Really rapidlyLooks wonderfulLots of attributesStraightforward OC is good to use for a guideline when over clocking It is actually simple to believe you have a defective board as I did for the initial day. Ram does not easily set into the slots and you need to have to press it in with an quantity if force that make you be concerned about breaking this mobo.I was hoping that the automatic more than clocker would automatically OC for me with out any complications but when I run it it over clocks the north bridge to a level it warns me is risky. <- (shouldn't it know not to push its own chips this high?) soon after 1st posting a poor assessment on the first day i had it due to the ram concerns i am now really pleased with this product. I absolutely advise it. just be conscious that if you want to oc automatically you must assessment every issue in the BIOS to tends to make certain it didn't push any of you components also high. This is the develop it is in:mobo - MSI 890 FXACPU - AMD x4 965 black ed GPU - XFX Radeon 6870 Black edPSU - XFX 750w black ed RAM - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB ƒ x 2GB)HDD - WD caviar black 1TBOS - Windows 7 residence premium ࿠-bit)Case - Thermaltake Armor A90CPU cooler - Thermaltake Frio

Every little thing as advertised. Unlocked my Phenom II 550 BE to four cores; stable as hell immediately after operating for 4 days Prime95 OC'd (using the software program ControlCenter) at three.7 GHZ. Anything just operates! Dual GB NICs/eSATA/USB 3. and SATA 3 - was currently flashed with the newest BIOS firmware at the time I received it. Came with 3 SATA3ǜ. G cables in the box, saweet! Lastly got rid of my PCI Audigy X-Fi as I run a 7.1 speaker setup and have by no means identified a motherboard with on-board sound that could even come close to matching an actual soundcard for a 7.1 setup. This board shocked the hell outta me; the 7.1 sounds CRISP/HARD/FANTASTIC!! For my case (Coolermaster Storm Scout) there was lots of room for almost everything. I in fact Enjoy where they put the CPU power plug in at, as it was NOT on the edge of the board so it cleared my 120mm top-mounted cooling fan. A lot of space/clearance for comfort between my GTX 460 and the drive bays of the case. As other people stated, if I was employing a diverse case, I might be sorta bummed that all of the SATA ports are laying sideways and not straight up. For my case on the other hand, this worked out perfectly as it allowed a good SATA cable bundle to naturally peel out of the bundle channel of the case and plug right in. Soon after having to send my ASUS M4A79T Deluxe in 4 instances, yes Four occasions attempting to get an RMA replacement, I finally gave up with ASUS forever and purchased MSI. I will In no way look back!

