NORCO RPC-230 2U Rackmount Server Case
Comment:
Modest, Lightweight, two NIC LED Indicators, Appears to be sturdy for the value Other individuals have noted that the fans are extremely loud, even so the fans are actually incredibly fairly. The noise is caused by the front panel of the situation with its "honeycomb" shaped cut outs. So if you don't like the noise don't bother to get additional "quiet" fans since they will generate the very same noise. With the front panel removed the stock fans are whisper fairly. Not truly a difficulty with the case but be cautious of the motherboard you acquire. The ASUS P5QPL-AM has its connectors in oddly placed spots generating it tricky to work with this situation. The 4 Pin ATX12 energy connector is on the far end of the board causing the cable to be incredibly tight and also run straight on the CPU fan

Affordable, quite solid construction. Not too deep (my rack is subsequent to my desk so anything bigger would be a quite tight fit) Fans are somewhat noisy. I was unable to fit a difficult drive in the leftmost two bays (in front of the PSU), which was not a big dilemma as I only am putting a single drive in the situation. Get a PSU with SATA energy cables a lot more than two inches apart if you strategy to put several drives in it.

NORCO RPC-230 2U Rackmount Server Case
Comment:
Shallow depth for a 2U, good layout, good construction, flush screws everywhere, good quality looking finish, normal ATX power supply mount. Came with a big bag of mounting hardware, screws, and so on. Good price tag! 1 standoff in incorrect place to use mATX board, but this is expected due to the fact it is a server case. Tricky to get at connectors on the edge of the motherboard due to the challenging disk shelf, but once more it's a truly shallow 2U so sacrifices required to be created somewhere. Fans are Truly loud, not certain if it's brand or placement but would require to be modified for HTPC use. I would almost certainly use an ITX board in this chassis the subsequent time about, would make for a swift develop.

Fits common mATX board, ATX power supply and stuff fine. The blank in the five.25" bay is also a 3.5" internal bracket for one more HD if you don't want/need the CD-Rom or whatever there. Fans flow pleanty of air for the P4 three. I put in it.Case has pleanty of room for the old C-Clamp-leaver style P4 stock HSF. Its in the information center so I don't care that my Untangle content filter is loud.. A couple inches deeper would have produced cabling less difficult. Flat IDE cables restrict airflow a bit. A actually "deep" five.25" drive might trigger troubles fitting in front of the PSU. Make positive your power provide is not the side-fan kind as it will be blocked by the situation. It needs to flow straight by means of front to back.SATA drives make the cable difficulties go away...

Comment:
Regular ATX energy supply, MicroATX compatible, plenty of room thinking about it becoming 2U. Sturdy material, I was skeptical what it would be like at very first. Fans are indeed a tiny loud for 80mm fans, that's pretty a lot why it got a four instead of five. There is not a screw for the bottom right corner of a MicroATX board, it's a rackmount and not moving anyplace so I just left it without support appropriate there, no big deal. I removed all the HDD brackets except for one, with all of them in there factors are a little tight, two front USB ports would have been good, oh nicely.

Nice layout.Affordable.Decent finish. Not deep enough! With a decent size power provide in it you can not install tough drives in front of the power provide - they hit. Also, with a regular stock fan on a xeon you can not install tough drives in front of the processor - the drives hit the fan. I really wanted to use/like this situation - it's affordable and I like the layout. Even so, it's just not adequate room for the parts I employed. If you had a energy provide that wasn't so lengthy (I applied a mushkin 550150) and utilised an aftermarket CPU fan that was low profile it may perform nevertheless it would still be extremely tight. If they would make this case specifically the identical except four inches longer I would use it all the time.I'm certain it will operate for some - just be incredibly aware of the limited space.

I expected flimsy but this situation is study. I like the layout for the optical and tough drives. Has leds for two nic cards which I like, though I didn't acquire nics with this capability. Fans are noisy As the other review say you can place in a normal power provide but with no fans on the sides. Put in a 300 W ATX power provide, a Foxconn motherboard, an Asus optical drive and and 500g WD difficult drive. Optical drive screws in from the bottom of the case.

