SSD is the way to go for boot/app/OS drive. This is the best upgrade i've done. Compare it to any drive, even raptors, you'll notice the difference. As we speak, good drive in raid 0 can only beat it with sustained speeds, but none can beat like 0.2ms access time!

Got this drive on sale to see what all the fuss was about. Aligned the drive using ubuntu as per one of the guides on the OCZ Forum, which is active and full of useful info. Installed W7 64-bit RC and fell out of my chair. Took 7min 52 seconds to install via USB drive. This drive is very fast. Cold boot to working desktop is around 30 seconds. Everything is fast from opening app's to navigating the internet. Using HD Tune I'm seeing minimum transfer rates of 152MB/s, maximum of 224MB/s, average of 208MB/s and 0.1ms access time. ATTO results have reads as high as 230MB/s with writes as high as 155MB/s. Very snappy performance, exceeded my expectations. SSD is the future. Bought two of these drives about 2 days ago, one of them already died on me. I had them in a Raid 0 array and when they worked they worked very well the fastest drives you can get. My computer was so responsive everything opened instantly.The problem is one of the drives only lasted 1 day, in the middle of the computer running the drive just died, now I gotta do a RMA with OCZ which means I probably won't get my drive back for a few weeks. This makes me wonder how reliable these drives are.Check out the OCZ forums a ton of problems and a ton of RMA's with these drives. These drives are at best beta products.

-I love these SSD's for their performance and I would've went for the 60 gig version but the price was a bit to high~ Put together a i7 machine w/ Vista Ultimate x64 and boot speeds are amazing. Fast load times for applications and games too. This review was modfied by poster @ 06-11-09 01:15 PM

Put the SSD in my desktop to boot up windows, it's darn fast now. Though I'll need to read some guides to maximize its life, like no defragging, etc. as these SSDs have limited write capabilities.

I bought one of these drives a few weeks ago and installed it into my machine for the boot disk for both windows and linux. It's pretty speedy. I've seen this machine boot in 8 seconds. From GRUB to Login, 8 seconds is pretty darn sweet.The only downside is the price. Not only would I buy again, I did buy again. I have another OCZ Vertex ready to install into my MythTV box for its boot drive.

I got 2x30gb in raid 0 with firmware 1275, they read at 400mb/s and write at 320mb/s. I got mine fore 119$ each, wait for a good sale;)

I work for a software company and we added it to our build server. It cut build times from 100 mins to 37. Very nice improvement for very little money. My only hesitation is the 10,000 write cycles before failure. The Intel drive last 10x longer, but depending on the use, it may not matter.

I agree 100% with the previous post, most upgrades give some noticable improvment. We upgraded a failed HP NC8430 laptop drive with this, it went from booting in 3 minutes to ten seconds. I thought someone handed me a laptop ten years from the future, make a name for yourself at work with this little guy. This is my new standard for replacing failed drives at work.

First SSD drive. got 2x30SSD in raid 0. with firmware 1275 read at 402mb/sec and write at 304mb/sec (Raid0).Good drive to start ssd with. Issues with alignment with windows XP but windows vista and windows 7, no problem.

Without question, the most amazing increase in daily computer operation from a single device upgrade in over 10 years of my PC experiences. In 3x30GB RAID0, ATTO benchmark is showing 650MB/sec read transfers. That's nearly 5 times the speed of my conventional hard drive (2 drive) array. Unbelievable.
