I only regret that I did not obtain this at new egg. I was Duluth Ga. in October of 2010, at Micro Center when I ran across this drive. They had it for 贫 and a ฤ rebate from OCZ. The price thast has was a small less costly than newegg so I bought it. I have already gotten my rebate back, quite good experience with the rebate from OCZ. This drive is incredibly rapidly, I boot into to Win 7 Ultimate in about 18 seconds. I time it from when the boot leaves the motherboard post screen until I get to the desktop. The drive has been quite stable wiht no problems at all, and I use it striaght out of the box with no firmware updates. none, properly it was not totally free. In order for it to really shine you have to load the ACHI drivers when you load Win 7, if not you apparently will not get the full speed out of this drive. I went by the install details for windows 7 install and enabled the trim support for the drive. Worked nicely with Widows 7 Ultimate 64 bit for 5 weeks in Boot camp on a MacPro. OS will boot up but shortly thereafter freezes. Examination of the Method log (when I can get to it) shows Event ID's 7 for bad blocks. For me it is back to the old spinning hard drive. Quick Died I've had this drive for about five months till it died yesterday.It was installed with Windows 7 in a mid-tower case that has better than standard ventilation. Case was situated in a desk enclosure in a residence.Whilst I'm sure there are superior ventilation scenarios, the temps surely by no means reached a level that need to trigger a drive failure. A enormous step up from a normal 7200RPM disk drive. Extremely quick! Windows loads in 9-ten seconds, programs load immediately. I put two of these into my first personal computer develop in a Raid for fun. They install Windows in under 15 minutes, so it didn't actually matter that I kept messing up and starting over. None. If I had been on a budget for this construct and not doing it just for enjoyable, I wouldn't get these for a couple of years. They are fun although.

Excellent even though it worked. Received 25nm drive when I thought I was buying 34nm. Drive failed within 1 month. Far better hope you have a spare drive about due to the fact you'll be waiting weeks for a easy RMA/replacement drive. Terrible consumer service when it comes time for a replacement. I have been stonewalled by telephone assistance. There are troubles within OCZ and I feel it would be prudent to acquire elsewhere. Buyer beware. Has been 4 days and no RMA#, OCZ is having severe troubles with their excellent, reliability and reputation. I own a laptop or computer repair shop and will no longer be buying OCZ products, nor will I be recommending OCZ goods to my buyers. Have just learned that OCZ has the worst SSD failure rate in the industry. OCZ: "to insure that each customer is totally satisfied with their acquire"...funny. Put this in an older Toshiba A105 notbook since the children dropped it so many times the original challenging drive finally failed. It absolutely brought yet another few years life to this laptop. Super quickly compared to HDDs and quite a few other conventional SSDs. Mine failed just now. I am RMAing mine right now. I did not take any eggs off. I have been building PC's for 16 years and this occurs a lot. So it's not something to take an egg away. Nonetheless, if this happens once again, it will be down to 1 egg.

Fast boot time with windows7 64. I read where other people began to have troubles immediately after a couple of months of using this ssd, sadly I feel I'm in that group. If I get up and get a cup of coffee, for the past two days now, I come back to a "windows has to shut down" or it is trying to re-boot itself. I wished I would have gotten additional than 60gb, but now I'm glad I didn't invest the additional cash. If you only get three months of great service from this drive, it is not worth the dollars.

Super Rapidly what does that mean. Nicely if you install correctly and manage your OS your looking at doubling the speed of your system. Not just an initail speed up to eventual back to very same lag. A continually noticable responsive improvement in seek time, intall time time, boot time, battery longevity, unbeatable drop in heat production, and reliability that helps you work with assurance. Nonetheless ... constantly backup!!! .... Generally backup, I can see this HD failure becoming permanent not intermitant like spin drives where you can 50% of the time get it to boot that 1 last time you will need. It worked quite nicely for the initial five months. Installation and use went smoothly. After 5 months and 10 days my OS (Win 7) failed to boot. I tried putting the OS install disk in and attempted a startup repair with no luck. Without having formatting or anything I plugged the SSD to an additional personal computer to attempt information recovery. I tried 3 various information recovery programs (TestDisk + 2 others) and every failed to come across the Master File Table (MFT) and found files and directories. Every thing was gone. The drive failed spectacularly. No warning and no achievable information recovery. I think the drive still works, and I will possibly continue to use it immediately after I reformat it... but I have no faith in OCZ SSDs.
