I've had this thing for more than a year and it just got way superior. The clarity is ideal and it just begins up swift like nobody's small business. I use my own high excellent mic but occasionally skype switches back to the webcam mic for no apparent reason and noone can tell the distinction. Wonderful webcam for the funds. Why microsoft doesn't make much more hardware amazes me, all their hardware is great(mice, xbox 360, webcams, keyboards) None, Earlier problem with skype resolved(explained beneath) When I initially got this, I was disappointed because I bought it to do 720p video calling on skype. Regrettably, skype had a licensing deal that you could only do it with logitech cameras, or with cameras that have the encoding hardware built into the camera to lessen strain on the Computer. Seeing that I have a quad-core gaming program, I located this limitation arbitrary and frustrating. I updated skype last week and to my amazement I was calling people in best 16ɍ 720p video. My initial frustration has been resolved thanks to skype. Acquire this webcam, it's awesome.

Impressive audio quality, I was blown away!Despite the fact that I don't yet have the monitor and receiving client for 720p HD, the SD video top quality is amazing, and FPS in no way lagged! Seems to automobile-concentrate a little a lot more than I would like. Tip, be careful with light sources in the room. Maintain a good amount of light in the room for greater picture. An wonderful webcam! Microsoft engineered the support arm utilised to stabilize the webcam perfectly! I don't really feel that this webcam is a lot worse than all the other useless webcams I have owned or witnessed. To me, it seems to be an old story, webcam producers just never ever get it ideal. Auto concentrate is hinkey, overly light sensitive, computer software is horrible, and does'nt even have motion detection. My Logitech Quickcam Orbit (which also sucks) at least has motion detection. Wanted to use this cam for occasional security purposes (not spying) and Skype kind stuff. Not up to it even with software purchased for the purpose. Bottom line, you will not find this cam any far better than the useless one you already have. Swear.

Functions properly with Skype and KeyLemon to name a couple. The interface works, but appears cumbersome. Try and catch it when it's on sale; ๠ is a bit too much in my opinion.

Video excellent and audio excellent. Duh. None I use this for Skyping. Every person says I appear fantastic and audio is perfect. I truly installed the MS software that came with it and it's essentially quite impressive and fun.

I've applied a number of webcams, the last one being a Logitech IM cam. However, the LifeCam is by far the finest webcam I have ever employed or observed employed. It was basic and swift to install. Each and every IM program I have it works wonderfully with. The picture is clear and sharp. The automobile face tracking is quick and immediate practically startling so. I highly suggest this webcam for any individual who desires to use one. For the money, it is worth every single penny. The LifeCam has exceeded my expectations. 10 out 10. None.

This camera works precisely as described. The MS LifeCam Software program is very uncomplicated to use for recording video, audio and taking snapshots. It can actually do 1280x720 at 30fps. Also the auto-focus and auto-brightness function awesome, even in low light. I use it to Skype with family and friend across the globe, and so far they all believe the quality is stunning. Also the style is sleek and it sits effortlessly and steady atop my 40" LCD HDTV. Lastly the mic works wonderfully, noise-canceling built-in, and ideal of all the range is Fantastic. I can be up to 20 feet away and it still pics me up perfectly. Not genuinely any but see other thoughts. To get 720p to work with Skype you need to have to do a speedy hack (Google it), but htis is a skype factor NOT a MS or hardware issue. Also it DEPENDS ON YOU BANDWIDTH. I have 2mbps upload and so I get the 720p 99% of he time. If I'm browsing or downloading while Skype video is on, Skype will re-size back to lower res Ɣɇ). When the bandwidth resumes to full (i.e. quit download or browsing) Skype resumes 720p ྰɍ); sometime calls for a fast stop/start of video but not the call.PS: To those complaining about the LifeCam software only working with its mic, what do you anticipate? It's created to be uncomplicated and it is. If you need additional choices get one more freeware video recording app. All goods have proprietary software, and you can choose to use it or not. Do not make it a con of the HARDWARE!!!