Comment:
Fits all my stuff. Looks decent from all angles. Sturdy outer construction on par with similar Antec or Supermicro instances I've applied. Constant finish, considerably much better than I expected for the price tag paid. Packed and shipped effectively in a double box. Screws instead of rivets, and it offers it a solid feel (on the other hand, some screws feel like they would strip very easily). All around a fantastic case for a straightforward household server. This situation is TERRIBLE on the inside, not because of the style or layout, but simply because each stinkin metal edge is as sharp as they could possibly make it. I mean, seriously, even if they paid a person to strike them with a file for 2 min following they came off the line, it would save a lot of trouble. The top comes off with screws on the sides of the case. Every single similar item I have used has back screws, and the top slides straight back and can be lifted off.Only a single front USB... ????HUH?????The hard drive brackets are bit clunky, and it's simple to drop a screw when attempting to get them in place from the best down.Demands a power supply with NO top or bottom fans, but all the venting has to go straight by way of mainly because of the slim profile. This isn't a large con, because they are restricted to 2U, or three.5", so there's not a lot the manufacturer can do about this. It's worth mentioning, although, simply because a lot of comparable organization focused circumstances will come with their personal power provide. This case fits a range of hardware, but is much more suited for a home server create or possibly a tiny workplace router or firewall box. I would NOT create a company server in this case, mainly mainly because it is extremely tough to work with, requiring a lot of disassembly to get to anything. I'd much prefer front accessible drive trays, but you can't expect all the bells and whistles from a ๖ situation. (I got these much, much less expensive with free of charge shipping on a Newegg sale, almost certainly would in no way pay full price plus the ฤ s&h they are asking now. There is also not a lot of choices for rear support or any type of rails for this situation (I don't trust just the front brackets), so strategy on rigging your own "shelf", unless it's mounted all the way to the bottom of a box or possibly on top of an additional piece of equipment. For heat separation, though, you'd want space among almost anything.

This is a pretty wonderful case. Its 2U and does take a normal size ATX power provide (I applied the Antec green 380w one). My motherboard fit in fine and it has 4 tough drive bays that come out very easily. The tricky drives and cd-rom drive do not get side screws... they get bottom mounted screws. Not seriously a massive deal but I use a hot-swappable HD bay in my cd-rom bay... which did not have bottom screws. The 2nd a single I utilised (i have lots of them) did have bottom screws, but they did not line up adequately with the case. Could be the design of the drive bay i utilized, but i had to dremel my bay a bit (the hot-swappable one particular)... for standard cd-rom drives, shouldnt be an concern at all. Like other individuals have mentioined, its tight on space. Its also a 2U case so you need to Expect that. I gave it fourǛ since of the bottom screw selection which im not a fan of. Other then that, its a good case. Really slim, is not deep at all which is great for me. I'd definitly acquire additional of these...

Sturdy case It's smaller but of course it's a 2U. The two 80 mm fans make a lot of noise( BUT most little fans do) so I want to slow them down. With a 95 watt AthlonII, 4 gig of ddr2, a gigabyte ma785gm-us2h and two drives it does not get too hot with the fans off (ㆊ F room)For ๋ with free shipping it was a great deal.

Short depth rack case. Great airflow for low power CPU's. Looks excellent, simple to operate with taking into consideration the size. It looks fantastic. I would acquire this case once again. Loud fans. Added a NZXT Sentry-2 5.25 to very them down. Sentry will only let you go down to 40% of full speed, but they are fairly really now.The 5.25 slot in the front makes use of bottom mounting screws. Not a con seriously, but I had to hot glue my NZXT into the case given that it only has side mounts. Had to eliminate all the internal drive bays but a single to get wires to fit. I only needed one particular, so I did not care. If/when the fans die, you will have to tear apart the complete case to swap them out. No filter for the fans either. They should make the front panel come off for straightforward replacement of the fans. (Change the fan mounting to facilitate effortless removal.)Make certain your motherboard will fit! Has front mounted NIC indicators, but I have no way of hooking them up to my Intel NICs. I have a 30 MB FIOS connection and needed a quickly Astaro box. I bought this to run a 3TB NAS server for my home network. Its price point was good and I had no troubles with it. I utilized a micro ATX board and had no difficulties with the length of my 20 pin power connector from my PSU. Its got four 1.5TB drives in it and they feel solidly mounted. Case does not get quite warm even when in a wall mount cabinet in a closet but it assists that I am only working with a 45 watt AMD Sempron processor. The core temp stays stable at about 110* F with the stock box cooler. The screws they send can be over tightened and stripped with modest force so don't strategy on producing this a case that you take apart each and every weekend to tweet some thing put it with each other and leave it. That's fine with me due to the fact now that its in the rack I don't program on pulling it out unless the drives require to be replaced. Front fans are loud like absolutely everyone mentioned. I don't really care, its in a rack, in a closet so I hear only the faintest of whirring sounds though the two doors

