Really quick, functions as advertised once it gets going. The firmware has a flaw that causes the drive not to boot intermittently on cold boots. This challenge is documented on the OCZ forum (search for "Vertex-2-not-detect-on-cold-boot-warm-boot-functions-just-fine" on Google). This thread was opened on 10ቱ񳏊, and the matter is well identified, but a firmware patch has not been released, and I haven't even observed OCZ acknowledge the problem. Quite quick SSD, I'm a first time buyer for an SSD so I do not have any other experience with other drives, on the other hand, coming from a 7200 RPM tough drive to this, I have to say I'm impressed! Boot and load times are incredibly quickly, the drive itself I have however to come across any problems (I've had laptop or computer difficulties, but it is other hardware going poor). None so far, perhaps it will die in the future? But I don't really see that as a con, just a negative drive. Obtain it! Especially if you're running a 5400 RPM tough drive, you WILL notice the difference.

NONE Did a FRESH install of Windows 7. Following 1 WEEK, drive LOST every little thing. Partition GONE! Luckily I had an IMAGE of the drive. Put image back on, this time lasted two WEEKS, now Absolutely nothing - Totally DEAD.Due to security (FINRA) compliance, I CAN NOT ship this drive back to OCZ for replacement. (Client data was on it.)High-priced DOORSTOP! REBATE was a waste of time. Followed directions. Rebate processed and APPROVED 1ቹቧ.12 WEEKS later - NO REBATE!Intel - sorry I every single left you and your reliable SSDs and trustworthiness. Newegg shipping and outstanding service Buyers beware this is not what you feel it is, this is the 64bit 25nm slow SSD Do oneself a Massive favor and check out the OCZ Forums ahead of buying this slow SSD numerous thousand post on the forums as to what OCZ tried to pull off on selling this SSD under the quicker 32nm Tech speeds.(they have even offered replacement on SOME models not this one) Sure its faster then the old school HDs this SSD speeds are actually 170readኧwrite OCZ will have you jumping threw hoops trying to cover them self the support is very rude on the forums and will lock the thread in a heartbeat if to numerous negative post are produced. No wonder why no refund is given on these drives only Replacement. Very rapidly, make a Core i7 laptop perform like it ought to Extremely poor compatibility with laptop manufacturers. Was told by tech support that Lenovo was "proprietary" and would not work with this drive, even though this is not stated. Forums are full of concerns with Lenovos, HPs, and Dells. After the 1st week, laptop reports "drive not initialized" and it's detected as Sandforce rather of OCZ-VERTEX2. Should power on and off numerous times in a row to get laptop to recognize drive, then it's fine until you energy off, where you start the approach more than again. Incredibly poor tech support, forums are far far more beneficial than support tickets.

Excellent price for 80GB SSD. SLOW. A LOT SLOWER than advertised or benchmarked! BUYER BEWARE!This drive performs incredibly slower than advertised or benchmarked. Do NOT purchase this drive if you're expecting comparable performance as the benchmarks indicated.On SATA3 AMD chipset, I can only get 160MB read and 45MB write!!! That's appropriate, only 45MB/S Write!This is due to inferior memory utilised, and OCZ does NOT RMA this model as its capacity reads appropriately according to them.Don't get me wrong, this drive is faster than most HDDs out ... nevertheless, it is a lot slower than best-tier SSDs and older Vertex2, so keep that in mind.PS. I intentionally bought this model that is NOT known as "enhanced" hoping it may possibly have superior memory and not the exact same problems as the "E" drives, just to be confirmed entirely wrong!

Very pleased with this purchase, perfect for an OS partition and my most frequently used applications. Games load much quicker but as with most SSD's you end up running out of room fast.

Bought it for $100 on a package deal and it's amazing how much of difference it is to move to a SSD.Installed Win 7 Ultimate and all my mobo drivers in less than 20 minutes before I was up and running.If you want to buy a SSD, either wait for a larger one to be on sale or if you got the cash...spring for a 240 GB.

Really don't know much else to say...its just a mile above the old school hard drives. Would be nice if I actually got the promised rebate card to send into OCZ and find out they are competent to honour it.

This is an excellent drive. Performance is very good, boot and app load times are less than half of what they were on my 320 GB Seagate Momentus 7200 RPM drive (a very good drive also). I've noticed an improvement in battery life also. I'm already planning on replacing my 2nd drive with another Vertex 2 because I have been so impressed. The downside is that (for the time being anyways) you cannot upgrade your drive if you are running your OS on it, so be sure you upgrade your firmware before setting it to be your main drive.

Extremely fast it installed windows in 15 minutes. I wish the price could be lower but you do get what you pay for. All around a Great buy. (I wish i got the 240gb model.)

Overall, I should rate this product 6 stars but only 5 are available. It installed windows in 11 minutes, which by the way boots up in 9 seconds (drivers, antivirus, icons and everything). Very happy with this product - thanks NCIX!

I bought this drive as an upgrade from a WD Raptor Raid 0. With my RAID config I would get read/write speeds in the 130mb/s range and was happy with it for a long time, but due to issues with RAID, power consumption, heat and noise, I decided to invest in the SSD craze. I'm very glad I did, because this Vertex 2 drive is a force! What I did was use Acronis to clone my RAID 0 over to the SSD via XP (secondary os boot). It allowed me to shrink the partition (was 138gb, 70gb used) and copy it over to the ssd. Reboot and reconfigured my bios to boot from the Vertex. Windows loaded in a flash and then went through the process of configuring windows for optimal SSD performance: - Disabled Defragmentation- Disabled Indexing- Disabled Prefetchers- Disabled System Restore- Disabled Superfetch- Adjusted registry to allow for drive to be run in AHCI modeReboot and voila! About the only way that I lost out here was in actual drive capacity, going from 2 x 74gb raptors to a single 80gb Vertex 2. Aside from this however, heat and noise are now a non-issue, windows is far faster to boot/shutdown and loading programs and accessing data, and I've dropped a considerable amount of excess wattage used to power 2 raptors over the single ssd. Overall I am extremely happy with this upgrade and would highly recommend anyone who is in the market for an ssd to look into the Vertex 2 lineup. I had also looked at purchasing the OCZ Revo, but for the price the Vertex was just too good to pass up and yielded enough of an upgrade in terms of speed to make it worth it.
