MSI X58A-GD45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Comment:
This motherboard has everything you could possibly need to have to construct an amazing technique. In between the 6 SATA2, 2 SATA3, USB three. (x2) and 6 USB two. ports, I will not run out of growth possible for the life of the machine. The bios settings are extremely open and flexible permitting just about any configuration you would ever need to have for overclocking, etc. The motherboard does not work properly in a triple channel configuration. Documentation is next to non-existent, and the MSI tech folks were slow to respond ƕ days from initial help request) to my issue. I have 12GB of RAM installed in the machine, which the motherboard sees when you view the memory settings, but it will only address 8GB of it. They gave me a beta bios to attempt and fix the problem, but it only produced the sound have problems with graphics intensive games. I would steer clear of this motherboard if you want more than 3 GB of RAM. MSI X58A-GD45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Comment:
Works with 2.99GB of RAM This board will not recognize all of the memory as usable memory. I bought the Patriot Sector 7 - 12 GB Triple-channel memory kit, and it shows I have 12GB, but only two.99GB useable. I have talked to the manufacturer, and they told me to make certain I am putting the sticks in the black DIMM slots and keep reinstalling until the memory is all useable. If you read the manual, it says that to begin with. Immediately after reinstalling the RAM numerous times starting with DIMM 1, then three, then 5, as the manual stats, they told me to reseat the processor and reinstall the ram until this board sees all the memory as usable. Thats a lot of work just to get the memory to function! So far, no genuine support from the manufacturer. If I could return this board I would! MSI X58A-GD45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons: No active NB cooler.

Pros: Great overclocker, triple slot setup for 2 way crossfire or SLI. Has lots of 3 pin fan plug-ins.
Comment:
I mainly bought this because of the 3 slot setup for multi GPUs. Never made as big of a difference compared to a dual slot setup for cooling as I'd have liked. Installed a MCW30 over the NB, fits and works great, altho I lost the use of my X-FI soundcard. Performs better than my old P6T coupled with a i7 930. For some reason the automatic setting for my 12GB(3x4GB) corsair vengeance finds 9-9-9-24-84.... But it really requires 9-9-9-24-107.. The ICH10R controller for RAID0 is amazing, gets 700+MBs with 2x X25-M 80GB and a C300 64GB, just make sure you connect them in port 1-3.
