The Best Router for Optimum Online Ultra
Comment:
I have this router connected to my Gateway Desktop E-6500D SB Computer with a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Xtreme Ethernet Adapter with Optimum Online Ultra Service giving me downstream speeds averaging 101mb/sec and upstream speeds of 15mb/sec. Netgear routers are known for their reputation as excellent routers, especially this one which has 8 internal antennas and able to broadcast up to 300mb/sec wirelessly with MAC filtering alone at 802.11n. The router can be set to 802.11g @ 54mb/sec for BlockBuster OnDemand 2Wire STB and unchecking WiFi Multimedia Settings under QoS Setup for compatability, however losing some speed performance as an outcome. The WN121T is an excellent Wireless USB 802.11n for my other computer Gateway NX860S Notebook. I also use a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet to USB adapter for my Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook Computer, but the best connection speed I am able to use is with the Gateway E-6500D SB Desktop with 4GB of DDR2 800Mhz FSB and 2 Dual-Core Processing 3.00Ghz.

Setup has never been easier. Took only a short time to get this router configured and running. Performance was great, stability is another manner. Device has had 2 lockups over the last 7 days, each requiring unplugging the power to fix. (Could not access device or internet through it) Also wireless has not been stable, losing signal periodically. (Previous router never had issues) Summary: If you get a good unit, it rocks. If not you will be plagued by glitches.

Purchased my router in November 08.'As a techie, setup has never been easier. Running full duplex gigabit, wired. My son uses the wireless for internet gaming with his PSP. I even have my neighbors pc using the router as an access point for internet connection. No drops or failures. Firmware updated without incident. Plug and play for non-techies. What are you waiting for? Get yours while supplies are plentiful. Did not get a ''recertified'' unit, got new.

The router is probably the best one purchased ever. My only downside experience is when we lose connectivity on occasions. I really like the options available for security in minimum and a much wider range depending on location to neighbors, etc... I really like the product and would buy a NETGEAR product in the future. Great product for the price!

This was a piece of junk. The unit was DOA, so I swapped out the power cord and the thing fired up. Unfortunately the unit was used and the password was unknown to me. After a hard reset I could get in but the manual they put on the installation CD was two pages long. There is a better manual online, but since my computer runs off the wireless I could not access it. After fumbling around the interface I got it set up and working...for only minutes at a time. It would dump the connection randomly. I think the longest it would last was 30 minutes, then reboot itself.

I live in the middle of nowhere about 100 miles from somewhere. The only internet that is worth paying for here is satellite. With all the negative feedback I wasnt sure this would work. So we got the Netgear WNR3500 router, Netgear WN511T Wireless Network Adapter and ready for battle. One emachine with XP and two Toshiba laptops one with Vista and the other with XP. No joke in less than 10 minutes the setup was over. Ive never networked anything before, and this was a piece of cake. Thanks Netgear and TigerDirect. If I can do it, anybody can.

Comment:
Purchased this router yesterday, I figured I could spend a few hours setting it up and then reconfiguring all the LAN and WiFi devices (2 desk tops, 4 wireless lap tops, 1 XBox 360, 1 PS3 and a wireless printer) to access the home network and internet again. Well.............. inserted the CD into the home server followed the instructions to set up the router, went to all the devices and with the exception of the PS3 each was up and running in minutes! Had to reset the PS3 configuration back to factory and then step through setting it up, for some reason the PS3 would not take the new WEP name this had nothing to do with the router. It looks impressive, its speed is amazing, set up was so easy I couldn't believe it, I really figured I would be flipping through setup instructions and cursing when a device would not connect, the computers are a mix of XP and Vista (Acer, Toshiba and HP). For $120.00 it probably is one of the best things I have purchased in the last few months!

Got this yesterday and hooked it up. So far so good. This router is sooooo much better then my old Linksys WCG200. It allows any number of ports to be opened (the LS only allowed 10). right now its servicing 2 computers, a wii, and a ps3 wirelessly, as well as a vista laptop. I still get massive dl speeds regardless (up to 27 mbps on a speed test while up to 7 to 12 mbps on actual downloads). the ui is slightly annoying, it restarts the modem for ANY changes you make. this router pwns, 1 gbps networks ftw, I can now transfer my rag server updates to my server computer in about 45 seconds instead of 6 minutes with my old router. this is a great buy!