Bought this along with the GA-G41M-ES2H which fits ok (have to eliminate one particular mounting peg with pliers & discover some old plastic stand offs for extra assistance). The case fits properly in my 19" network rack, quite tight inside and I really feel like the fans in the front don't offer considerably cooling by the time you add a power provide and a cd-rom drive there isnt any space to sick the wires. I ended up tucking some in a tough drive bay. Also you will loose one more tough drive bay if you want to add a graphics card or a RAID card. I have my 3ware sidecar raid pci-express card in there and it fits nicely. I ended up going with the antec EA380. Soon after some consideration I would take into account purchasing a smaller atx powersupply the ones you see in HP's that are half the size but still atx... so that there is some area for wires. A bit small and crapped inside. The fans in the front present some cooling but not adequate as wires end up in front of the fans as there is no place to put them. General i'm very happy with the case. I knew purchasing it that it was going to be "tight" inside. Pay extra attention to hooking up the USB header appropriately as you will finish up frying a usb device if you don't do it proper. The case also has two leds for networking (NIC) but the board I purchased is just a standard computer micro-atx board so I employed one for the message LED and the other for nothing. I think I will buy an additional of these prior to newegg is sold out. Overall Happy.

Comment:
The first disappointment with this chassis is that the chassis fans mount such that they touch the front cover (the front cover is not optional). Thus, the only air the fans get (or exhaust, depending which way you mount them), is limited by the surface area of the front grill exactly corresponding to the size of the fan.The result of this is that even the more expensive silent fans have to spin up to the point that they're as loud as any stock fan in response to reduced air flow and the resulting increased temps. This happened within a minute of booting the server in 17C ambient temperature. This was unacceptable to me, so I used tin snips and a bench grinder to open two holes in the front grill to allow the two chassis fans to breath. If this was the only problem with this case I would have given it 3 or 4 stars. The next issue, and the one that caused me much more work, was that the mounting holes in the rack ears are too far apart to fit a standard 19" rack. I burned through two dremel bits opening these holes, and then had to physically push my rack posts apart by a mm or two just to get this thing mounted. I bought two of these cases, so the second one is still sitting on the shelf six months after I bought it because I haven't gone to buy more dremel bits yet. This trouble definitely would have warranted spending the extra money on a different product. That said, if you have the tools, and more time than money, I guess this chassis might be the right thing for you. After my modifications it is now performing well, but I would not intentionally put myself through that again.

Five stars for value point to top quality level. Nicely create case, good construction and look. Holds an antec green power supply perfectly. This produced a nice upgrade for my debian file server. Slightly cramped for Matx boards, you may have concerns with the ide positions on the primary board when installing all 4 drives in their bays.

Fantastic audio pc case fits common psu not quite a few sharp edges only tough drive cage is sharp. I was able to install 4 case fans two two.five difficult drives dvd burner 890gm pro asrock mb 1090t amd cpu ram and add on pcie card. just about almost everything demands adjustment well designed poor assembly. Remedy by loosening screws and aligning affected area. There is no assistance for the last 2 inches on correct side of motherboard weird anchor placement I just put a little packaging foam underneath for support. Every little thing you put in hear has got to be low profile. Cpu fan sits only 3ǚ inch under lid. Had to cut a square intake more than cpu. Heat has been my enemy on this project its alot of power for the amount of space but I require that extra power to lower audio latency down to .five ms. Soon after A small struggle this case has proven to be a great obtain. I got the cpu temps down to 36c idle 50c full load 36 to 45 for mb with stock cooler and the help of four case fans. To cut the square hole use a grinder functions great. Also recall to get a rear exhaust psu.

This case is great, it fit every thing I wanted to and sits on the rack incredibly nicely, it was just the right size for my M0n0wall box simply because I was tired of getting an ATX mid tower sitting sideways in my rack taking up like 5.5U. the power button is kind of cool too. It's not less expensive. There were screws on the BOTTOM OF THE CASE so I had to move it off the edge of the table to get to them. I got some parts from Ra*io Sh**k and built an on/off switch for the front fan (which is type of loud usually). I am too lazy to install M0n0wall to a hard drive so instead this boots off of a CD in the CD drive every time and writes to a floppy disk. I managed to cram a floppy drive in the three.5in HDD bay backward so I can get to the floppy disk if I want to open the case. I was in a position to get away with making use of an ugly beige floppy drive and no one knows it! I am planning on ordering another one when I refurbish my storage server. (currently an Micro atx slim tower case)

Good construction, little footprint, takes common ATX power supply. A rack mount case must fit in a standard 19" EIA rack. They call it a 19" rack for a reason. It's not a 19 1ǚ" rack. The edge of this case's ears are 19 1ǚ", had to grind them to fit my rack. Also 1 EIA space is 1.75". Not 1.80". This 2U case is over three.5" tall. Again, does not fit properly in the rack. Not rocket science here folks... Also, 1 of the motherboard standoffs (the ideal rear one) does not line up with any MicroATX board I had. Not a enormous deal, but come on.. Too negative they couldn't make the case to EIA standards. Otherwise it's a good case. Kinda get what you pay for here, a cheap case that's nice for the price, but doesn't truly conform to rack-mount standards.

