+ Effectively priced+ Plenty of USB ports+ Decent overclocking tool set - No Firewire port or header General a very good board for the income. Even though it doesn't have some of the attributes of its bigger brothers (CD-65, CD-80), it still offers a lot of attributes for power users and enthusiasts.

The specs all seem to be fantastic, dont be fooled. 1 PCI Express Slot=NO SLIIn addition to that, it was Dead On Arrival. I'm returning this and spending the further 40 dollars on the subsequent bst point from a different company, I was stupid to try and trust MSI, they generally fail me.

This motherboard has enough features to maintain an overclocker glued to the manual for a couple of days. It's poorly documented. You can't use just any energy provide with this motherboard which I found out to my expense. My 750W PSU didn't have enough juice. They want more than 30+ amps on a single 12V rail. A thing like a corsair 500. I'm mixed on MSI assistance. There are fantastic folks on their forums and their own individuals watch them but that's the principal method of assistance. Documentation is a little disappointing.

Value initially off. Number of USBs. OC capability. OC Genie for mild overclocks. Expandability outside of a number of GPUs. No Crossfire or SLI, but with currently's GPUs there genuinely is no want. No firewire, but no massive deal for me. With USB 3. out would be nice, but not worth dropping an egg. Utilized this in my very first custom build. Wonderful cost and for any individual outside of EXTREME gamers this board is best. Certainly no difficulties so far with it. If you are worried about OC potential then you shouldn't be. BIOS was a small tricky for a noob overclocker, but got it figured out. Does almost everything a simple motherboard need to do. A Decent overclocking motherboard. Certainly not a high end motherboard, but you already knew that. Can OC, but does not have Loan Line Calibration to compensate for Vdroop, and no VTT manage which could limit maximum bclk reached. Was in a position to OC my I5-760 to four GHZ. I wouldn't say it was simple, had to play about with the settings a bit. I am making use of a 22x multiplier with a 182.5 bclk. The bclk can't go greater due to the fact there is no VTT adjustment. If I force a greater bclk, then the system BSOD's. Overall a decent overclocking motherboard for the Value. OC genie is a joke, pushed the board to 3.3 mhz which voltages that are significantly too high for 24ǝ use.

Greeat Board. Wonderful good quality, just like the last 5 MSI boards I have owned had been. Like Motorola, they constantly leave one particular excellent factor off. No Firwire񳅢. Also, really miss MSI’s Status LED’s. (System board state, not CPU state). Have not gotten the Suspend LED function working. These things are minor though.

This is a good board overall. I purchased it primarilyfor its excellent legacy assistance -- as opposed to otherP55 motherboards. The floppy and IDE connectionsworked with no issue. The major purpose ofwriting this review was to focus on an MSI serviceissue, which I will discuss below. The board also provides assistance for a parallel port.Nevertheless, it is only a header on the motherboard, rather than an actual port. In addition, it is anatypical "mini" header -- which is not mentionedanywhere in the specifications at MSI's web site, nor in the motherboard manual. I purchased aparallel port connector cable for the headerconnection, but the cable's connector was toomajor for the motherboard's header! I named MSItwice about this, and lastly they had to consulta senior tech to let me know what was goingon. They then informed me that MSI supplieda cable which would fit that header (cost wasaffordable -- บ). Nevertheless, even that cablewas not mentioned in the manual. The wordingwas "an optional parallel port bracket." Which1? No specification! MSI couldn't evenadvertise its personal optional element really properly! I advisedMSI that they ought to do a far better job of documentationso that I didn't have to acquire the incorrect cable in thefirst place. Following the hassle with MSI, I decided to acquire aparallel to USB adapter, which is more quickly anyway.I bought the GWC adapter right here at Newegg, whichworked properly for all Windows applications, butnot DOS programs. Therefore, there may well nonetheless be somejustification for making use of the parallel header suppliedon the motherboard. If MSI had carried out a much better jobof documentation, I probably would have purchasedtheir cable in the first place. My general feeling about the motherboard, nonetheless,is very good. I would have given it five stars, exceptfor this service concern with MSI. It is not a high-finishboard, but it is superb for the purpose intended.

This board had fit my requirements as it has 3 PCI slots (highest rated board at the time I picked it out with enough PCI slots for the hardware I would have necessary to bring over from an old construct), and USB ports up the wahzo! Only thing I see is the placement of the Intel controlled SATA ports are with respect to exactly where the video card goes. I have a video card suitable now that doesn't go considerably beyond the slot, so it's not an concern for me... HoweverAlso, if you're the kind who don't like flashing lights, prevent circumstances with venting at the prime and the PSU at the bottom. I had picked this board out around the time the 1156 socket initial came out. I kept it on my list as it had the required slots I wanted, and a lot of USB ports.