Excellent picture, no squeals, works as advertised...up to point.I have 3 computers KVM'd together. KVM=keyboard,video and mouse connected by way of a switch. The webcam is connected on a hub. This is important to don\'t forget. Now realize, I have dial-up(all I can get and afford at the moment). I get property, get the webcam(instructions say to not plug the webcam in however) and commence to install the computer software on disk. It keeps insisting on going on line and downloading the newest software. Absolutely nothing I can do will maintain this disk from installing what's on it. I have to go to the Microsoft web site and get this update. two.five hours later, I have the software installed. What did I get? Some sort of manage panel with little icons that puts particular effects on the image. Also it has a control icon to zoom and adjust left, correct, up, or down. I waited two.5 hours for this. The disk has pretty much 400mb of information on it. It was barely touched(very small disk activity led) Why would you have this disk included when you can't use it. Now possibly if I had broadband/dsl I wouldn't be so bitter. The genuine problem came when I went to install the webcam on the other computers. Considering that it was still attached to the hub, it was noticed the os(WIN XP) and installed just fine!!?@#@Given that I have video editing software program, it worked as any other capture device. So for all you dial-up users, don't bother to RTM. Just plug and play. Unless you got two or more hours to waste so that you can put a lightbulb on your image. It wasn't worth 2.five hours of my life.

Worked perfectly with installation of disc on Windows Ultimate 64 bit. Working with Skype and buddies say video top quality is superb (now if I could just get everyone else to acquire one). none Built-in microphoine works great. My buddy thought she heard me typing, but it was the neighbors next door shooting off fireworks. I then turned the camera outside (awesome).

I adore the HD capability of this camera. The picture quality is quite very good. Setup and installation of the software was a breeze and the USB cable has a lot of length for most PC configurationsHas some cute effects that the kids will enjoy to play with and provide some laughter. Software is Incredibly restricted. I was not impressed with the Microsoft Life Cam software. Whilst the effects are funny, it is restricted and will grow boring immediately after novelty wears off. This on the other hand, is not a reason to knock the camera, as wonderful software can be downloaded from the world-wide-web.The monitor clip is a poor design. It works perfect for my desktop monitor, exactly where there is NO movement. But it was useless on my laptop. The positive note is that the clip can be molded to sit on a desktop and present excellent angles. I seriously like this camera and will buy 1 for the parents and grandparents. I noticed 1 other issue, but I think it has to do with the software. If the camera has a view of any object in the distance that modifications (Like a Television), the camera will continously alter focus. I overcame this problem by creating positive the camera was positioned so the camera did not have the Television in view.

Love it!It sounds excellent so the mic for a cam integrated cam works extremely properly. The video also looks good, with a decent personal computer you shouldn't have a problem. People today say the auto focus is incredibly annoying. I saw it do the auto focus a couple times. It's rather quick and if your jumping around like a bunny in the background it may possibly have issues but not actually. If it is an problem it can often be turned off. No just a excellent item for the cost.

Wonderful picture quality, very good low light res, small size, flexible camera stand. sound excellent from internal mic, YOU Can\'t use an external microphone with with this webcam. I bought this thinking that it would have comparable software as their some of their prior webcams in permitting me to choose which mic i want to use. internal or external. Not the case. I named the microsoft tech line and they confirmed that you cannot use an external mic. The developers did not believe it was important so they removed it from the software program. I will be acquiring rid of this cam and finding the Logitech 9000.

Out of the box, I was somewhat surprised at the size (about half a roll of quarters on a flexible stand), but pleased it was so modest.Every little thing installed fine on Windows 7 x64, no main troubles so far.Resolution is awesome when turned all the way up (it has a assortment of resolution settings), you can adjust the brightness, and set some flicker reduction settings. Autofocus does a quite great job of locating my face and not my busy room in the background. Colors are quite vibrant.Software included is fairly effortless to understand. There is still a incredibly faint quantity of noise across the image, but not a ton. It's still very high excellent, but if you're looking for some thing to make high-quality videos, you're searching in the wrong product section. Try HD Camcorders.Autofocus -occasionally- takes a second to re-focus. This really is a great webcam. The only problem I have with it is it didn't attach to the top of my flat panel monitor the way it shows it will in the pictures. Aside from that, it's top shelf, great video quality, color, speed etc. Ready to go out of the box per instructions. I'd buy it again.
