Easy. Drives went in effortless systems came up and with the web driven menus configuring the program was easy. Took a extended time to format the array. the drive locks could have been superior.. make confident that you push the drive in all the way before locking drive in.

Outward appearance looks decent but I can not use all five bays. Die stamp malfunction of one alignment rail prevents tray alignment, preventing removal of tray (bottom one only, even empty) from becoming removed. Removing drive above it initial to get your hand in to somehow lift up on tray is not an selection if you have a drive attached. Not going to threat my drive sata connects. Consumer service at Sans Digital non responsive for replacement; suggested I obtain one more one (what a concept). Immediately after all, client satisfaction indicates less than an indolent response. I would suggest one more enclosure of a diverse brand. That they would not respect the client and develop a loyalty is their selection. I will discover other, appropriate products from yet another manufacturer. I had never purchased a Sans Digital product prior to and do not see me doing so once again. We tech geeks would love to find customer-responsive companies that value us as significantly as we value their next product. Manufacturer Response:For your physical dilemma, it really should be harm during shipping. We encourage to get in touch with Newegg instant service. If the issue discover following Newegg return policy, please contact us directly for the assistance. Your product includes one year parts and labor warranty. We also offer advance replacement service upon request. Please get in touch with us at 1-800-980-1988 or e-mail us at tech@sansdigital.com, and we will be in a position to support you out.

Great deal if you get it on Particular. 贶 My only complaint is this: The device is produced by Sans Digital. The quality is nice. The RAID card is created by Highpoint. You don;t have "one throat to choak" if you are getting a difficulty. The tech support of both firms are lacking. Sans at least has a phone number. Highpoint only has an email address. This is not acceptable when you sell storage goods.

I Newegg had a great price on 5 samsung HDD 2TB which definately takes care of my capacity desires for the instant future, anyway.SATA access is swift and uncompromised which I is excellent mainly because it was a concern. But... There is a genuine issue with compatibility conflicts with onboard SATA or eSATA. In my case it merely didn't register the SATA raid without installing the pci-e card that comes with it.Working through that was frustrating to say the least. And I'm operating a pretty swift 1year old program, Win7 64, i-7 with 12GB Ram and radeon's HD 5850; needless to say there was small room to fit their pci-e card in the case navigating around that tremendous vid card! So shuffled some issues about and it worked - once again, after operating by way of the drivers, etc. For the price, I'm not overly put out. But I would caution others that it's not fairly as "plug and play" as I believed it would be.With no using their pci-e card, I'd venture to guess it would work worth a flip. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for purchasing our product. Please note that there are motherboards' SATA chipset does not support port multiplier (PM) function, which is the needs for making use of this model. Please update to the latest driver and BIOS for the motherboard to acquire PM support, or employing the bundled controller card. The bundled controller card also provide the RAID characteristics as nicely as the WEBGUI managements of the difficult drives. Please get in touch with us at 1-800-980-1988 or e-mail us at tech@sansdigital.com, and we will be able to support you out.

Cheap. Very first off, it was a main discomfort to get the drives initialized and recognized by the web interface. You have to (or at least I had to) initialize them up in the RAID BIOS tool ahead of they would be recognized by the internet interface tool. Not a huge deal, but the setup guide and literature don’t essentially instruct you to do this. I eventually got it running with 5x WD20EARS 2TB drives – 2 operating in RAID 1 mirrored (thankfully) and three operating in RAID five. The subsequent issue, if you’re already employing onboard RAID you could have a conflict problem. I’m operating two 500 GB disks in RAID for my boot drive making use of the onboard RAID on my MB. When I lastly got this set up and operating the included PCI card took over boot priority and would not let me select my OS drive for boot. Rather it tried to boot from 1 of the two RAID arrays that I had created. Painful. Contd... ...I didn’t investigation it exhaustively but I wasn’t able to discover an effortless fix for this anywhere other than powering down or unplugging the SATA cable to the tower if I will need to reboot. Just about the last straw. I went on vacation for a week and powered every little thing down whilst I was away. When I went to turn everything back on only drive bay ş will energy up. I know it’s not a tough drive concern mainly because the other drives will energy up in bay ş and the drive that ought to be in bay ş won’t work in any of the other bays. Lame. I got less than two weeks use out of this thing. The last straw. I’ve tried contacting Sans Digital about the concern (two emails and 1 voicemail) and have received no response. Lame. At least the drives I set up in RAID 1 are recognizable on their own and I’m able to salvage the data off of them. Manufacturer Response:Thank you for buying our product. TR5M-BP does not call for to setup via BIOS. You can setup directly from WEBGUI or BIOS, and we commonly advise to use WEBGUI due to the fact it is simpler to navigate. Several RAID groups are supported. Even so, WD20EARS is a green drives, which is not advocate to use in RAID application. In your case, it drop the RAID volume and it is generally what take place when working with Green drives in RAID application. These concerns will not surface if you use the hard drives individually or JBOD mode. Information from RAID 1 will be able to recover, because it is a mirror. But RAID or five will not. Please get in touch with us at 1-800-980-1988 or e-mail us at tech@sansdigital.com, and we will be able to support you out.

Compact, consists of sleds, develop good quality is wonderful, power supply is replaceable. Power supply fan was giving guests headaches. I couldn't hear it but there was sufficient evidence on the web and these reviews that the 40mm fan in the PS was the challenge. The included raid card was flakey in linux (ubuntu and opensuse). Works flawlessly in Win7 Pro 32-bit on the other hand, which is where i decided to use it (media center server). I replaced the migraine inducing power supply fan with a applied fan in my parts bin, took 10 minutes to take apart and put back together, relationship saved.
