Netgear XAVB101 Powerline AV Network Kit
Cons:-Ethernet cable is a little short, 5ft Cat5e (or so)-Chunky/Unsightly Adapters
Pros:-Decent speeds-Easy Install Comment:
These were pretty good, although a smaller adapter would have probably been a lot better. As it is, they are pretty big, and the belkin one's would seem a lot more appealing. |

Netgear XAVB101 Powerline AV Network Kit
Cons:can't seem to get 200Mb/s
Pros:works wellwill stream most video Comment:
This works well for me. I have it connected to an asus o'play as I didn't want to run an ethernet cable to my router. It doesn't get 200Mb/s for me. The best I've seen is 130Mb/s and the lowest was at 80. It does stream .mkv media well. It has only hiccuped once out of about 30 movies. I don't think it would stream Blu ray though. Netgear XAVB101 Powerline AV Network Kit
Cons:can't get close to 200 Mbps over my electrical lines
Pros:Very easy to use. Comment:
Instead of running an ethernet cable from the basement to the 2nd floor of my house, I bought this powerline adapter. I have been using this for a month and it has been working without a problem. I work from home and VPN into the office as well as teleconference (phone, webex) without issue over the powerline link. I ran a few speed tests and it does not get close to 200Mbps in my case but does about 25 Mbps which is more than enough for my needs. I chose this over wireless because I needed a stable connection throughout the day. This review was modfied by poster @ 10-01-09 01:01 PM |

Netgear XAVB101 Powerline AV Network Kit
Cons:None.
Pros:Idiot-proof and hassle-free! Comment:
I bought this to connect my main gaming rig without having to run an ethernet cable across my apartment/around doorways/etc.Does it work? Yes! I plugged one into my electrical outlet and connected it to my router. I plugged the other into an electrical outlet and plugged it into my computer...and presto: instant internet. It's seriously that easy.I have not used these for streaming HD video content but I am getting my full connection speeds with no lagging or hiccuping. Recommended. |
Got it for my condo to use as a bridge between the main network in the living room and the subnet in the office; there a concrete wall between these room and laying down cable around was not desirable. Works great, noticeable much faster than 802.11n wireless. No disconnects, very stable, essentially it is totally transparent use, very much like regular cable.
