No Pros : Simply wouldn't function in 3 various machines Tried 1st stick in two diverse machines, 1st machine only recognized 256mb of the 512mb listed. 2nd machine wouldn't boot with this ram in it. Newegg RMA'd it for me and I had it replaced with one more stick of the same and exact same factor occurred with the identical 2 machines and I tried a 3rd machine which had an Abit BE6II board with 440 bx chipset and it also only recognized 256mb of the 512mb rated. No way should 3 various machines fail to use this ram. Put my old memory sticks back in the machines and they worked fine. Manufacturer Response:Dear Banjernut,We are sorry for the inconvenience that these modules might have caused you. All of our modules are one hundred% program tested prior to leaving our facility. Please return this kit back to us and we will be pleased to get a replacement back to you ASAP. Please contact us at support@patriotmem.com.With Regards,Guy

Added this to a Apple G4 Sawtooth 450mhz and had no problems whatsoever. Booted up fine and was recognized appropriate away. None As someone else talked about, it's nice that I didn't have to acquire Apple sanctioned memory. Even though this might seem high priced for the amount, maintain in mind a lot of the computer systems this ram is for are practically 10 years old now. The reality I can nonetheless uncover this ram for a fairly affordable price is great!

Patriot makes fantastic really low latency memory with heat spreaders which I have utilized extremely effectively on newer machines, but an HP 9790C from 1998 does not qualify. Came with cost-free shipping; wish I could have utilised it. If you're trying to get the most 鹀MB per slot instead of 256) out of couple of memory slots on a PC100 motherboard, this is NOT the way to go. This has 16 chips on it but appears to be high density (thin, low profile stick, no circuitry in between chip and contacts, only a soldered spot). Machine would not boot up with this installed, even with this stick in isolation, without having the PC100 stick to downclock it. Booted fine with this stick removed/replaced with PC100. SuperTalent tends to make a low density (not low profile) 32x8 512MB PC100 stick (not available from NewEgg) that really should be perfect for these machines. NewEgg sells the PC133 version which hopefully is a lot more backward compatible than this 1, but you danger a restocking fee if it's not. Manufacturer Response:Dear connedsumer I'm sorry the chips you bought are not functioning as you intended. I would like to inform you that we do manufacture a low density chip but newegg does not have it in stock presently from what I see. Please make contact with me directly and I'll aid you uncover someplace that has it in stock.John SmithPatriot Memory Technical Help Teamsupport@patriotmem.com

Got an opportunity to improve my tech understanding. Bought two 512MB memory modules that were completely functional. None with high quality of item. Wish I had only purchased 1 512MB module. Wanted to fill two empty memory slots in an older computer system operating Windows98SE for a total of 1.5GB of RAM. I learned the tough way that Windows9x and ME will not boot with more than 1GB of RAM. Do a search on "insufficient memory to initialize Windows" for more details.

None I started with this module on a previously recognized working machine, the machine just doesn't boot up at all. SecondlyI tried employing the other RAM sticks I have 2X128MB, and it worked fine, then i tried plugging this new patriot RAMwith the two previous RAM Sticks, it begins booting but shows that total memory located is about 524MB ? which isway less then the one total ought to be and even prior to the windows start, it goes in infinite reboot loops. Completely defective stick !!!! Waiting for the replacement, hopefully that will work. Manufacturer Response:Greetings,It sounds like you might have received a module that is malfunctioning. If you have already gone via the procedure of trouble shooting to establish that the RAM is the source of the conflict, I may well recommend contacting New Egg for a replacement module.Patriot Memory tests the memory batches it makes prior to shipping to keep away from just this kind of circumstance, please accept our apology for your much less than great experience. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at support@patriotmem.comThank you for selecting Patriot MemoryDaniel SorrentinoPatriot Memory Assistance

These are a monster upgrade for older computers. They saved a couple of older computers from retirement. They are much more expensize per Mb than most of the DDR modules. Be carefull to make confident your pc can handle a 512Mb module. They wouldn't function in various older HP and Compaq machines simply because the max size was 256Mb. They did function excellent in a couple of Gateways operating XP Pro.

Stuck two of these in an iMac G3 slot load (summer 2001) that I bought off of a person for a mere ฤ. Unbelievable performance enhance more than the original 256MB. Booted right up and OS X 10.4 runs fine with no problems (so far). Confident beats paying twice as a lot or much more for Mac "sanctioned" RAM. I'm certain this legacy SDRAM reached the ten dollar mark a few years ago, but it's receiving hard to locate anymore. Still a quite worth whilst upgrade for the price and breathed new life into what would otherwise be deemed a door stop to some. Thanks to Patriot for manufacturing and NewEgg for continued sale of this. Now all I want to do is slap in a 7200RPM drive to replace the 5400RPM :)

The 1 stick that works, works as expected. The second 512K stick that I bought arrived DOA. While it's not unheard of for memory to be fritzed at the factory, I expect far better excellent control from Newegg vendors. Shoulda bought locally!
