OPTI-UPS GS1100B 1100VA 550W UPS - Retail
Cons:- Could have more battery backup outlets...

Pros:- Great price for the power- Sleek & silent unit- Battery is user replaceable
Comment:
Well, I bought this UPS mainly because of the great special price at NCIX. It is a nice unit and very easy to setup. I don't regret buying it and I will certainly be glad to have it when there's a blackout in my area.

OPTI-UPS GS1100B 1100VA 550W UPS - Retail
Cons:* While useful, the software is rough around the edges and could use more features.* Internet updates and support documents (FAQs) would be nice.* Takes up a USB port if you want to use the software (which you should). Personally I would have prefered a serial port.

Pros:* Six surge-protected outlets including three with battery backup. That was more than enough for my needs. Your mileage may vary.* Good-looking and sturdy.* Cheap. Good rating and backup time for such a low price.* Everything you need is included (e.g., USB cable).
Comment:
It's not perfect, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a solid line-interactive UPS like this one for even twice the price. Now I can finally stop worrying whenever I use my ridiculously power-hungry, voltage-sucking laser printer.

OPTI-UPS GS1100B 1100VA 550W UPS - Retail
Cons:- Only 3 battery backed up plugs

Pros:- Low Price- Good Capacity- Software works well
Comment:
This UPS will take care of any voltage sags or spikes and quickly switches to battery power if needed is a speedy 4ms. 1100VA is quite a bit of capacity at this price and the user replaceable battery makes it even better. There are 3 battery backed-up power sockets and 3 that are only surge protected. I ended up plugging a power bar into one of the battery backed-up sockets so I could plug everything into it that I wanted to.With a 2.5Ghz Venice, 7800GT, 2x1024MB, 2x7200rpm HD using a Seasonic S12 power supply (at idle), a 19IN LCD and a few minor items plugged in the software tells me I'm at 17% of it's maximum load. The software is a quick install and seems to work well. It puts a small icon down by the clock, clicking on it pops up a dashboard with information such as Voltage-in, voltage-out, load level, frequency-in, frequency-out and battery level. It allows you to configure just about anything you'd want to do with a USP, minutes to shutdown when the power is out, emailing or phoning a number to notify of a power outage, scheduler to schedule operations like start-up shutdown and others, record log so you can see when any incidents occured. The software even comes with a webserver that allows you to do everything remotely through a web configuration page. This seems like a hell of a deal for $90.

OPTI-UPS GS1100B 1100VA 550W UPS - Retail
Cons:Cannot control more than one computer.

Pros:Good power, reliable.
Comment:
This UPS is great, it does the job for my server setup. I have 4 of them currently supporting 2 computers. However, as I know it supposedly only meant for one, I was wishing that I can control the UPSs from one server and be able to control the other computers using that server. Otherwise this is a great hardware for its price!

OPTI-UPS GS1100B 1100VA 550W UPS - Retail
Cons:- To most this is not a problem because they are all done like this but like most, this UPS doesn't have outlets on the side to let you plug serveral adapters

Pros:+ Great price+ Does the job+ Nice features+ USB connection to the pc; no more serials+ Small
Comment:
That is the nicest UPS I have seen in any price range (although I haven't seen a lot of the expensive ones) but it is also the cheapest I have found anywhere on the web for a 1100VA. If you think you might need a UPS, get this one.

OPTI-UPS GS1100B 1100VA 550W UPS - Retail
Cons:Software and support needs to be addressed by Opti-UPS. Their monitoring software will not ingetrate with Windows XP's UPS settings in Control Panel, and the software has problems detecting the UPS from time to time. Also, they need to release the batteries more widely, as I can't find anyone locally that sells the batteries.E-mail support however, has been good so far. I got 2/2 replys for questions already.

Pros:Sleek, this thing is not ugly. It's black, curves, ans solidly built. This thing is HEAVY!!!Has the largest VA and longest shut-down time in it's price point. You can't get more value than this UPS.
Comment:
From the reviews below, you can tell this thing is a lifesaver. Wait for a weekly deal to make it $80-ish, and buy it. Not only are you being saved from OVER voltages, your also getting filtered CONSTANT voltages into your computers components and power supply. Coupling it to your power supply, results in uBer clean power to your computers innards.

OPTI-UPS GS1100B 1100VA 550W UPS - Retail
Cons:Would have liked to see more software options, but functional nonetheless.

Pros:Excellent price, compact unit, easy setup!
Comment:
This is an excellent little unit for a single PC or HTPC. 1100 VA gives you a longer standby time than most competitive units in the same price range. Very easy to install, PLUS includes it's own USB cable! (Printers don't even include that!) User-replaceable battery does not require tools to replace, and can be bought at an electroncis wholesaler or security dealer. Unit regulates voltage during dips or spikes in addition to backup and auto-shutdown (approx. 4-5 mins in my case). I would highly recommend this unit as one form of insurance on any system, new or old.
