This is my fourth unit -- I replace each and every laptop challenging drive I get with a 7200 RPM drive and use the original drive as a backup. This HDD enclosure is best, down ideal perfect. It comes with a USB cable that has two ends on it, but you only want to use the 1. If you have an additional Mini USB cable like I did, like from a camera or a PSP, you can use that and it will work just fine. I would assume that some devices, will not have enough power from 1 port, so that's why they included a double ended cable, but as for a Wii and xbox 360, they power it just fine, as well has the USB hub on the front of my pc. I am employing mine with a 500GB Seagate HDD. I have it in two partitions, one in NTFS, for added data storage on my pc, and the other as a WBFS, for my Wii, to play backed up games from it. Blue power LED is a small on the vivid side, and the activity light isn't correct, it acts like a flash drive, it just blinks when the HDD is becoming accessed. I plan on acquiring 3 far more of these. 1 for my Wife, Mother, and a second one for myself, so I don't will need to partition it for my Wii.

Fantastic Design. Straightforward to install HDD On the box it says 9.5mm Tough Drives. Mine is 12 or so. It won't fit. New Egg please add HDD thickness in the specs. I did not even know HDD's came in diverse thicknesses.

Plug in your drive, it functions. None with regards to the case. Just don\'t forget it's a cheap case so it's not exactly "tough". As long as you are gentle with it, it ought to last a long time. As for construction, you get what you spend for. But as a straightforward case to put your old laptop or PS3 drive in (after a upgrade say) it functions just fine. Low power 5400RPM drives can commonly run off a single USB port, and don't want each. 7200RPM drives commonly will need each USB plugs to power them. Realize also that some computers give far more power to single USB ports then other people. Check with your manufacturer.

Additional of a comment but a con, a spot to put the cord when traveling would be nice I have bought a few of these and its a fantastic unit to make use of an old drive. Comes with a Y-ed USB cable, but it can be powered off a single port if the bus can provide the energy. Fortunately mine can. Supposed the 9.5mm drives. Effortless to install. Nowhere in the description or details does it mention there is a 250gb limit. I occurred to open the manual and read "up to 250gb drive capacity." I bought a SAMSUNG Spinpoint MP4 HM640JJ 640GB 7200 RPM 2.5" SATA three.0Gb/s for use with this case, and upon 1st plugging it into my Windows 7 Enterprise x64 desktop, I had main difficulties partitioning. The drive manager kept freezing, and the drive stopped responding. For giggles, I then plugged the case into my Macbook Pro and ran disk utility. I was effectively in a position to partition the drive (I employed two separate partitions, 4gb FAT32, and the rest uncompressed NTFS.) Following it partitioned, I did a zero-out erase of each partitions. The 600gb partition took about 6 hours, but it completed effectively. Works fantastic, nice pouch to guard the enclosure, cable superior high quality, superb value for the $$$ not all metal, so I guess you could break it if you were careless I use with windows o/s es (XP, vista, and WIN7) no challenge, and Ubuntu (a distro of linux) without having any issue.

This reads/writes faster with this external enclosure than it did with the laptop it came out of...It came with a good case.Effortless to install - this is my very first time dealing with external enclosures and it took me about 5 minutes to get it installed and operating.Excellent Newegg client service (read other thoughts) The two plastic pieces that you have to press to take the top,bottom come out is low cost. One of the plastic clips came broken. There was some nasty metal residue located once I opened the best cover.Regardless of these troubles, I still give this a five egg rating. I ordered this enclosure on 8ቬ and it arrived on 8ቯ (fast delivery) but had been lost/stolen. I known as Newegg customer service and they shipped me one more one by 8ታ. I appreciate Newegg!

Has successfully connected to multiple computers with a number of OS's with several different hard drives inside. Has generally kept pretty high speed information transfers (for USB, at least). No substantial hiccups. The plastic insides don't hold up to the screws nicely, it cracks a small, so don't muscle the screws too tough.

Very fast and really straightforward installation. The plates on each sides simply slide off, install the drive, screw it in and voila! None so far. Very easily had my challenging drive in and plugged in within 5 minutes tops. Had it formatting within 10. Extremely extremely easy. two USB plugins, but I can't put that as a con, basically due to the fact you're not going to uncover a non-AC adapter enclosure that doesn't use two.

This is a greet Slim pocket size challenging drive case, and it includes a leather carrying case. It is specifically handy for carrying around bluray movies for your laptop or to move them to one more computer. Two things I discovered a little odd but was effortlessly corrected. I put a rubber band around the case so the cable in the difficult drive wouldn't get separated. I have two other cables that are related to this one and they didn't function with the case. The second thing was I cut a little piece of the foam quarter of an inch by two 1ǘ inches so the hard drive wouldn't slide around. And the magnet could be a little stronger. All rosewill merchandise are as excellent as newegg. And you can't go wrong with either one.

When you have it all together it does precisely what you'd anticipate. It's also nicer looking and sturdier than I was expecting for the 9.99 I paid. When working for a lengthy period of time it vibrates about since it's smooth on both sides. Not a huge difficulty just wish they included a little rubber pad or one thing. It's fairly tough to get to slide open and you have to slide both the best and the bottom. Quite good that it comes with screws, a mini screwdriver, and a leather case.immediately after a couple of mins of installing, i plugged in 1 of the two usb cables (one for power? 1 for data?) and accidentally dropped it onto the ground (about 2 ft).. was scared that i ruined my drive, but it still works! shows how good rosewill goods are! maybe it's just me, but as soon as you put in the drive and close it up, it's kinda difficult to take it out once again. you have to use pressure and push the clips and slide it out.

Very effortless to add a drive to. Simple construction. Could do with no the glossy exterior. Feels type of flimsy. Still a good case. I like the truth that they included a mini screw driver. Nice small additional.

Works as advertised. It's a bit hard to get the leading cover on once you get a challenging drive mounted inside, but it does go on with a small "help" None Works like it's suppose to.

Uncomplicated to use and get up and running with a new difficult drive in minutes, just works correct.three hours of cloning and the case didn't get too hot or trigger the drive to stop. Case was incredibly snug on the tough drive

Quite good case with fantastic support for the drive. I recently bought another case that I've been extremely unhappy with. I must have bought one more of these rather. The front and back of the case feel like they may possibly slip open, but the pressure-tabs do a excellent job holding them in location. No actual complications with this case.

It is effortless to install and doesn't take any screws for the case. Worked correct out of the box and stays extremely cool. It does take each usb plugs for bigger hdds. I didn't take an egg off for this mainly because if it comes with the cable with two usb, you must expect to use them. It came with a nice little case major sufficient to put the cable in with it.