Looks excellent. Runs wonderful. Tons of alternatives. Great job once more MSI. The BIOS alternatives are entertaining for overclocking which includes the core Unlocker. Plenty of ports for whatever you require. Incredibly easy to setup. When i initially purchased the board i i couldnt get the vid to work correct. This was fixed through new BIOS. Board has been ok although working but this morning i went to power on the board and it was dead. Tested with 2 unique PSU's and the very same thing. This board is a great board for beginners if they would like an simple way to OC. Bios is layed out good. Ive heard of a few individuals having probs with the board. Hopefully RMA process is speedy. Solid looking construction and effortless install. Good layout. Auto overclock does not work. BSOD each time I attempt and use it. Have to play with BIOS to get ram to operate at 1600 MHZ and did not read ram in dual channel till I upgraded to 8 GB and had all slots filled. Initially time system builder. I mentioned the OC Geanie...I did not in fact go in developing this system with the intent of OCing and definitely not tech savy adequate. I saw the feature for "auto overclock" and it produced me feel all warm and fuzzy. So I clicked it...negative idea. BSOD and had to flash BIOS a couple of instances. Break out the white gloves and prepare for an exceptional drive. This is the ear biting Mike Tyson of all AMD mother boards. Lots of ranting and raving about RAM and inability to Boot! I have stayed up late several nights reading and terrified of buying this extremely mother board. I seriously wanted a set of Vital Ballistix Ram just because they light up and dam it I've never had a set of those. Luckily for me they worked out great. 8 Gig of this stuff boots proper up BL2KIT25664TB1608. Purchased two 6850 H.I.S. iceq turbos and Crossfire is a single Rude Boy. Some have the misconception that any and all RAM ought to fit any and all boards thats like saying any and all people today at wal mart belong in your house at all times. Read take the time to go to the web site of the motherboard and uncover the recommened RAM so you can boot your program. Do you have any concept of how negative it suxz to save up and pull off a split toe ninja move of ordering a entire entire 1200 technique finally get everthing in the mail and then tinker around because you bought the wrong RAM only to have to wait and send it back or save up to order more? And on yet another note the purpose of acquiring higher clocked RAM is to raise the bar for you to OC. For instance if you purchase 1333 then guess what? You can only OC till you reach the max on that RAM which some do have higher tolerances or far better good quality. Now if you get higher rated RAM guess what? The tolerance for the OC increases. Go to the MSi internet site and locate the mother board this a single and read the qualified vendors h AMD 955 QuadAntec 6008 Gig Crucial RAM BL2KIT25664TB1608H.I.S. Solid contruction, onboard diagnostic tools, onboard power & reset buttons, and on board OC tools. A rather good fold out document for locating just about everything on the board like fan headers. The manual is useless, they spent so a lot time making sure it was in several languages that all of them suffer on content. The mother board like most has diagnostic "beep" codes however the manual doesn't include a decent list of what they mean. This board has two digit LED readout for diagnostic codes which would be a wonderful asset to method builders if it weren't for the reality that they only give you a incredibly tiny list of code definitions in the manual. All in all this manual is a waste of paper, for instance it tells you to start out with the RAM in slots 1 & two (pretty widespread) but their manual doesn't show in the mobo diagram which slots are 1 & two. Also the two outside ram slots (furthest from the CPU) had been so challenging to get the ram into I was afraid I may possibly damage the board. At the finish of the day we can talk about this bench mark or that bench mark, but what matters is that at the end of the day it just functions when all the gear is connected and to "P" switch is in the company postion, and this baord did for me. I had a ASUS Crosshair IV Formula that had so quite a few concerns that I just RMA'ed it and bought this 1 which worked out of the box. If your searching for a solid board that just plain works then this is a solid solution, if your seeking for lots of glam and fit / finish, you may possibly be much less than impressed.

- Great aesthetics - Supports Phenom II X6 processors out of the box- Will support AM3+ Bulldozer ships with firmware update - USB three. and SATA III Ɩ gb/s)- Excellent layout for the PCIe slots - My largest gripe is there aren't a whole lot of USB ports on this board. Only 5 USB 2. ports and a single combo eSata/USB two. ports, and two USB 3. ports. I genuinely would have preferred a combo PSǘ port and one more two. port, or just two far more USB two. ports. Although this is is easily remedied with an add on USB card, still inconvenient if you have a lot of USB devices fighting for space back there, or if you can't sacrifice a PCI/PCIe slot. Terrific board. Lots of overclocking potential, good list of features. Despite the fact that, given the lack of additional USB ports, I wouldn't pay the full 赨 for this one. Picked this one up on sale for 赔, which is a far cost for what you get.

Replaced my MSI K9N sli platinum that fried a northbridge. This board was every little thing I expected. Diagnostic LEDs are a great touch, and the other LEDs on the board match my case light colors (blue). Takes 4 GB sticks of RAM in stride. Board is incredibly excellent searching, and the DrMOS chipset and heatsinks are extremely cool searching and they idle about 20C and run complete bore at 48 C. Basically cooler than my Phenom II 956. I've been told this board should take AMDs bulldozer chips. A couple of persons have complained about this board coming with older versions of the BIOS, mine came with the most up to date version. Just a couple minor bugs. At times at shutdown the energy light stays on. I have to boot and shut down the machine again to get it to go off. On the second shut down I get an fascinating noise that is almost like a hiss for a split second before all the fans turn off. Also, it comes with MSI Autoboot program which is no longer to be found on their web site. It's totally worthless, will not boot the Pc for me at all. As for OCing, I've had no difficulties with stability, EXCEPT for working with "Control Center" to return to default settings though OS is running, then it locks up. Would be good if it supported the newest memory clocks, but I don't want it. The reality that I can trust this factor to run for hours when photo rendering without locking up or crashing entirely tends to make up for these minor short comings. Troy, don't stagger the RAM in the DIMM slots. it's not like DDR2, if you only have two sticks they go in DIMM1 and DIMM2, not DIMM 1 and DIMM3. Also, make sure you have mated RAM, and not individually bought sticks. RAM can be picky, and even two sticks from the similar corporation may not operate together. That's why you purchase them in two or four packs as the RAM organization has tested them to ensure they work together. You must also realize that this board doesn't support the fastest RAM clocks out there. So to everybody else who has RAM difficulty with this board, don't try to pin the blame on the board, simply because it's most most likely some thing you're doing, or the RAM itself.MSI 890FXA-GD70AMD Phenom II x4 three.four Ghz BE Deneb8 GBs of Gskill's RIPJAW seriesATI FirePro V5800two 1.five TB WD tough drives700W energy

