Nothing but wireless problems
Comment:
This Router is screaming for Ad attention. So I bought it to replace the 3-yr old Netgear Router WGR615. The RangeMax is great 2ft away, but my laptop 18ft away is constantly offline. I am not a novice and have MSCE Certs. It's possible that I received the 1 in 100 that have a problem. Your company always has great deals and I still have confidence purchasing from them.

NETGEAR WNR3500-100NAS RangeMax Premium Wireless-N Gigabit Router
Cons:-No Windows 7 software support.-Install steps are stupid.-Parental controls are a joke.

Pros:-Strong signal.-Easy configuration.-Reliable.
Comment:
As a Wireless N router it is a good one at the right price. Very reliable with good throughput.Replaced an Airlink Wireless N which I got poor signal and couldn't get IP address. Hooked in the Netgear and immediately had IP and twice the signal strength. Also replaced a DLink G which kept having dropouts for my PS3 and haven't had one since. To configure toss the install CD in the garbage and use web browser to go to the default IP address. Install CD will not work for Windows 7 and there is no support at the web site.Main parental control (and highly advertised for free) is just a DNS entry. It tells you to install software which will detect your device. Just get the IP address for the DNS service and enter it. Just looks up DNS at a company instead of you default ISP and blocks bad ones with no form of exceptions. You can do this with any router/firewall. Other for parental control is to enter key words.

Excellent Product
Comment:
This is one of the easiest and best routers I have worked with. You can either set it up using the included CD or go through your browser. It steps you through with insightful screens and instructions as well as text descriptions. The range is also much better than many of the other Wireless Routers I have used. It also has a fast through put even when all 4 hardwire ports and 5 wireless machines are all downloading at once. For the money and the ease of installation, it is an excellent buy.

Very easy to setup and use
Comment:
This router is very easy to setup, I had it up and running in 10 minutes. I'm not a computer geek, so I thought that I would need help, but after using the quick start guide for setup, it was a piece of cake! Also, it's very easy to connect any device with the push button on the front. I connected my kid's DSi's in no time. Very happy with this product.

NIce Router
Comment:
Wireless range wasn't quite what I had hoped for, but still better than the Link-Sys junk I previously was using... Router has features the Mfr doesn't really tout, like UPnP and up to 2o ports that can be forwarded. Fairly easy to set up and even looks cool. I am going to buy at least two more for my other installations as soon as the Link-sys units stop working... I shouldn't have to wait too long...

Perfect throught out my House
Comment:
In my House there is now, No dead spots. Located in my basement, it even works in my neighbours house. That is a true test. Can't wait for the summer. I bought this unit so I can use my computer in the backyard & still get sun & fresh air.

It's going back
Comment:
Pros:Easy setup. Took 30min by the time I set up mac address filtering. It has a sleek design that blends into my desk well. Cons:Signal strength is not consistent. Jumps from 60-70% The laptop is only 4 months old so that is not the issue. I am connecting through the floor but I am directly above the router. Using win vista 32bit. The wireless G I had did better than this and cost me 30 dollars. Netgear generally makes a good product but I am very disappointed with this one. Maybe I just got a bad one?

Good performance, they need to finish the firmware
Comment:
Picked this up to replace a 3 year old 834 unit. The firmware upgraded nicely and left me with a great working unit. One thing, the upgrade firmware now shows a traffic monitoring page, but it is grayed out and not functional yet. It would be nice to monitor monthly traffic since I am a cable user (250GB per month limit) with no way to see my traffic otherwise. The Gig switch is really nice for the home network (2 Linux servers, 7 wired, and 5 wireless). Cost the same as the 834 did 3 years ago so I figure it a good value. I have had really good luck with this brand equipment.

Once Configured, works great for FAST streaming
Comment:
I am by no means a network expert but took a couple of hours of hair pulling to get to work right. Connected right up to windows 7 desktop but could not get an XP laptop to see it. Had to run the setup disc from the laptop with no security to get it to work. Once it connected ran great. Netflix via xbox, laptop and desktop all running at same time. Super fast, have not had to reboot the router in a month. Long term reliability still not be discovered.

Netgear WNR3500 RangeMax Wireless N Router
Comment:
Wireless features can be limited buy building construction. I bought 2 of them and have them only 40ft apart but due to the Steel building I am in it disrupts the wireless function. I have a 3rd. unit another 70ft. away in my house basement and it also will not connect. I will continue to try and extend the range but I have drought's.

Worth the money
Comment:
I've had this router for 3 months now w no issues whatsoever......But it has only been 3 months. So obviously this router wasn't made by monkeys without a sense of quality control....eh hem! links1s! Currently I'm running; 4 desktops in home office(LAN), 1 wireless photo printer, 1 d-link wireless print server(with this old H pack 4100TN industrial layseryet that just won't die), and Comc00st's Middle of the line cable service Remote desktop via didins works great along with 2 Panas00nic IP cameras. Couldn't be happier.

Good router for the typical end user...
Comment:
Had this for about a year now. Had the lock up problem, but that was fixed with a firmware update. Originally had it vlanned off a 24 port switch and into a linux firewall and handing out it's own leases on a different subnet. Not a problem. Now running it through an unix custom firewall. Had some issues with the WAN port trying to assign itself primary, but with some rc foo, was able to remedy that too. Overall, good performance, good price, will work for the tech g33k and gamer crowd and also the mid level guys that need stuff like vpn passthru and dhcp reserved lists and plenty of security stuff for the paranoid folks...

Not A Bad router
Comment:
I did find the item slighty cheaper than advertised at another store but found the features easy to use. Installing it was slightly time consuming but most likely it was because I was doing something wrong. (once i opened the manual and started reading it was no problem) It worked well with my old pc and easily linked with my xbox and childrens pc. Speed wasn't bad at all and so far I haven't had an issue with it.

Most satisfactory
Comment:
I'm a believer in wired communication being more secure than wireless, so turning off the radio in this unit and setting up the household network was a joy. It would take a visible wire to be plugged in for somebody to pirate internet off of our network.

Is everything we hoped it would be - and more
Comment:
This product was purchased for a non-profit Cable Access Television studio - to service three powerful laptops and other networkable devices. Went in smoothly and has performed above and beyond expectations, easily reaching the main studio as well as the offices where it is installed. The only minor negative might be the documentation where some of the "English" didn't quite translate into pure American...

Has a serious flaw, in my opinion
Comment:
Looking at the specs., I do not see anything that says this router can not be added after another router. However, when I tried adding it to my wired network, I found out that at least this Netgear router could not support this configuration, that it needs to see the modem directly. Unfortunately, my modem is in the basement, it did work there, but it is asking the router a lot to give good connectivity 3 floors away. Had to return it, the Belkin replacment is working fine.