One more board to boot up just fine. I've purchased many boards more than the years from NewEgg and I've have in no way had one to not boot up. Just fortunate I guess plus Newegg sells some excellent stuff.I'm now an MSI fan, at least for the P55 series. I applied to just purchase G******* boards, but due to negative heatsink placement on some boards, blocking the initial PCI-E x1 slot, I now appear at MSI boards initially ahead of producing a purchase. That's just my personal take on slot placement, but G******* also makes excellent boards, so it's not a knock against them. Nice rock solid board.Excellent cost.Nicely created. None This is my second MSI board bought from Newegg. The very first was the P55-GD65 which was stellar. The P55-CD53 is also a fairly great board. I prefer the P55-CD53 due to it's cost. I use the board for a HTPC and not gaming, so this board is excellent for me, with a excellent balance of value and capabilities. The board is about an inch shorter than the P55-GD65 and makes use of 6 mobo screws rather of 9. I had no issue mounting the Zalman CNPS9900A cooler. Overall, I had no clearance concerns all through the board. Anything works just fine. In my HTPC, this board performs the same as the P55-GD65. This is the board I ought to have purchased the initial time around for my HTPC. For what I use it for, I'm really pleased with it.MSI P55-CD53Dual boot (XP, Windows 7)Intel i7-860Sapphire 100289L Radeon HD 5670 Samsung HD103SJ 1TBG.Skill 4GB DDR3 (PC3 10666) F3-10666CL8D-4GBHKLogitech S-2202 Hauppauge HVR-2250Zalman CNPS9900ASamsung SH-S203B DVD WriterIntel PWLA8391GTDell 1703fptSamsung P2

Incredibly happy so far with this board. I tried a G**** board (GA-P55-UD3L) with OCZ memory that was on G****'s memory support list and had nothing but BSODs, lockups, etc. Played with the settings for a couple of hours and ended up sending it back. Went with this MSI board with Corsair memory (Corsair Memory XMS3 4GB DDR3-1600 (PC-12800) CL9 Memory). Fired up it up with my current install of Win7 64 bit--Windows found all the new HW/Devices and it's been working perfectly 24 x7 for the last 3 days. Great value for the $'s and it just functions!!! Zero--none. If you're making use of 2 sticks of RAM make sure to use the Black slots, otherwise it won't POST (but the manual a lot more or less says this.....)

If you just do not will need the functions in the GD80 or GD65, then the CD53 is an exceptional value. This board has 10 USB ports on the rear, and two USB headers on the board, for a total of fourteen achievable ports.I don't overclock, but this board has all the CPU and memory tweaks that overclockers will want. It has a function that permits the motherboard to manage the overclock, if that's additional your factor. I didn't attempt any of these features myself, but tech evaluations I read on the internet had been positive. No Firewire񳅢 controller. No eSATA ports. No digital audio output.Non-problem: No SLI. If you need to have SLI, I recommend you prevent Socket 1156 altogether. You'll get greater efficiency from a board with an LGA 1366 socket, as of this writing. If I remember properly, the second or third PCIE slots are limited to 4x. Naturally, this neuters any efficiency gains desired by an SLI configuration.Non-concern: No dual gigabit ethernet (as located on the GD65 or GD80). I don't see a lot of men and women needing to team the integrated NICs on their prosumer motherboards, so this really isn't going to be a challenge for most folks. Whilst I don't use these functions, I'm disappointed that Firewire, eSATA and digital optical could not be added to this board. Whilst digital optical might be on the way out in favor of digital audio/video more than HDMI, these nonetheless seem like common 'must-have' capabilities that an entry-level ATX motherboard really should have. To get these, you want to devote at least an extra โ (price distinction present as of this writing) for the GD65.MSI is my manufacturer of selection. That said, the third of the three builds I did with this motherboard had a faulty onboard NIC. Right after reading some of the evaluations here, you really should be warned that there appear to be some quality manage problems with onboard components. The threat of receiving a problematic board could be expected for early adopters, as the P55/Socket 1156 is nonetheless a 'new' platform. I doubt these issues are restricted to MSI.

