It does perform but not nicely. Doesn't appear to function effectively on the Mac. It's slow and you require third party drives to help. Works. low cost.Mount is wonderful and appears to be a logitech ripoff rotated 90 degrees so the mic is on the side. I use it on crt, lcd, and just on desk and it usually grips nicely. Poor low light image, and poor image if lighting is uneven. My principal use is in an office with a window and my face is always more than exposed in the image. Genuinely bad optics and it is generally out of focus. It has a focus slider, but it appears to only alter amongst 4" and 6" focal point. Too bad they didn't rip off the optics and electronics as nicely. I bought it just to have if necessary, but things modify and now I truly want a camera for some meetings. Works with skype on xp or Linux, but does not function with ekiga. I suspect they were a tiny sloppy on the interface and Ekiga is much less forgiving. I have attempted on both OpenSuse 11., Ubuntu 9.04, and XP. lsusb lists it as 058f򎢌 Strategy to acquire a decent camera to replace it. It works under Windows7. Resolution specifications are 1280 x 1024, but the windows driver seems only to assistance 640 x 480. The Webcam looks real good and the flexable stand is great. No way does the webcam have a 30fps no matter what the specs say. If i had been to guess on the fps i would say 20-24fps at ideal. The fps lag is way to poor to use this for something excellent. I have tried on three unique computers and of which one is a quad core and the webcam nonetheless is lacking in decent fps. I have numerous other Rosewill goods and this is my initially poor item from them. If i had know that the webcam fps was this poor I would have ordered a unique make. The webcam would be very good for kids who play with makeup and do not need to have very good fps for it.

Great quality, plug-n-play, sharp picture, sits nicely on monitor (lcd "flat panel"), simple to set up (see 'plug-n-play'), fairly inexpensive. Laggy video. Takes about a third of a second or so for the video to react, and even then there is a really noticeable blur. When I speak it looks as if my mouth is barely moving. Also, driver installation does not autorun off of the disk, you have to explore the disk and find the right installer file (labeled only "RCM-8164"). This may confuse certain computer novices. This is not particularly massive deal contemplating the software isn't essential (or very good, to be honest), but it is an oversight. I would not advise this camera.