Nicely laid out. A lot of USB ports and headers. Very customizable Bios. No active heatsinks, cuts back on noise. Reset button access on the back. PSǘ Ports. Dual NICs, and handy eSATA / USB combo ports. Truly has a full 7 expansion slots.A swift appear at this board shows its got pretty much every thing. About what you would expect out of an 890FX board, loaded to the teeth. Color scheme is nice, and anything is about as uncomplicated to access and overall nicely believed out as you can get these days. Can't figure out how to give you post codes when there are challenges, with beeps or the onboard LEDs. When there is a issue, the motherboard simply enters and endless reboot cycle. I havn't noticed a motherboard of this good quality level do that in over a decade - even budget boards these days have self diagnostic tools that are quite superior.I had a negative memory module, and pinpointing it as the difficulty was just like it was 20 years ago - given that the system wouldnt give me any post code to tell me the challenge, i had to manually check just about every component. Luckily i assumed memory was the challenge so i didnt waste a ton of time, but in this day and age i anticipate self diagnostics to work. Whats worse, in the course of this endless reboot mode, the bios doesnt know how to drop into secure mode - you have to manually reset it into secure mode each and every time you boot it with the switch on the back, or risk staying in the reboot loop regardless. This actually is a high quality board in simple style, and if all the components work proper, you'd by no means notice the only factor i found incorrect with it. Dilemma is, when you have a best tier product from a respected brand name, you anticipate everything to be flawless, and that wasnt the case. I felt like it was a โ Chaintech motherboard from 1995 even though diagnosing issues.Other then that, great board! efficiency is there and it recognized my 1100T out of the box with no flashing the bios, so, overall not a negative item - wouldnt tell an individual not to get it explicitly, like i have with other products in the past, (Asus boards, specifically) but i also in all probability wont purchase from MSI again promptly till i try the competition out first, as i expected more from this price point.

None. Has fourƯ cpu power phasing, which is NOT the market common. The board's MOSFETs fry either correct out of the box or under any sort of overclock when employing an x4 or x6 processor. This kills power to the CPU and the program won't boot, requiring you to replace the board. This is a Extremely typical problem with this board, search the net and you'd be amazed at all the negative critiques and complaints regarding this precise difficulty...I even have a "my MSI 890fx fried" club thread on a preferred overclock forum where many other people have posted their MOSFET failures with this board and the 790fx. It's NOT a heatsink problem, it's just a lack of quality and dated technology. After getting two of these fry and receiving nowhere with MSI consumer support, Newegg came by means of for me and gave me a full refund(outside of my 30day return policy due to the faulty nature of the board)which was used to buy an Asus CHIV Formula from here(CHIV = ideal board ever, btw). reconized all 6 cores on start off,usb three. is a good addition, fairly very good motherboard for the most portion the memory slots are to close to the cpu so if you are wanting a massive heat sink and fan your fairly much out of luck, often it takes two times to start off the board, the dimm slots only has 1 clip so if your thinking of employing the fans from the g skill memory it wont perform for the most part the mobo is fairly decent but for 200 dollars you would think they would of created thoose issues not there

we'll see when I get my RMA.. . .I suppose it is pretty. This factor may be great when it functions but they will suffer my one egg rating for sending me a defective mobo. Specially when it fees this considerably. It has enough positive evaluations, I just felt my defective RAM slot must be reflected somewhere. Google the difficulty and you'll see its not hard to locate a few a lot more circumstances of this out there so just be aware of that. The 2nd memory slot was defective and placing any memory in that slot prevents the board from posting (used several confirmed operating RAM sticks of different brands). And you HAVE TO use slots 1 and 2 specifically if you want to run dual channel memory. You have to populate RAM slot 1 for the board to post consequently slot 2 getting defective limited me to single channel memory. I've read others were able to boot with slots three and four populated but that would not work for me. Maybe that was part of the malfunction?