* Spending budget Price* High high quality* Great looks* Very good layout* Worked correct out of the box* Amazing OC capabilities for a budget board * OC Genie works, but its nothing spectacular (see other thoughts) * 1st issues initial, this board is amazing. This is my initial MSI acquire and I am very pleased with the quality and attributes of this board. I tried OC genie and it works, but it gave me a low OC (around three.2ghz). So I turned OC genie off (and turbo mode) and did some manual overclocking. With out pushing it too difficult, I have my core i5 oc'd to three.6ghz @ 1.2v with my RAM running at rated specs of 1600mhz @ 8-8-8-24. An aftermarket HSF is a should if you plan on overclocking. If you are on a budget and you want to overclock and you don't require more than 1 pci-e 2. slot, look no further. Get this motherboard!

A very solid motherboard for its cost.Hardware energy on/off button. It gets the job performed. Onboard SATA controllers are located where it makes it incredibly hard to access once the graphics card is installed. For those who are seeking to install performace RAM sticks that are rated at 1.6ӭ.65v, you Have to increase the DRAM voltage from the BIOS menu accordingly or your memory will fail to perform at 1.5v default.

OC feature is nice. On board sound is outstanding. Beware ... I Have not been able to get it to function reliably. If the video card is secured in spot, the board will not remain powered up. If the video card is just inserted in the slot, and not secured down to the case by the rear screw attachment, every thing is fine. I have tried two diverse MB's and the results are the same. I have also tried various video cards and gotten the exact same results. It looks like the style of the MB is such that a slight flex in the PCB causes a brief. I have confirmed that there are no external shorts.

A ton of USB ports, consists of incredibly valuable utilities on the included CD. Lots of extra cables, a lot of room on the board. The board seemed great for the initially couple of days, but it started blue screening and restarting randomly. It appears that it was an issue with my memory that was fixed with a flash to the newest bios. Dropped an egg for that, but otherwise great so far. OC genie seems like it could be helpful, however, I believe it caused my method to turn out to be unstable. I disabled it and everything seems to be fine. It was before I had flashed the bios although, so it may work superior now.

My priority was to get the cheapest Excellent motherboard for my Core i5 760, with enough flexibility to do all the points I want to do, and still connect my old (IDE) equipment too. This is it! It comes with FOUR actually very good Manuals, 1 of which is just for overclocking tuning! On the last page, MSI truly "Suggests" you use liquid nitrogen "for extreme overclocking outcomes"! The BIOS is good, tons of choices. The Blue Phase LEDs look wonderful in my Lian Li Lancool PC-K58W case window. (BIOS choice lets you turn them off if you want.) A whopping 10 USB ports on back + 2 much more USB headers Essentially, I was actually impressed with MSI's efforts in the packaging and style of this motherboard kit. 2 SATA cables, 4 manuals, 1 Molex to SATA power adapter cable. Even although this is not their "Flagship model", it feels like it is. I'm still not positive why anyone would want a much better mobo than this - unless you are performing 2x PCIE (SLI) OC Genie was a large letdown - it just caused my PC to reboot endlessly. For how hyped up MSI talked about OC Genie in the manual I genuinely expected additional. But that's OK, with my Mushkin DDR3 1333 2x2GB RAM, all I had to do was Enable XMP Support in BIOS and I was instantly overclocked from 2.8ghz stock to three.37ghz on the stock Core i5 760 Intel fan/cooler. No complications with Prime 95 ࿞-65c max core temps). I'll use a greater cooler if I push harder. The 6 chipset SATA ports on board are all angled sideways which is possibly good for long graphics cards, but makes the bottom ones tough to access. 90deg SATA cables won't work. I'd prefer if the ports had been vertical but no major deal. (there are 2 a lot more JMicron SATA ports that are vertical, for a total of 8). Updating the ROM BIOS was a huge PITA.. MSI's BIOS built in Flash utility was total junk, didn't even function as developed. A trip to their support web page was even worse as they suggest against utilizing their own BIOS update utility 1 of my greatest concerns was, will I be able to boot from my original IDE/PATA drive on this board? Given that Intel chipsets no longer have IDE onboard, boards like these use the infamous JMicron controller to add 1 IDE port (which permits a Master + Slave). Well, it works perfectly! Windows 2000 cant even tell the difference. The BIOS F11 Boot menu works like a champ and you can pick anything and it will boot from it. BIOS lets you configure over 6 devices in the Boot Sequence. The Realtek HD Audio works wonderful and I love the front-panel headphone jack autodetect feature. You plug headphones in and it automatically mutes the rear line out! I Truly liked the manuals, for an Asian corporation they were really nicely carried out from both a advertising and technical standpoint. A little bad English but not too poor. I am quite satisfied with this board and relieved it worked out as nicely as it has. This board makes my old P4 Intel Desktop D865GRH look like a toy in comparison!