Great Case for the cost. I was able to get three drives in and wouldn't have had any problems with the 4th. I like the reality that I can take the case fully apart. Support was swift to respond my emails. No sharp edges and the metal is thick enough. Can't say too significantly bad about it. It does what it's supposed to. Fans are loud if you aren't going to put it into a rack with other servers. For me it didn't matter cause its in a rack with a dell 2950 that makes twice as much noise, plus other servers. A diagram would have been good. Little black screws are tough to preserve up with. I purchased this case to hold a glorified pc that we are making use of for backups. It's holding two 2TB drives and a 500GB drive with the OS on it. I applied an older D945 Intel Motherboard. The Proc wasn't in the way of anything but the sata connections are under the drive holder plate. This is the 1st time i've had to mount a DVD drive from the bottom. Had to e-mail support to figure that out due to the fact it came with a three.five tray in the 5.25 bay. Support was rapid to reply and tell me what I needed to do. Just take the tray out and mount the drive from the bottom. This case can manage up to 5 Tough drives with the 3.5 plate in there. I recommend acquiring a modular PowerSupply. I didn't and had to bundle up a bunch of cables. The antec earthwatts PSU fit fine although. Fantastic case for a low cost server case. Take it apart to put in the MOBO, HD cables and PSU Power connection to the MOBO. I zip tied the Primary PowerSupply cable down.

You can fit 5 tough drives in this case.It isn't too deep (which was crucial to me, considering that my wall-mounted rack wasn't too deep either).Solidly built. Fans are noisy. I swapped the 2nd and 4th pins on their power cord to downgrade it from 12V to 7V. That solved the sound issue whilst nonetheless allowing for some airflow. It is a small tight inside. I had a micro ATX motherboard which was a very good factor. I believe it would have been particularly tight if I had a larger board. Nonetheless, I am confident that I could fit in 4 tough drives if necessary. With my board only having 4 SATA ports, that would be adequate. Not sure if you wanted a CD-ROM in there as properly how it would go with a major motherboard. The handles are plastic - kinda low-cost compared with the rest of the unit which is Incredibly solid. This is an excellent board for a 2U server. You can simply fit in four drives. Perhaps even a fifth. I utilised an EarthWatts 380W power provide. That worked good. It was suggested by yet another reviewer here, so thanks! The only holes for airflow are in the front and back. The sides, leading and bottom are all sealed tight. The fans are loud and you really should convert them to 7V rather of 12V. That solved the noise difficulty for me.I would advocate this additional for a micro ATX motherboard than a larger one - though the bigger one will fit.Take off all 4 of the tough drive holders ahead of you start adding the motherboard or power supply. Even with the micro ATX, it was good to have some added hand space. With a larger board, you have to have the HDD holders out so you can screw it in (there are holes underneath them for you to put your screwdriver through.

I obtain these instances all the time. I built 8 new servers for my office, and employed these instances. Recently I built 28 computers for a single client and employed these situations. They are affordable and allow for up to 4 challenging drives which is nice. I was able to setup a raid program for myself with this case and saved space. Cable management is common in a 2U... you can do it just be neat. Also takes a regular PSU. I recently installed about 15 of these in a single rack. They function fine if you install up to about four-5 of them on best of each other, after that and the alignment gets a bit off. Soon after about 6 or so I identified I had to leave a blank 1U space in order to "reset the cycle". So be cautious of that. I had this expertise in three racks ƒ for 1 client, 1 for myself)... all 3 racks were the similar, Dell PowerEdge racks, so it could be them but im a lot more specific its the circumstances. So be cautious there... you may well not have the issues I did. Although I had some slight issues with so quite a few situations in one rack, I'd acquire these once again. I might not acquire so many for a single rack though due to my issues, but for the dollars they are quite solid cases. They can take a beating (I know, i had to drill out a screw on 1 of my racks when the cagenut got stripped and this rack was hanging by its ears finding bent)
