RAZER Megalodon Circumaural 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset

Razer holds absolutely nothing back with the packaging, this set is lightweight, really comfy, the sound is awesome, as is the capacity to adjust all settings on the fly for the duration of gameplay, the cord is a lot lengthy enough, and the durable construction is A+ compared to any other set. Razer genuinely wants to become friendlier with the customer support. Split was more help. Razer could also make obtaining the fix on their web site a bit simpler, I think that is where most of my frustration came from. I posted in frustration, not panic. That's a lot of dollars for a headset. I finally did locate the firmware patch on the Razer internet site. My fingers are crossed as I am only seeking foreward to an awesome gaming experience with this headset. My apology to Split for my last post. Can you feel the frustration? I'm no tech wiz. I just like games. On that note I will flip flop on my original posts. I was wrong. Give these suckers a shot and you'll be glad you did. Thanks Split.

First off, got this as a christmas present this year... and loving it ever since! If you are looking for a comfortable, stylish, and great sounding headset... Look no further. Also, there is another Josh_D that posted in 09, I am not that person. :)2.1/7.1 sounds amazing, and the added ability to adjust each level dynamically and on the fly just ices my cake. Too loud in the back of the ears? You're two button presses and a dial turn away from fixing it. No fiddling with menu's and settings.Microphones... love em and hate em. I switched from a PS2 headset built for SOCOM/SOCOMII way back when (yes those still work, if you can find em cheap, best damn single ear/microphone you can get!), and I can't get enough. Like I said above, my friends actually wonder if I'm in their head or beside them instead of 15km away. Added you need to do a little bit of work for it, it's not a bad thing to learn how your hardware works at the same time.Overall design... Sleek, comfortable, easy slide adjustment for size. All components to a great headset. Two of my friends, both G35 owners, have tried my headphones on and immediately said: "I can go for hours with these, they are so soft!" If you own a G35, you undoubtedly know that the ear cups will cause the area around your ears to get sore eventually.The Verdict... 5 stars. It deserves no less, I'm one happy hippo when I set these headphones on my dome and fire up some FPS's for some rampaging. From one gamer to another, if you are eyeballing this headset, you should probably just order it ;)Dow

Came in a great box, nice unboxing, nice hard case and was well packed.Setup was easy, just plugged it in and it worked.I did a lot of testing on these and they really work well. You can hear sound from all direction, I think razor did a great job with these!Down side is Razor download for firmware/drivers isn't working at the moment.

Overall it seems to be an excellent product. If the microphone worked better for me I would give it a 5 star rating. The cosmetic looks, comfort, and sound are all amazing. Do not be surprised if you run into microphone/driver issues though. Do some research on Google and it will show that many people has firmware/driver issues with the headset. Some people can fix it, others may not have such luck.

I have been a Razer supporter for years and trully believe in their quality and brand. When they first launched the megalodon the had some issues with the firmware on this set but they have since been resolved. Updating to the latest firmware has fixed my set power cutting off and random intervals , and i have not had any problems since. Don't listen to all the bad reviews , trust me. I use this headset 10 hours a day if not more , i am a serious gamer and wouldn't use crap gear. I would recommend this headset to anyone on the market for a good gaming experience. No , it is not perfect , but it is great for listening to music , and most of the newer titles support the surround feature. The microphone takes some time to configure to your proper settings , but once you have figured out the correct settings for your perticular setup , you won't look back. The megalodons sound amazing.

Love the headphones and love the sound quality. 7.1 in proper audio sources is amazing. I love it.The Sound/ Microphone will stop working completely sometimes in Windows Vista 64bit and will require you to quit any applications and plug the headphones back in to get sound again.Razer is aware of the issue and are working towards a solution.In the meantime, Its a really annoying problem to have.But these headphones get a 4 star rating because they have potential to be wonderful for everyone. If it was 50$ i wouldnt even buy it ... i wasted my money on this product and the support is lame doesnt work hald the time im playing a game because sound crashes

Overall I think the build quality is high and it sounds great but even though win7 wasn't their officially supported version it's kind of unimpressive that it crashes constantly. Still waiting on a reply from their support.
