS debug indicators give you an concept what the board is undertaking if you must ever encounter a issue. Also, the on-board audio is substantially much better than that of other boards I've observed. The PCIe slots are configured in a weird way. That is only to say, with my dual Radeon 6870's, I only have one particular open expansion slot operating at 4x. The 1x and PCI slots are covered by the cards, and the other two complete sized PCIe slots are non-functional with this setup. I know that the size of the video cards is partly to blame, but still, it'd be good to have much more than one particular open expansion slot. I listed the PCIe situation as a con only in hopes of supplying insight to other purchasers. To me, it's not a con large adequate to warrant losing an egg. |

board looks soild its has post but heres were the issue is no windows 7 trim help on the 6gbs drives. has passed most testing seems to perform other than the situation at hand ! windows 7 support dosent perform for the c300 ssd i bought with the board. i have reinstalled 7 instances following a clean set up of windows 7. when i referred to as msi support asking for help i explained what was taking place. the frist reply out of the tek was ( what is windows 7 trim help ? ) theres a couple of factors i am going to attempt on my own to see if i can get it to work but it may well just get sent back for a rma. dont anticipate any assistance from msi help ! the manual and information sent with the board is a joke ! i have usually utilised Asus boards never ever ran into this issue. i tought i would give MSI a attempt but i belive at this point its was a major mistake !!! Fantastic board and to the MOSFET Fry club or whatever, you require to update the BIOS, particularly if you are going to overclock! There was a thing with the original BIOS that didn't distribute the voltages accurately and fried the boards. I've been running my 6 core, water cooled, at 3.8GHz for months with no problem and I had it as high as four.2GHz with no difficulty. The only issue I see with this board and to me it's a huge one. I'm operating two vid cards Crossfire and the only way to run it is one particular card in slot 1 and a single in slot five. The one and only PCIe X1 slot is absolutely blocked and unusable and the 1 and only PCI slot is blocked and unusable and I have water blocks on the cards which tends to make them thinner however. I have two Asus Xonar sound cards, one particular PCI and one particular PCIe X1 and I can't use either a single and I have tow AverMedia television tuner cards and I can't use either one of those. I have a five.1 surround sound process I can't hook up to have superior sound and I can't watch television on this laptop or computer which I like to do now and then and use it for a DVR as well. Even if you only have 1 vid card installed it blocks the PCIe X1 slot. If you are going to spend this substantially for a board, you shouldn't have to make sacrifices on what you can use and what you can't. Sure, it's a monster performance board for those that know what they are undertaking but hey, widespread.... a single PCI and one X1 and you can't use either 1??? Why ever place them on the board???? I'm glad I got this board as a gift as an alternative of purchasing it. |

I've been constructing for 12 years, A+ certified, blah blah blah, I've been loyal to MSI for 12 years, built servers on desktop boards that have taken 1 million uniques a month with no hickups and so forth, when I decided to obtain this board for my personal program I had high expectations and this board exceeded those expectations. It's an overclockers dream, it's fast, it's stable, it supports every single am3 there is, it has more than adequate onboard hookups than you need and then they send along a pci slot high speed usb port with 2 much more hookups and a pci firewire hookup as effectively. If you want the very best of the finest when it comes to a gaming board or for benching overclocks don't waste your money on a name, obtain this board, in 12 years MSI has under no circumstances let me down, I've under no circumstances had a board returned to me from a buyer. The people on this overview board that complain about MSI, I seriously have to question what is going on, perhaps they are overvolting the board and then blaming MSI when they screw up. not a single single con to finish my above statement, I think alot of men and women think they know what they are undertaking but truly don't simply because if in 12 years working with nothing but MSI I haven't had a customer complaint or return that says alot and if MSI had as quite a few bad boards as people claim on this review board they wouldn't be able to afford to remain in business with the quantity of RMA's it would take to keep up so that says one thing to. MSI is a solid corporation, they sell a solid item designed by competent engineers. I bet you all didn't know either that all these corporations have their boards built by Foxconn did you. The engineers design the boards and send the blueprints to Foxconn and have them built. I didn't know this either until recently when I was watching a tech video and they made this point. But back to my main point, unless the board truly goes up in smoke then most probably it's anything other than the board causing the difficulty and suitable trouble shooting would conserve alot of RMA's |

don't know, due to the fact it didn't operate. Highest Computer listed it as the current ideal socket AM3 board. DOA, refused to POST. The only LEDs that lit were for the memory, which indicated it was in dual channel mode (iirc). The on-board numerical troubleshooting display didn't function at all. Executing as many of MSI's generic troubleshooting procedures as achievable (minimum install with one memory stick, checking jumpers, and so on) didn't change the scenario. And when I submitted an online tech-help request, all MSI did was reiterate their list of generic troubleshooting procedures! I don't care if the replacement board cures cancer, brings about globe piece, and tends to make me a sandwich, tech help like that deserves ZERO eggs! (note: I'm posting this from a library computer lab open to the public.)This was meant to be a replacement for a 5-year-old socket 939 board that blew a capacitor. Which meant new RAM, new CPU no matter what. I also had to get Win7 since the old computer was employing an OEM version of WinXP. Which also meant I couldn't "insert recognized operating components" mainly because I *didn't* *have* *any* that fit the board. Also, MSI's on the web form lists BIOS version as a needed piece of information. I have a board that won't POST. The only way to get the BIOS version is to get the board to POST. See the issue? What started out as becoming an inconvenient four days with no a pc is turning into a major two-three week outage. I purchased this board simply because of the Optimum Pc endorsement and the high New Egg rating. In 20ተ hindsight nearly *any* socket AM3 board would have met my needs just fine. And if the replacement board doesn't work, I'm grabbing a <贄 mobo and writing off MSI forev Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued MSI Client,We would like to apologize for the challenge you have knowledgeable with this certain mb. Lots of attributes, straightforward to install if you know what your undertaking. None nevertheless. I see a couple of men and women having troubles getting the FF code. I got this code also until I realized I didn't have the eight-pin energy connector connected to the board. Make positive you have this connected and make sure you have a psu that can help the energy this board demands. Once I connected the eight-pin it booted up no dilemma. |

Wish the 2nd 16x PCIE lane was in the 4th pci-e slot and not the 5th as it covers up the error LED display and HDD led on the board. Minor quibbles though. I got this board as an open box item. It's worked nicely for me. Don't know why it was returned, but I'm glad because I got this board for the value of a 790fxa board. The photos don't do this board justice. The northbridge and southbridge heatsinks appear gorgeous and would really set off a nice case with a window. I'd get this board yet again in a heartbeat. |

Consists of good hardware monitoring application. Supports two x16 PCI-e SIMULTANEOUSLY, and not “two" PCI-e x16, exactly where one particular is x16 and the other is x4. Tons of SATA and PCI-e ports. The diagnostic LED is just beneath one particular of the PCI-e ports, so if you have a GPU installed more than it, you won’t be capable to see the screen. OC Genie seems like a great idea, but it OCed my CPU to be really unstable. But then again ATM I am operating the cheapest CPU I could locate, and have an unlocked core. Drivers seem to work fine in Win 7 x64. Haven’t tried RAID although. Touch sensitive buttons on the board are convenient. |
